Chapter 2729: Space Elevator
The Universal Conglomerate’s staff members matched Dreamland’s radio frequency and requested entry. Moments later, Dreamland’s staff members granted them permission.
The iridescent lights parted, revealing a passageway. The spaceship flew inside as instructed. Everyone on the spaceship examined their surroundings, but they couldn’t make out much through the thick layer of light.
Some time later, the area in front of them opened up, and a planet came into sight. A massive spaceport was present at the outer perimeter of the planet, and the spaceship was directed to stop there.
Employee 9527 walked up to Zu An and the others and said, “Esteemed guests, we’ll have to bid you farewell here as we aren’t allowed to enter Dreamland. Dreamland’s staff members will be leading you in. Be assured that we’ll be here to transport you back to your planets once you're done, provided you’re willing to leave.”
Zu An’s heart quivered. Many people had become reluctant to leave Dreamland after entering it, so he needed to be vigilant in case the same happened to him as well. There were many important people waiting for him at home.
After the spaceship docked, the doors opened, and the Conglomerate’s staff members guided the guests out.
Employee 9527 snuck over to Zu An’s side and said, “Brother Zu, take care of yourself!” He was also worried that Zu An wouldn’t return.
Zu An nodded. “Thank you. I’ll surely return, and I’ll be troubling you to send me back.”
“Haha, leave it to me!” Employee 9527 patted Zu An’s arms before waving him farewell.
Zu An alighted from the spaceship and gazed at the extravagant spaceport before him. I wonder what kind of technology they've employed here. Somehow, we’re able to walk normally here even though the port isn’t enclosed.
The different types of spaceships docked in the spaceport hinted at the diverse civilizations spread across the Myriad Worlds. It was weirdly beautiful. He even spotted a worm spaceship, something he had only seen in a sci-fi movie before.
He had to concede that the people in his previous world were very creative, to have created content that so strikingly resembled real life. Bizarre entities alighted from different spaceships, and they were quickly welcomed by the spaceport’s staff members.
Interestingly, the spaceport was able to dispatch staff members who corresponded to the guests’ races, and they could always converse fluently in the other party’s native language. This amazed the guests. No wonder people say it’s a place that can fulfill miracles.
The staff member who welcomed Zu An’s group was a human man. He flipped through his notebook and remarked in surprise, “Hm? There should be two more guests, right?”
“A mishap befell them. They won’t be able to make it in,” Firework replied with a smile.
“I see. Please follow me.” The staff member was already accustomed to such situations. Along the way, he politely asked, “Would you prefer to first have some afternoon tea at our spaceport, or would you like to head straight to Dreamland Hotel?”
“Of course we’ll head straight to Dreamland Hotel. I can’t wait to see the legendary Dreamland.” Firework’s voice quivered in excitement.
“You won’t be disappointed with Dreamland,” the staff member puffed up his chest and replied. He then turned to Zu An and Tingxue. “What about you two?”
“I’ll head straight to Dreamland Hotel, too,” Zu An replied. The spaceport was extravagant, but how could it compete with the true Dreamland?
Tingxue stood coolly without saying a word, but she appeared to implicitly agree with Zu An.
“Please follow me.” The staff member led the way.
Zu An examined the surroundings, though his focus was more on the other guests. Those bizarrely-dressed guests vocalized weird sounds that he wouldn’t have been able to understand before, but to his delight, he could understand everything that was being said.
Fluttering Baldie’s knowledge of languages is indeed amazing.
Some guests carried both curiosity and respect for Dreamland, and they couldn’t wait to explore the place. They discussed where to head next.
Meanwhile, others grimly warned their companions to remain vigilant. Unlike the ignorant newbies, they understood the dangers that lurked within Dreamland.
A small group of people looked relaxed and self-assured. Zu An couldn’t overhear their conversation, which suggested that they were all powerful experts. They were aware of the dangers surrounding Dreamland, but they were confident in their strength.
Soon, Zu An arrived before a giant building. Confused, he asked, “I thought we’d be riding on a flying ship or something?”
The staff member replied with a smile, “To elevate our guest experience, Dreamland has chosen to employ space elevators instead of using flying ships as a transportation medium.”
He ushered the guests toward the elevator lobby and pressed the down button. Soon, the elevator door opened. “Please enter.”
Firework looked at the elevator’s transparent glass walls, followed by the thick wires extending beneath the spaceport into the planet. She hesitantly asked, “Are you sure your elevator is reliable?”
The staff member replied, “Esteemed guest, please put your mind at ease. Our space elevator has never malfunctioned to date. Our space elevator also functions as a mini flying machine if anything happens, so you’ll land safely no matter what happens.”
Tingxue walked into the space elevator first without saying a word. She sat by the window to admire the scenery outside. It wouldn’t hurt her even if the space elevator suddenly exploded anyway.
Firework stuck out her tongue before dragging Zu An in with her.
Tingxue suddenly turned over, eyed their connected hands, and asked, “Are you two a couple?”
“None of your business.” Firework harrumphed. She'd wanted to convince Tingxue to worship Love and Beauty alongside her, but when she learned that the other party was a Nebula worshiper, she lost her interest.
Once a Nebula worshiper, always a Nebula worshiper.
“I’m merely curious. He mentioned that he has a wife.” Tingxue turned her head back and reverted to being an ice sculpture.
Zu An was speechless.
Firework was baffled too. She tugged Zu An’s arm, tiptoed, and whispered to him, “Is that woman jealous?”
“That’s impossible!” Zu An huffed. A Nebula worshiper wouldn’t harbor such feelings.
Firework thought that made sense.
Just then, the space elevator began moving. Her attention was immediately drawn to the scenery, her curious gaze flickering all around.
The spaceship traveled so smoothly that Zu An didn’t feel the slightest shake.
A sweet AI voice played to inform them about things they ought to take note of. At the same time, a massive screen appeared on the elevator door, playing Dreamland advertisements.
