Chapter 4031: The World Doesn’t Stop
Sometime later, Rean was already back in the swamp, moving underground and entering the Celestial Soul Dimensional Realm right after. Seeing that Roan, Celis, and Kentucky had already started to cultivate, Rean joined them. "Well, I guess our next stop is only at the Peak Stage of the Divinity Realm now."
The Dimensional Realm went silent, time passed, and slowly, the memories of the twins’ group’s existence began to disappear.
---
Several thousand years later, in the Werdlem Empire’s Main Universe...
Galita, the one in charge of the facility that controls most of the affairs of the Werdlem Empire, was on a call. That wasn’t a common call, though. Instead, that was a call with someone in the Celestial Plane. "No, senior. No one here has asked to get in contact with you."
-Are you sure?-
"Absolutely," Galita confirmed. "Considering senior’s status, any requests regarding you, especially from someone who has the authority to do so, would have been recorded."
On the other side of the call, it was none other than Caladara, the one who went to A1 Universe to investigate the twins’ group. That day, she left her mark on them, expecting the twins’ backer to come looking for her.
Yet, even after thousands of years, there was no contact initiated from the other side. If not for the fact that the twins’ IDs were the real deal, she would be doubting her own conjectures. Well, the truth was that she would be right if she did, as the twins’ group really didn’t have any backers, and their IDs were acquired through the system.
Caladara thought about it for a moment. ’Am I being tested? Or could it be those outsiders were telling the truth? They did mention that after they were helped and had their outsider traits covered, no one came looking for them anymore. They even said they didn’t know what the other side wanted.’
’It has to be someone with immense influence and authority. There is no other way. Yet, no one came looking for me in the Celestial Plane, nor did anyone look for me in the Werdlem Main Universe. The Werdlem Main Universe is pretty much the only place you could acquire information about me while down there...’
Galita, noticing Caladara’s silence, couldn’t help but ask. "Senior, is there something troubling you? If it is an issue on our side, I can definitely help get it fixed. Or you could even request the Werdlem Imperial Family here, or someone from their lineage in the Celestial Plane. They will hardly ignore your request."
Caladara thought for a moment, shaking her head in the end. -There is no need. It’s nothing serious. I’m just waiting for a certain someone to contact me, but I don’t know when it will happen. That’s why I keep asking if someone tried to reach me through you.-
Galita nodded. "So that’s how it is..." She didn’t truly believe that, but she could not get involved either. "Then I will let you know if we receive any requests on our side."
-Very well. I’m out.- And then, Caladara ended her call.
That same day, Galita received another visit. "Any news?"
Galita bowed respectfully to the man in front of her, attracting the attention of all the workers in that giant room. In fact, she was feeling helpless. Why were there so many big shots coming after her today? Of course, she didn’t voice those thoughts. "No, young master Gin."
Gin narrowed his eyes, ignoring everyone else. "She must have recovered by now. That said, she will definitely try to approach one of the Great Void Black Holes. Are you sure you are watching all of them correctly? She can not be allowed to succeed. I’m certain she already has her Celestial Laws of Fire absorbed."
"Young master, we have her Werdlem ID. We can completely block this Spirit’s access to the cultivation energies of the world if you do so," Galita said. "Then, whatever problem she might be causing you, we can easily deal with."
Gin got angry. "I already told you we can’t do that! She has isolated herself from the Werdlem Network! If we block her, she will have no reason to make an appearance ever again! By then, the item will be lost!"
"Could you at least tell us what kind of item it is? We might have a way of detecting its location." Galita asked, and she had done it the previous times Gin came to see her.
Yet, Gin refused. "That’s not something for the likes of you to know. Keep me informed. If she makes an appearance, I want her captured. Remember, she must not die, nor have her cultivation destroyed!"
"As you wish, young master Gin." Galita could only accept the orders.
Gin left right away, leaving Galita and a room full of annoyed people.
"Senior Galita, I know he is part of the Werdlem Imperial Family. Still, he is ranked pretty low among them. Why do you have to endure his bullshit?" One of her trusted subordinates asked.
Yet, Galita glared at him. "Shut up! It matters not their position. If they are a member of the Werdlem Imperial Family, they can’t be messed with, even someone like that guy. Now, make a quick check and see if our wards are still in place."
"As you wish, Senior Galita," the subordinate and the other workers quickly acted.
Meanwhile, Gin returned to his residence, an enormous palace only for himself. It didn’t have many workers, though. Just the necessary to keep things in order.
Going down to the lower levels, there was a chamber where one could see a man being held in midair by various formations. The man looked miserable, and one would wonder if he was even alive.
Gin waved his hand, and the formations reacted, bringing the man in front of him. "Have you remembered anything more useful? Because of that seal in your soul, I can’t force a soul search without destroying it."
The man slowly opened his eyes, despair on his face. "Y-Young master... I tru-truly told you everythin- cough, cough, cough... everything I know."
*Bzzz!*
*Arrrghhhh!*
Gin used the formation to torture the man, repeating the same question time and time again. He truly used the worst methods of torture he had access to, to the point that the man’s soul was hanging by a thread. It would have already dissipated if not for the formations holding it in place.
Still, regardless of how many times the man said he knew nothing else, Gin didn’t believe him. That’s because he knew what was at stake, and that was worth trading your life for. "Even if you said everything you know, perhaps there is something you overlooked. Try to think hard, and perhaps I can even set you free and heal your soul so you won’t just dissipate."
"Or maybe... you are still hoping you can put your hands on it yourself, waiting for a miracle. You have been stuck in the Peak Stage of the Celestial Realm for a very, very long time, after all. You have no hopes of ascension anymore. This is where your path ends, where the only thing you can do is wait until your heart decays... unless you put your hands on that, of course."
Gin smiled coldly. "I can see it, Toxa. It is there, in your heart, and it is growing, the decay, the craziness, the dead end, the oblivion, the loss of self. Every second you stay here, it grows. Your situation at the moment is only accelerating the inevitable. Why suffer until the very end instead of helping me get it? You won’t ascend, but you will live with the honour of having helped a pure descendant of the Werdlem Imperial Family. That should have been enough already, don’t you think? Maybe you can even find some other way in the future!"
A cold glint appeared in Toxa’s eyes as he glared at Gin. It was obvious Gin wouldn’t let him go. "Then why don’t you set me free and see how I will ’honour’ your death!"
*Bzzz!*
*Aaarrrrrrgghhhhhh!!!*
Gin didn’t seem to care. "Seems like you still have a will to fight in there. No matter. That spirit will appear sooner or later. There is no other way she can reach the Celestial Realm. Once I get her and take that vial of God Blood for myself, I will send you both on your way together."
Gin kept the formation active, torturing Toxa as he left. Who knows if Toxa would hold that long?
The so-called vial of God Blood... Yes, it was the same vial the twins were given by Havira! As for Toxa, he was none other than the man who was pursuing Havira for that vial! Or... at least he was...
