Chapter 2882: The Position of An Elder

“You’re behind this?” The Annihilation Progenitor glared at the Deity of Chaos and Enigma.

Mi Li chuckled. “It was a random piece I inserted. I didn’t expect it to work.”

A powerful aura rippled from the Annihilation Progenitor as it looked as if they were going to destroy the world, but Mi Li stopped them. “Are you going to be a sore loser? We agreed to insert our representatives and let them fight it out. Are you going to personally intervene now?”

The black hole distorted, but sensing the other universal deity’s aura, they had no choice but to swallow this bitter pill and leave.

Meanwhile, a summoning gate appeared in the sky of the world where Zu An and the others were. The foreign visitors were all transported back to their original worlds.

Despite clutching tightly onto Yu Yanluo and the others, when Zu An regained his senses, he found himself transported back to the Universal Conglomerate, and none of his women were with him.

“Big brother Zu!” While Zu An was still dazed, a fragrance plunged into his arms. Isabella was so moved that she burst into tears. “I knew you would find a way out. I’m sorry. I misunderstood you.”

Her body was trembling as years of suppressed emotions spilled out from her.

She had been a flower in a greenhouse from a young age. While her previous encounter with Zu An in Dreamland had brought about some growth, having her nation and family destroyed, her faith shattered, and being forced to fight in a completely helpless battle were still too much for her to bear.

She had grown a lot over the years. She'd been forced to push her vulnerability down into the depths of her heart, as that environment she had been in allowed for no weakness.

It was only now, when she was before her lover, that she could finally show her truest side.

Knowing that the other party had single-handedly turned the situation around made her so overjoyed that she couldn’t help but cry tears of joy.

Zu An awkwardly glanced at Chu Chuyan, only to see that the latter had averted her eyes to look at the scenery outside. She was pretending not to notice. So, he tightly embraced Isabella and gently consoled her.

Just then, Aragorn walked over and said, “We already know about what happened during the Order Ceremony. I didn’t expect our fellow brothers to turn against us.”

Hearing her father’s voice, Isabella snapped out of her daze and shyly pushed Zu An away.

Zu An looked around and asked, “Why don’t I see Sixth Elder Naraka around?”

Had Sixth Elder Naraka not surrendered to the Annihilation faction right from the start, the Order faction wouldn’t have suffered such a tragic defeat.

“He has switched his faith to Annihilation. Naturally, he has already severed ties with us,” Aragorn sneered. “I’d skin him if he dared return here!”

Zu An breathed a sigh of relief. At least he wouldn’t have to worry about Jiang Luofu and the others being transported back to the Annihilation faction’s camp. The only one he had to worry about was Zhao Xiaodie.

I wonder if she’ll meet with danger when she returns to the Annihilation faction. But I've been helping her with her cultivation in the past few years, and she’s much stronger than before now. With her sharp wits, she should be able to protect herself.

“What do you plan to do now? I learned that the Deity of Order has...” Zu An asked.

“The Deity of Order has fallen,” Aragorn declared. Sorrow could be seen on the faces around.

Zu An was perplexed. These people were grieving, but he had expected their response would be much more intense, considering how they had just lost their faith.

“Did Annihilation worshipers exploit this opportunity to attack the Conglomerate?”

The Universal Conglomerate’s rise to prominence could be credited to its Seven Elders’ competency and the Deity of Order’s protection. But the Deity of Order had fallen, and there were only two of the Seven Elders left in the Conglomerate. There were bound to be people who coveted the Conglomerate’s astronomical wealth now that it was down in the gutter.

“The great Deity of Protection has responded to our earnest wish to protect the Conglomerate,” Aragorn spoke with reverence. “As long as the Deity of Protection is around, no scum will dare to cause trouble.”

Zu An was speechless. The intense faith he felt from Aragorn sent chills down his spine.

Naraka had defected to Annihilation, and Mastema had secretly thrown his lot with Reproduction. Even Hermes, the man who built the Conglomerate to its current greatness, had abandoned Order and joined Love and Beauty. Lilith also seemed more like a worshiper of Bliss and Desire, or she could have joined Love and Beauty together with Hermes.

Only First Elder Oberon had been a stalwart Order worshiper. The others were all black sheep.

Now, it would appear that Aragorn was no exception. Chances were that he had secretly defected to the Deity of Protection long ago, and the Order Ceremony was an elaborate scheme to change the power dynamics within the Conglomerate.

And the final winner was evidently Aragorn.

But Zu An didn’t let anything slip. He continued interacting with Aragorn with a pleasant smile.

A grand night banquet followed. It celebrated the return of the Order worshipers and Zu An’s legendary comeback against the Annihilation faction. There had been too much negative news shrouding the Conglomerate recently so they urgently needed something positive to lift the people’s morale.

Aragorn generously praised Zu An for fighting against all odds to turn the tables on the Annihilation faction. No one refuted him, be it the Conglomerate’s members or the guests from the Myriad Worlds.

None of them thought that they could have reversed the tides in such a dire situation, unless they somehow knew about the other elders’ betrayal in advance.

In fact, despite having an overview of the situation, they'd had no idea what Zu An was doing. Even at the last moment, all of them had thought that the Annihilation faction had succeeded in their ploy, and the Annihilation Progenitor had obtained that world.

So, they were extremely shocked when things flipped around at the end. They hadn't thought that such a maneuver could have been possible.

By replacing the Annihilation envoy’s bloodline with his own, he'd reaped the fruits of centuries of hard work by the Annihilation faction. It was such a stylish comeback.

The crowd felt a mixture of awe and vigilance. I must keep him away from the women in my household. Otherwise, I might just get cuckolded without realizing it.

As the banquet’s atmosphere reached its peak, Aragorn suddenly announced, “Our Conglomerate has always been governed by the Seven Elders, but we have woefully lost five elders in the Order Ceremony. Still, the Conglomerate has to function. We’ll need to fill up the remaining five seats. Ah Zu has made a huge contribution this time, so I propose granting him one of the elder positions. Does anyone disagree with that?”

The crowd erupted in cheers.

With the other elders gone, Aragorn naturally assumed the highest position within the Conglomerate. He was undisputedly the First Elder, and Zu An was his future son-in-law. No one would be so tactless as to speak up against this motion.

There were still other elder seats available, so there was no need for them to vie over this one, especially since Zu An was very much befitting of it.

Isabella voiced her complaint, “Father, I disagree! Doesn’t that mean that I’ll call him uncle in the future?”

Aragorn burst into laughter. “Don’t worry about that. They are separate matters.”

The other guests chuckled. Isabella’s face reddened, and she snuck a glance at Zu An.

But Zu An grimly replied, “I’m afraid that I’ll have to turn down your kind offer, uncle.”
