Death… And Me

Chapter 4243: They Will Serve

Chapter 4243: They Will Serve

The organization of the various battalions and such lasted for hours. The good thing was that the assaults were always found ahead of time as well. Besgol has plenty of sentries far into the Godly Creatures’ Zones that detect when they start to gather for the assaults.

The system was well organized, and everyone was in position by the time the Godly Creatures Tide arrived.

*Dummmmm...*

And it became pretty obvious when they did, because even before you could see a single one of them, the Godly Pressure assaulted everyone in the frontlines. This time, it was a lot stronger, and Gootiu ended up immobilized again.

Clayton, who was used to it, was affected as well, but his expression was calm. "Sorry for that. I wanted to let you guys stay close to the Godly Beast back in the Guild so you could get used to this, but the tide arrived just in time."

Several of the anscenders around also fell to the ground or found it hard to move. Rean, Roan, and Gootiu were already quite lucky, as Clayton brought them straight to the Guild. The others were actually directed to other places within the sect or within whatever organization they were part of, so they fared even worse.

Of course, not all the ascenders or the new youngsters in other groups fell because of the Godly Pressure. Some of them were able to adapt much faster, just like the twins, and it seemed like the Demon, Angel, and Devil beasts had a much easier time doing so. In their case, they were literally using their physical prowess to overcome the pressure.

"Don’t worry, seniors," Clayton spoke to Rean, Roan, and Gootiu only. "The higher the pressure, the faster it is to get used to it. Senior Rean and Roan seem fine already, but you will manage to move soon, too, Senior Gootiu. The battle probably won’t even start before you are already able to move again."

Gootiu was relieved to hear that. There was no point comparing himself to the twins, so he focused on himself again.

It was as Clayton mentioned. The Godly Creatures appeared in the distance, but it took them at least another ten minutes to get to the first lines of defense. The pressure eventually stabilized, and the twins’ bodies got used to it. As mentioned, the restrictions would always be present, but you could resist most of them depending on how much Celestial Energy you used to do it.

The frontlines, which were mostly made of Celestial Realm youngsters and a few ascenders, met the Godly Spawns. Blood quickly began to flow, but because the defenses had been prepared in time, most of those who died were the Godly Creatures.

Rean looked to the ground under the various battalions, regiments, brigades, and such, and he could easily see that many arrays were supporting those experts against the godly creatures. At the same time, Roan also saw Aura God Experts in strategic positions in the midst of the Anchor Gods, who gave support anytime something seemed to go bad.

Gootiu moved a little further ahead, watching the battles.

"Are you okay?" Rean asked the Spirit.

And Gootiu confirmed. "Yes. The restrictions that this pressure puts on me are high, but I think I can fight if necessary."

Rean turned to Clayton. "In the end, you didn’t really explain what this Godly Pressure is about. The alarm sounded before we got that far into the topic."

Seeing that no Godly Beast would make it through the defenses at that moment, Clayton began to explain what he knew. "Alright, Senior. Truth be told, no one is entirely certain what the Godly Pressure is, just that it exists everywhere in the Celestial Plane. The Godly Creatures can also emanate this pressure, which is actually higher when they do than the natural pressure you will feel outside once you leave for missions or whatever."

"However, this is not a bad thing," Clayton pointed to a specific region of the battlefield. There, they could see various experts dragging the bodies of the dead Godly Creatures further back into the defense lines. Then, another group that didn’t seem made for combat cut into the various types of dead creatures, soon pulling out what looked like star-shaped golden crystals.

Some had it in their heads, others in their abdomens, others were Godly Spirits whose cores were already the crystals themselves. One thing was certain, though. Every single creature, regardless of the race or level, had those star-shaped golden crystals.

Roan had noticed that. "What are those? Something like Celestial Stones?"

Clayton smiled. "Much better than Celestial Stones. They are exactly what is needed for those who wish to break through into the Anchor God Realm or above. To cultivate in the Celestial Plane, you need the Godly Energy of those Crystals."

"It is something you won’t find in the environment, like Celestial Energy or Celestial Stones in the mines. From what we know, the Godly Creatures are able to process the Godly Pressure and the Celestial Energy inside their bodies, transforming both into Godly Energy. We believe that is also why they can use the Godly Pressure on others."

Rean, Roan, and Gootiu looked at Clayton, surprised. "So just Celestial Energy isn’t enough?"

"Exactly, Seniors," and Clayton confirmed. "Celestial Energy can be used for combat and such, but for cultivation, Godly Energy is the main priority. It’s not that Celestial Energy can’t be used, though. Anyway, when these assaults, tides, hordes, stampedes, or whatever attacks occur, it is also an opportunity for all cultivators in the Besgol Region. Now, it will be better if the seniors look into the matter later with more calm. For now, just know that those Godly Crystals are extremely important."

Clayton pondered a bit. "Let’s see what else I can tell that would be useful right now..."

"Forget that," Roan said, his eyes focused on an area of the battlefield. "The first Godly Creatures are about to get here."

"Sea opening?" Rean asked, also having noticed the same thing.

And Roan confirmed. "No doubt."

Clayton and Gootiu couldn’t see what Rean and Roan could, though. "What are you talking about?"

Suddenly, five rolls of defense began to move, seemingly being pushed aside by the hordes of Godly Creatures. Those weren’t the only ones. Various other places also began to struggle, and finally...

*Bang!*

The hordes managed to break through the defenses, hundreds upon hundreds of them rushing at the new groups at the back. It was nothing compared to what the frontlines were dealing with, but they were plenty dangerous too.

Only at that point did Clayton and Gootiu understand. Looking at the places where the creatures broke through, it truly felt like the ’sea’ was opening for them, creating a route through which they passed. "How did you know?"

Rean smiled at the two. "It was on purpose. The frontlines are making it look like they failed to defend, but you could see it was going to happen if you paid attention to the experts at the back of those lines of defense. I wonder whether the experts in fighting there knew about it or just followed orders. Anyway, here comes the fun."

*Roar!*

The creatures spread everywhere, charging at the various groups at the back. The twins’ platoon, which had around thirty ascenders and some of their guiders, was targeted by ten of those creatures from the very start.

The weird thing was that there were no captains, commanders, or anything like that taking the reins of the twins’ platoon. Pretty much all the lines of new ascenders and youngsters were like that.

Rean snorted. "First things first, uh?"

Roan agreed. "They want to see how we react without a proper direction."

Rean and Roan walked forward, detaching from their platoon as the Crystal Void Scythes and Swords appeared in their hands.

"I’ll take five," Rean said.

"I guess the other five will serve as a warm-up," and Roan accepted.
