Chapter 4012: Zhenyu’s Mysterious Methods
The group fell silent and Lin Mu looked at the empty desk. He already knew why the room was so clean. Taegong had expected scrutiny. Someone who had gone through the trouble of hiding an office would certainly have taken precautions after carrying out such a scheme.
Yet the man had made one mistake, he had assumed that removing physical evidence would erase everything.
Lin Mu smiled and the elders noticed.
Palm Saber looked at him. "Senior?"
Lin Mu raised one hand. "Stand back."
The elders obeyed and Lin Mu waved his hand. Immortal Qi spread through the room as several formations appeared. The elders stared as one formation appeared above the desk, another beneath the floor, another around the walls, another in the air and one formed around Lin Mu himself.
The formations overlapped before they began moving.
Lin Mu’s fingers danced through the air as the formations rotated. Their patterns changed and one array connected to another. A third formation began extracting traces from the second while the fourth reconstructed the spatial fluctuations left behind by the previous formations.
The entire process was so complicated that the elders gradually became confused. They had lived for countless years and as such they were not ignorant of formations. Every elder in the room had at least a basic understanding of formation principles.
Yet what Zhenyu was doing was beyond them.
Palm Saber narrowed his eyes. He could see the individual formation structures and could recognize some of the principles, but once Lin Mu connected them together, everything became incomprehensible.
It was as though he were watching someone reconstruct an entire language from scattered letters. Minutes passed as Lin Mu continued. Sweat did not appear on his face and his breathing remained steady.
His fingers moved with absolute confidence and a while later the formations began to settle. A faint glow appeared in front of him, when Lin Mu reached into his storage treasure and a jade slip appeared in his hand.
He placed it within the formation and the glowing lights flowed into it. Information began transferring and a few breaths later, the process ended. Lin Mu took the jade slip into his hand and looked at it.
Palm Saber immediately stepped forward. "What is that?"
"The proof you need." Lin Mu tossed the jade slip toward him.
Palm Saber caught it while the other elders gathered around.
"Activate it." Palm Saber injected Immortal Qi and the jade slip lit up.
The scene before them changed, as a recording appeared. It showed the vault, Little Bull and most importantly it showed Taegong. The elders watched silently.
They saw Taegong mocking Little Bull. They saw him deliberately provoke the disciple. They saw him order Little Bull into the cell. Then the scene changed and Taegong returned to his hidden office.
He sat down but now his expression was completely different. He looked pleased as he spoke to himself. The recording captured his words. He spoke about how the situation could be used to weaken Wild Peak.
He spoke about creating a pretext. He spoke about how Little Bull had been useful. He spoke about how the incident would cause conflict between Wild Peak and the Law Division. Seeing this the elders’ faces gradually darkened.
The recording continued as there was more. There were conversations, movements, arrangements being made, as well as Taegong’s actions, his intentions and preparations. The deeper the recording went, the uglier the expressions of the Wild Peak elders became.
Finally, Palm Saber could no longer contain himself.
"TAEGONG!" His roar shook the entire vault as the walls trembled.
"YOU BASTARD!" His aura erupted.
WHOOSH
Several nearby disciples stumbled.
Another elder clenched his fists so tightly that his knuckles cracked. "That bastard was behind it all!"
"No wonder Little Bull managed to get inside!"
"He intentionally made it possible!"
"He framed Little Bull!"
"He was against Wild Peak from the beginning!"
"Little Bull is innocent!"
The voices erupted together and the collective aura of the elders became terrifying. The vault trembled as dust fell from the ceiling and several formation fragments that had already been damaged completely collapsed under the pressure.
Lin Mu stood calmly among them.
He watched their fury and understood it. This was no longer about one disciple. Wild Peak had been insulted and its authority had been undermined. To top it off one of its disciples had been deliberately framed.
And according to what they had just witnessed, the entire situation had been engineered to weaken the peak.
That was an attack on their identity, on their pride and on their home.
High Elder Palm Saber’s fists trembled. "Never in the history of our peak have we been subjected to such treachery." His voice was filled with rage. "It would already be unforgivable if this were merely some political scheme. Yet this goes far beyond that."
He pointed toward the jade slip. "Just for his scheme, that bastard threw Little Bull into the Mad Demon Depths!"
The elders became even more furious. "That alone deserves punishment!"
"We have to take revenge!"
"Send people after Taegong!"
"Wherever he is, find him!"
Another elder suddenly spoke. "Even sending Peak Head out of the world was part of their scheme!"
Palm Saber turned and his eyes were burning.
"Yes." The elder’s voice shook. "They wanted Peak Head away. They wanted Wild Peak weakened. Then they created this incident and pushed the blame onto us."
The realization spread through the group and their anger became almost tangible. Several disciples outside the room could sense the enormous aura leaking from the vault. Some looked toward the entrance nervously.
The vault was fortunate that High Elder Shatter Peak and Peak Head Mountain Roar were not present. If they had witnessed the recording personally, the consequences could have been disastrous.
Mountain Roar was already known for his explosive temper.
If he learned that an internal scheme had deliberately targeted Wild Peak, imprisoned one of its disciples, manipulated the Law Division, and even contributed to his absence from the sect, there was a good chance the Peak Head would declare the matter a Closed Fist situation immediately.
