Chapter 4271: Just The Start
The tactic worked just fine. Use Kentucky to protect the guides as they lured the bigger groups in the following days. Then, from behind, Rean, Roan, and Celis got rid of the Godly Creatures that fell further back until only the Godly Beasts remained.
They had already tested their strength without the Yin Yang Sanctuary. Nonetheless, they refrained from using it unless it was really necessary. With that 24-hour cooldown, you would do better to keep it in reserve. Besides, the tactic was so good that they truly didn’t need to use the Sanctuary.
Finally, there were only three groups of Godly Creatures remaining, and the one they were looking at at the moment had nine Godly Beasts in their rankings. From afar, Kentucky shook his head. "There is no way I will be able to keep Juanita and the other two safe against the pursuit of nine Godly Beasts."
Kentucky looked at the guides. "And the next two groups have even more Godly Beasts in their ranks, right?"
"That’s correct," Semerio confirmed. "We can judge on their effect on the Sacred Relic’s Influence. We expect the last two, which are pretty similar in size, to have at least fifteen Godly Beasts each."
Roan narrowed his eyes. "So many Godly Beasts... and there are bound to be several times more Godly Spawns as well. Why did this mission take so long to be issued? It is not like the Godly Creatures enter the Sacred Relic’s influence every single day."
"Right..." Juanita, Semerio, and Roland sighed in response. "The first group invading was over three months ago. Once one of them gets inside, more will feel confident and enter the relic’s influence. Normally, a cleaning mission would be requested on the mainland the moment the first group appeared."
"However, it never starts straight away. Like you said, the Godly Creatures don’t invade every day. Even when there is a group inside, the next ones take a while to come, so the missions actually take at least a month to be issued."
"It is a tactic. When a group gets inside, it will attract the nearby groups, and you will know they are coming. That way, when the cleaning starts, you can get rid of pretty much all Godly Creatures of that area at once."
"This time it was supposed to be the same thing. Unfortunately, because of the last two Godly Creatures Horde, things got delayed. You probably haven’t seen it since you ascended recently, but there were two Hordes in a space of a month and a half coming from the Northwest side, our country’s side. You only saw and participated in the defense against the second horde."
"So... yes. Things here got harder to deal with, and just now they sent someone to get rid of the groups after they had accumulated quite a bit. I have no doubt in my mind that of all the Godly Creatures we killed, and these ones that are still alive, quite a lot of them came from further away inside the Godly Creatures’ Territory. That normally wouldn’t happen unless you have a lot of them inside already."
That proved one thing for the twins’ group. "So, even though they don’t have intelligence, the Godly Creatures still can feel each other’s presence from long distances. That’s why when they feel there is a group deeper inside the influence, the next groups follow."
"Yes," Semerio confirmed. "It was basically a combination of events that led to area F17 being invaded by more Godly Creatures due to the long time it took to send reinforcements. That’s also why we were angry that the mainland sent only four Anchor Gods to deal with it instead of Aura Gods."
"Of course, now we know your group is more than good enough for the job. It is impressive what a difference Weapon Intents can make at the lower realms."
Hearing that, Juanita couldn’t help but ask. "By the way, seniors. Do you really not know how you can use your Weapon Intents?"
Of course, they knew. It was because The Echo was mixed with the Celestial Plane’s properties during their new bodies’ creation. They obviously wouldn’t tell anyone about that. "We got that question a hundred thousand times already. After we got to the Wangamiglia Sect, we could tell there were plenty of Celestial Senses checking on us nonstop when we used them. Too bad that we really can’t tell why," Rean said.
"Sigh..." Juanita nodded. "Well, anomalies are anything but rare in the cultivation world."
At that moment, Roan decided what they were going to do. "The luring strategy would not work in the same way with that many Godly Beasts. Let’s change tactics, although we will use the lure plan."
"And how are we going to do that?" Kentucky asked.
"Pick-offs," Roan explained, then pointed at a Godly Spawn that was slightly removed from its group.
That sight puzzled the others. "Why is that one so far from the rest of the group?"
"The number of Godly Creatures," Roan explained. "Because this group is so much bigger, their combined Godly Pressure emission can force the Sacred Relic’s Power further away from them. That makes the Godly Spawns at the edges of the group feel safer and go a little further away to do their things."
"Oh!" Everyone had to admit it made sense.
"The guides will not take part this time. As for us, we will separate," Roan began to tell his plan.
---
One of the Godly Spawns near the edges suddenly noticed something. When it looked over, it saw a white-haired young man looking at him from afar. The young man, obviously, was Rean. Rean didn’t attack the Godly Spawn, though. He immediately turned around and ran away.
*Roar!*
The Godly Spawn roared, catching the others’ attention, who rushed over. However, by the time they got to where Rean was, Rean was nowhere to be seen. The creatures were puzzled, but that was about it. Without a target, there was nothing they could do.
Yet, not too far from that place...
*Swish! Swish!*
At the same time, also in another location...
*Puft, puft, puft!*
Two Scythes and Talons killed two Godly Spawns that didn’t hear the roar earlier. They fell to the ground, lifeless. They didn’t even have time to cry for help.
Roan and Kentucky immediately left the two locations, not bothering to touch the Godly Spawn’s body. The Godly Creatures that were still alive eventually found the bodies. However, they lacked intelligence, so those two bodies meant little to nothing to them.
That was just the start.
