Chapter 3800: Peak Of Rejects
The elder hesitated, then sighed as he answered Little Bull’s question. "Because Wild Peak is... different."
The second elder immediately continued. "Different means chaotic."
High Elder Shatter Peak’s eye twitched. "Different means disorganized." Another twitch.
"Different means no proper structure." A third twitch.
"They have no consistent training methodology." The giant cracked his knuckles.
"They throw disciples into random situations." The giant’s eye twitched again.
"Their hierarchy is confusing."
A vein appeared on High Elder Shatter Peak’s forehead.
"Their missions are unpredictable." Another vein appeared.
"They simply choose training methods based on whim."
BOOM!
High Elder Shatter Peak slammed a massive fist onto a nearby table and the furniture instantly shattered.
Everyone jumped after seeing that.
"WE DO NOT PICK RANDOMLY!" The giant’s voice shook the hall and several recruits stumbled backward.
"We utilize comprehensive adaptive development strategies!"
The hall became silent as the two body cultivation elders stared.
One finally spoke. "That’s literally a more complicated way of saying random."
Several elders burst into laughter while High Elder Shatter Peak pointed furiously. "It is not random!"
"Then explain it."
The giant opened his mouth, paused, thought, then spoke almost in a wise tone. "We train according to whatever works."
The hall exploded with laughter again.
"You see?" The two elders immediately seized the opportunity. "That’s exactly what we mean."
High Elder Shatter Peak glared. "You fools wouldn’t understand."
The giant jabbed a finger toward Little Bull. "A disciple like him doesn’t need rules."
The first elder folded his arms. "And what exactly does he need?"
Shatter Peak answered instantly. "Punching."
The hall laughed even harder.
"Punching?" the elder repeated.
"Punching."
"And?"
"More punching."
The elder stared. "That’s your plan?"
The giant nodded confidently. "Worked for me."
At this point even Little Bull looked confused. The other elders sensed weakness and immediately joined the attack. After all, while they had already accepted that Little Bull would probably enter one of the body cultivation peaks, they certainly preferred seeing High Elder Shatter Peak lose.
One sword elder stepped forward. "Junior Bull should know the truth."
High Shatter Peak glared but the sword elder ignored him. "Wild Peak is essentially the sect’s war hammer."
Little Bull blinked. "Hammer?"
"They solve problems through violence."
High Elder Shatter Peak grinned proudly hearing that.
The sword elder sighed. "See? He thinks that’s a compliment."
Several elders nodded when another elder from the Alchemy Division joined in. "Wild Peak disciples spend half their lives fighting."
"Good."
"They cause incidents constantly."
"Excellent."
"They get into duels every month."
"Too few."
The alchemy elder looked exhausted.
Another elder spoke. "They receive disciplinary notices more than every other peak combined."
High Elder Shatter Peak folded his arms proudly. "We hold records."
The hall erupted again.
A formation elder added fuel to the fire. "Wild Peak exists because the sect couldn’t figure out what else to do with them."
Several elders nodded.
"They reject authority."
"They ignore regulations."
"They create trouble."
"They destroy infrastructure."
"They terrify administrators."
"They terrify accountants."
That last statement earned vigorous agreement.
High Elder Shatter Peak looked completely unashamed. "You say all that like it’s bad."
The administrative elders nearly had heart attacks hearing that.
One elderly administrator pointed angrily. "Last year alone your peak destroyed three training grounds!"
"They were weak."
"You demolished a warehouse!"
"It was in the way."
"You punched through a formation wall!"
"I was testing it."
"You collapsed an entire mountain!"
The giant looked thoughtful. "It wasn’t a very good mountain."
Several recruits nearly fell over laughing but Little Bull listened carefully.
Then asked a question. "So Wild Peak fights a lot?"
"Yes!"
Shatter Peak answered immediately.
Little Bull nodded. "Gets food?"
The giant blinked, then laughed loudly. "Tons. Literally."
Little Bull nodded again. "Strong people?"
"The strongest."
"Lots of fighting?"
"The most."
"Food?"
"The best."
The giant crossed his arms triumphantly. "See? He understands."
Several elders wanted to cry and at this point the other body cultivation elders were growing increasingly frustrated.
One finally snapped. "You’re recruiting him like you’re buying livestock!"
High Elder Shatter Peak looked genuinely offended. "No."
The giant pointed at Little Bull. "Livestock doesn’t punch immortal beasts to death."
The hall fell silent as that was difficult to argue against.
Then another elder attempted a final attack. "Wild Peak is filled with rejects."
Instantly the temperature in the room seemed to drop as High Elder Shatter Peak slowly turned. The giant’s smile disappeared and several nearby elders immediately stepped back in fear.
The elder who spoke suddenly regretted everything.
High Elder Shatter Peak’s voice became quiet, dangerously quiet.
"Rejects?"
The elder swallowed.
"I merely meant..."
The giant took a step forward as the floor cracked.
KACHA
"You call my disciples rejects?"
Several Discipline Division elders immediately became nervous. One quietly prepared a talisman while another discreetly moved toward the exit, totally intending on skipping out on his duty and taking a personal day off.
The elder who spoke retreated a step. "I didn’t mean it like that."
"Oh?"
Another step.
CRACK.
The floor broke again.
"Then how did you mean it?"
Nobody answered as the giant swept his gaze across the room. His eyes lingered on every elder who had mocked Wild Peak.
"Listen carefully." His voice echoed throughout the hall. "Every battlefield this sect has conquered."
Silence.
"Every war this sect has won."
More silence.
"Every crisis that required blood instead of paperwork to solve."
The giant jabbed a thumb into his chest. "Wild Peak was there."
Nobody spoke as the giant continued.
"When your formations fail."
"When your talismans burn out."
"When your swords break."
"When your plans collapse."
The giant’s grin slowly returned.
"You send... for us."
Several elders looked away, because nobody could deny it. Wild Peak might be chaotic, they might be violent, they might be troublesome, but they were also the people sent when things truly became dangerous.
The giant finally pointed at Little Bull. "And that boy belongs with warriors. Real warriors."
The hall fell silent once more as nobody laughed or argued. Even the Discipline Division elders stopped sweating for a moment. Because for the first time since entering the room, High Elder Shatter Peak had stopped joking.
And everyone present could tell he was completely serious about taking Little Bull for himself.
