Chapter 3351: The Troublesome Infant
Lin Mu stood in the cold chamber with Tao Yinsu tucked under his arm like an unruly, foul mouthed bundle of chaos. His mind churned rapidly. The situation was far from simple.
He could not leave this child here. That much was clear.
Even if the Binggan Clan agreed to treat the baby well, Tao Yinsu was a walking... no just a wiggling disaster waiting to happen. Once he started crawling or walking it will only get worse.
He had the temperament of a drunk immortal, the discipline of a loose cannon, and likely the potential to cause an entire world to descend into madness with nothing more than tongue and temper.
Lin Mu imagined what would happen if this baby grew into a toddler with the same mouth. Then a five year old. Then a teenager...
He felt his soul ache.
Tao Yinsu kicked his tiny legs, breaking Lin Mu’s grim thoughts.
"Hey, hey, fake monk guy. Do not look like that. You look like someone just told you that your entire stash of wine turned into vinegar. Should I sing for you? I can sing. I once sang a battle song that made a dragon weep."
Lin Mu stared at him.
Tao Yinsu coughed."Well, it might have been a lizard beast. But the point remains."
Lin Mu simply exhaled.
He remembered Xukong’s earlier words. If Tao Yinsu truly was a reincarnator, there was a chance his memories would continue to return. Even fragments of celestial knowledge were valuable. Even the smallest technique or insight from the higher realms could change everything.
Lin Mu also realized how much trouble a single reincarnator could cause if left unfettered.
A reincarnated immortal child with no filter, no restraint, and the personality of a drunken swindler would bring chaos to the entire world.
’No.’ Lin Mu had no choice.
He would take responsibility.
He would watch Tao Yinsu, guide him, and prevent him from burning down a world with his personality alone. As for traveling to the dwarves, that could wait. They would not be going anywhere, hidden deep within their secret base. Time was on Lin Mu’s side.
Decision made, he gently carried Tao Yinsu out of the chamber.
When they returned to the waiting hall, the Patriarch and elders stood trembling, unsure what verdict awaited them. Lin Mu motioned for the patriarch to follow him, and once all his companions were present, he gave them a complete rundown of what he had learned.
The room fell silent for several seconds. Then the Patriarch’s jaw hung open.
"You mean to say... the child truly is the reincarnation of an immortal...?"
Lin Mu nodded.
The old patriarch staggered, leaning heavily on the nearest table. The elders whispered among themselves with horror and awe. They had locked a reincarnated immortal underground, placed arrays on him, starved him, and essentially treated him like cursed livestock.
Daoist Chu blinked repeatedly, trying to process the information.
"So the baby is really a reincarnator. Just like the novels we used to read at the sect. Fascinating. But also terrifying. Mostly terrifying."
Cattaleya scratched her cheek and frowned."Wait. Then does this mean he is older than all of us combined?"
Tao Yinsu, now seated on a cushion, puffed out his chest proudly.
"Older than your grandmothers, your dogs, your ancestors, and the mountain your ancestors lived on. Bow before your elder."
Cattaleya snorted and poked the baby’s cheek.
"You do not look like an elder."
Tao Yinsu scowled. "I am trapped in a baby body. Show some pity, you walking mountain of muscles."
Lin Mu sighed.
Meng Bai raised his hand like a student in class.
"Excuse me. Mister reincarnated baby. How was it to die? Did it hurt?"
Tao Yinsu blinked.
"I do not remember, genius. I was alive. Then I was dead. Then I was gooey and covered in amniotic fluid. I did not exactly get a chance to narrate the transition."
Meng Bai nodded, disappointed.
Daoist Chu leaned forward.
"How did the afterlife feel?"
Tao Yinsu gave him a blank stare.
"I already said I do not remember. It was like I fell asleep without dreams. One moment I was alive, then nothing, then I was crying in a land of idiots."
Cattaleya raised a finger. "How did you get reincarnated? Is it a technique? A blessing? A curse? A unique soul thing?"
Tao Yinsu spread his hands helplessly.
"No idea. I might have angered a celestial. Or maybe I tripped and died. Or maybe my enemies cursed me. Or maybe I reincarnated because the heavens wanted entertainment. I was not given a memo."
Cattaleya groaned.
Elyon squinted at the infant.
"What cultivation technique are you using? What type of Dao did you cultivate?"
Tao Yinsu shrugged again.
"No idea. I only know that when I breathe, the Qi enters perfectly. When I circulate, it flows smoothly. When I try to meditate, my baby limbs fall asleep. I hate it here."
The elders of the Binggan Clan stared at this conversation with a mixture of fear, awe, and utter confusion.
But when Tao Yinsu opened his mouth again, they froze.
He turned to the Patriarch with a glare.
"You. Yes, you. The one who locked me in a cellar. Come here."
The Patriarch trembled. "Yes, senior?"
"Senior? That is right. Now listen closely. If you ever stuff me in a cold stone basement again, I will haunt your dreams. I will haunt your ancestors. I will haunt your ancestor’s chickens. I will turn your entire clan house into a public toilet."
The Patriarch collapsed to his knees.
"Forgive us..."
Lin Mu cleared his throat. "That is enough."
Tao Yinsu crossed his arms... Or at least tried to.
"They locked me up. They deserve a short lecture."
Lin Mu glared.
Tao Yinsu pouted. "Fine. Fine."
Cattaleya smirked.
"So, little guy, are you scared of Lin Mu?"
Tao Yinsu turned to her, eyes gleaming, and spoke in an overly dramatic voice.
"Nothing scares me, woman shaped like a brick wall. The only thing I fear is being stuck in this chubby body forever. And maybe spiders. Spiders are the true enemy of the heavens."
