Chapter 2811: The End
“Don’t worry. I've checked her body—it’s definitely good for childbirth. Have a pleasant night, the two of you.” Firework chuckled before leaping out the window.
Zu An was speechless.
“Big brother Yang, I’m cold...” Guo Fu embraced him tightly with her feverishly hot body. Perhaps due to her inner energy, her skin remained as supple as a youth.
Zu An narrowed his eyes. She isn’t thinking rationally. Someone must have drugged her. It has to be Firework’s doing as well. She’s truly a demoness; she doesn’t think things through before doing them.
He clenched his teeth in anger. In his current state, he couldn’t even get up and push away Guo Fu. All he could do was to channel his inner energy to unseal his acupoint as soon as possible.
But Guo Fu was already wrapping herself around him. Perhaps due to the drug or the series of blows she'd suffered, she murmured, “Big brother Yang, did you know that I fell in love with you at first sight back then? But I was young and didn’t know better. You weren’t as attentive to me as Dawu and Xiaowu, so we often fought.
“I was thrilled when I met you again in the Hero Tournament. I reacted angrily when I heard my father was going to betroth me to you, but in truth, I was secretly overjoyed. Yet you said that you were going to marry your master instead. I felt humiliated in front of everyone else. Since then, I've hated you.
“Everything that happened afterward was a result of that. I’m sorry. I know I’m letting Miss Long down, but I can’t hold myself back. Please don’t reject me...”
...
Hearing a beauty pour out her feelings left Zu An dazed.
She'll be inconsolable if she learns that Yang Guo is dead too. Her parents are dead. Her siblings are scattered around. Her husband betrayed her. Yang Guo’s death might be the last straw that causes her to crumble for good. It might be better for her to live blissfully in an illusion than to cruelly reveal the truth to her.
Guo Fu displayed her feminine charms and tenderly took in his everything. Tears of joy streamed down her eyes.
...
In a distant forest, Tingxue coldly eyed Firework. “Aren’t you being too cruel to her?”
Firework was unfazed. “I had no other choice. You refused to get off your high horse, so I had to resort to another measure.”
Tingxue was speechless.
Firework leaned in and asked, “Why? Does it hurt you to see the man you love sleep with another woman?”
Tingxue turned away. She couldn’t be bothered to respond.
Firework continued, “Her original fate was to fall into the hands of the Mongol soldiers. We saved her life and offered her a sanctuary for her soul when she was in despair. How are we being cruel to her? If anything, we're her benefactors.”
Tingxue frowned. She didn’t agree with that, but she couldn’t find the words to retort against it.
Firework continued, “Besides, do you think that the Soul Transference Method is really that effective in this world, which forbids supernatural powers?”
Tingxue widened her eyes in astonishment. Indeed, their old selves could have easily controlled the mind of a mortal, but it would be hard to pull it off impeccably in this world.
“No matter how dumb Guo Fu is, she’s bound to notice something over time. Yet the effects of the Soul Transference Method remain even after so long. This can only mean one thing—this is what she wants. She’s subconsciously keeping herself hypnotized because she doesn’t want to wake up from this lovely dream and face the hell known as reality,” Firework coldly replied.
Tingxue harrumphed. “I shouldn’t have expected anything less from the demoness who controlled Dreamland for many years. You’re skilled at weaving dreams for others.”
“Thanks for your compliment.”
“What do you intend to do next?”
“Have them work overtime to bear a baby.”
“...”
“You’ll raise the child as her mother.”
“???” Tingxue couldn’t maintain her nonchalance anymore. “You intend to kill her?”
Firework coldly pointed out, “Your mission is to leave behind a successor for the Ancient Tomb Sect, so that child has to be a descendant of the Condor Heroes. The world needs a Yellow Dress Maiden who believes that she’s the descendant of the Condor Heroes, not the offspring of Yang Guo and Guo Fu.”
“I’ll raise the child, but don’t you dare kill her,” Tingxue said before taking her leave. Her cold voice carried unwavering conviction.
Firework looked at Tingxue’s departing silhouette with a smile.
...
In order to ensure that her childbearing plan went smoothly, Firework closely supervised Zu An and Guo Fu for the next few months.
Fortunately, Guo Fu did have a constitution that was good for childbearing.
Zu An had been perplexed as to why Guo Fu and Yelu Qi had no offspring despite being married for so long, but the truth was now apparent to him. Guo Fu was in love with someone else, which had made her instinctively reject Yelu Qi.
The Yelu Clan had been on the decline, so Yelu Qi desperately needed Guo Jing and Huang Rong’s influence. Thus, he'd played along with Guo Fu and put on the appearance of a model couple before the world.
No wonder he defected to the Mongols. The situation must have been incredibly stifling to him.
After suffering a series of major setbacks, Guo Fu had grown more mature. She was even willing to lower herself before Tingxue, fearing that the latter harbored a grudge against her for all the hurt she had caused them in their earlier years that would tear them apart.
She didn’t have her parents’ protection anymore, and she was no match for ‘Xiaolongnu’. She was well aware that if a conflict broke out between them, ‘Yang Guo’ would side with his beloved ‘Xiaolongnu’.
So, she kept an extremely humble posture and finally convinced 'Xiaolongnu' to accept her.
While living in the ancient tomb, Guo Fu swiftly discovered that ‘Yang Guo’ and ‘Xiaolongnu’ were nowhere as close as the world thought. More often than not, the two of them spent their time alone in their respective rooms.
Soon, she began straightening her back again, as she came to believe that she was the one whom ‘Yang Guo’ was truly in love with. She even tried picking a fight with ‘Xiaolongnu’, only for the latter to beat her up. She reverted to her humble attitude afterward.
Nevertheless, she still felt indignant.
I might be no match for Xiaolongnu alone, but I should be able to deal with her if I have my little sister’s help. I heard that Xiang’er became a grandmaster and founded the E’mei Sect.
On that note, she did feel apologetic to her little sister. She knew that her little sister harbored deep feelings for Yang Guo, having devoted more than a decade of her life to scouring the world in search of Yang Guo, yet she'd slipped in and gotten together with Yang Guo before her.
When she received Guo Fu’s letter requesting help, Firework rolled on the floor in laughter.
But she did miss Zu An, and she'd already taken in Abbess Fengling as her disciple anyway. So, she used the pretext of looking for a remote place to train to leave E’mei Mountain and visit Mount Zhongnan’s ancient tomb.
Guo Fu was initially overjoyed to have found an ally. She proactively tried to matchmake her little sister with ‘Yang Guo’, not knowing that the two of them were already together.
To her dismay, her little sister was closer to ‘Xiaolongnu’ and refused to help her. To make things worse, after her little sister joined them, ‘Yang Guo’ stayed in her room less often. This filled her with regret.
On the whole, though, the four of them lived in harmony.
Seasons came and went. Decades passed. Guo Fu passed away after living a fulfilling life. Zu An and the others had also grown old and ailing.
Over the years, Zu An had been steadily completing his missions.
He'd found the young Yang Dingtian and imparted the Nine Heavens Palm to him.
He'd secretly taken in Cheng Kun as his disciple and imparted to him the Yiyin Finger.
He'd found a youth named Feng Qingyang in the Huashan Sect and imparted the Nine Swords of Dugu to him.
He'd also found an oppressed eunuch in the imperial palace and imparted the Sunflower Manual to him.
He'd also secretly arranged for the old Cheng Ying to take in a disciple named Yang Xiao and impart to him Plum Blossom Island’s Divine Finger Flick.
Meanwhile, Lu Wushuang quietly honed the Five Poison Art she'd learned from Li Mochou back then at the southern border and eventually founded the Five Poisons Sect.
...
Everything had gone according to plan, but Zu An felt increasingly uneasy.
He felt as if he had overlooked something, but that was impossible. The three of them had been constantly discussing their plans, and they had already considered everything.
Shortly after, however, they received news that Isabella had died in Persia. Perhaps struck by that revelation, Firework and Tingxue passed away shortly after as well.
Zu An sat on a chair in a courtyard, watching the setting sun. He could feel his life force slowly seeping away. He was at his limit as well.
But why? Why can’t I see any signs of us clearing the trial even at this point?
