Chapter 3866: The Wary Peak Head
Peak Head Mountain Roar ignored their conversation.
"What happened after they left?" He asked.
Little Bull continued. "I kept cooking."
High Elder Shatter Peak nodded approvingly. "Good."
"Then I heard a stomach."
The three stared at him.
"A stomach?" High Elder Palm Saber repeated.
"Rumbling." Little Bull clarified.
"Oh."
"I thought it was mine."
High Elder Shatter Peak laughed.
"But it wasn’t." Little Bull continued. "There was a girl in a tree."
Peak Head Mountain Roar’s expression remained still. "What did she look like?"
Little Bull thought for a moment. "Small."
"How small?"
Little Bull held his hand around the height he remembered. "About this much."
High Elder Palm Saber estimated it. "Perhaps ten years old in appearance."
Little Bull nodded.
"She had pink hair." The moment those words left Little Bull’s mouth, Lin Mu noticed another change.
Peak Head Mountain Roar’s fingers moved. It was barely noticeable. His right index finger had been resting against the arm of his throne and for a fraction of a second, it pressed down.
The stone beneath his finger cracked as a tiny fracture appeared. Then it healed almost instantly under the effects of the Array and neither High Elder seemed to notice but Lin Mu did.
’He knows something.’
Little Bull continued. "Her clothes were pink too."
High Elder Shatter Peak frowned. "Pink hair?"
"Yes."
"Natural?"
"I don’t know."
"Anything else?"
"She was hungry."
High Elder Palm Saber stared at him. "That’s what you noticed?"
Little Bull nodded. "She ate half a boar."
High Elder Shatter Peak’s expression softened. "Good appetite."
High Elder Palm Saber turned toward him. "Focus."
"I am focused."
Little Bull continued explaining.
He told them how the girl had been sitting silently upon the tree branch and how he had somehow failed to notice her arrival. He explained how she stared at the meat until he offered some to her.
Then he described how she had eaten nearly half of a Root Turner Boar.
"Half?" High Elder Shatter Peak asked.
"Yes."
"Good."
High Elder Palm Saber closed his eyes.
Little Bull then told them about the brief conversation. "I asked her name."
"What did she say?" Peak Head Mountain Roar finally asked.
"Pink." The hall became quiet again.
High Elder Shatter Peak frowned. "Pink?"
Little Bull nodded.
"Just Pink?"
"Yes."
High Elder Palm Saber rubbed his chin. "Could be a nickname."
"That’s what I thought." High Elder Shatter Peak replied. "Someone with pink hair calling themselves Pink is hardly creative."
Little Bull continued. "I asked which division she was from."
High Elder Palm Saber leaned forward slightly. "What did she say?"
"The big one."
High Elder Shatter Peak and High Elder Palm Saber stared while Peak Head Mountain Roar remained silent.
"The big one?" High Elder Shatter Peak repeated.
Little Bull nodded. "What does that mean?"
"I don’t know." Little Bull replied.
High Elder Palm Saber frowned. "The Heavenly Stream Guardian Sect has hundreds of divisions."
"Many of them are big." High Elder Shatter Peak added.
"Some are very big."
"The Administrative Division is big."
"The Beast Division is big."
"The Formation Division is big."
"The Man Peak is annoyingly big."
High Elder Palm Saber nodded. "Very annoyingly big."
Peak Head Mountain Roar finally spoke. "It could have been someone from another division."
His tone was calm, too calm that Lin Mu noticed it immediately.
Little Bull tilted his head. "Which one?"
"There are countless people in this world." Peak Head Mountain Roar replied. "You will encounter many disciples and Elders you have never seen before."
High Elder Shatter Peak nodded. "Pink is probably a nickname."
"Most likely." High Elder Palm Saber agreed.
Little Bull looked between them. "Then who is she?"
"We don’t know." High Elder Shatter Peak replied.
Lin Mu almost smiled internally as the answer had come too quickly. High Elder Shatter Peak truly did not know and High Elder Palm Saber probably did not know either. But Peak Head Mountain Roar was different.
Lin Mu could feel it. The old man knew something. Perhaps he did not know the exact identity of the girl. Still, the mention of pink hair had clearly affected him. Little Bull opened his mouth but before he could utter a word, Peak Head Mountain Roar spoke.
"You should train."
Little Bull paused. "Now?"
"Yes."
"What should I train?"
"The Primordial Path."
Little Bull nodded slowly. "Okay."
"Practice the vitality saturation method I showed you." Peak Head Mountain Roar continued. "Start with your arms. Once you are comfortable, move toward your torso."
Little Bull stood. "Can I eat first?"
High Elder Shatter Peak laughed. "Of course."
Peak Head Mountain Roar nodded. "Eat. Then train."
Little Bull smiled. "Okay."
He bowed to the three Elders before turning around and walking toward the doors. Lin Mu did not ask another question, for he knew when to stop. The Peak Head had deliberately ended the conversation.
Pressing further would achieve nothing.
Worse, it might make the old man wonder why Little Bull was so interested in a random girl.
’There’s definitely something strange about Pink.’ Lin Mu thought.
Unfortunately, he had no way to spy upon the three. Using his Immortal Sense was too risky. The Abyssal Horizon Veil Seal remained unstable whenever Lin Mu exerted too much of his actual cultivation.
Phase would not help either as Peak Head Mountain Roar was a Transcendent Immortal level body cultivator. Lin Mu had no confidence in hiding from someone like that while remaining close enough to hear their conversation.
’I will get another opportunity.’ Thinking of that, Lin Mu calmly left the hall and the doors closed behind him.
Several seconds passed before High Elder Shatter Peak turned toward Peak Head Mountain Roar. "Peak Head."
The old man remained silent.
High Elder Palm Saber frowned. "A girl with pink hair."
High Elder Shatter Peak crossed his arms. "Is there really someone like that in our sect?"
Peak Head Mountain Roar did not answer.
High Elder Palm Saber continued. "Someone with that appearance who can fly is certainly an Immortal."
High Elder Shatter Peak nodded. "At minimum."
