Chapter 3211: Who’d Care About a Dead Woman?
Ning Shu repeatedly persuaded Lianqiao before she could finally go on a walk on her own. She had Lianqiao wait for her at a restaurant.
Ning Shu followed behind Yin Qing’s carriage.
Inside the carriage, Yin Qing had tightly bound Hongling’s wound to prevent excessive blood loss, though it still dripped everywhere.
The carriage drove straight out of the city and arrived at a secluded manor with a farm in the countryside.
It was a small property, which was inconspicuous and out of the way.
Hongling was dragged off the carriage. Yin Qing stood straight-backed, aiming a gun at her.
Hong Ling now knew just how deadly that thing was. She used her hands to brace herself as she backed away while wincing in pain. “Miss Yin, have you really thought this through? If you kill me, do you think you and the prince’s heir still have a future?”
Yin Qing responded calmly, “I don’t know if we’ll have a future, but who’d care about a dead woman? If Zhuo Cheran found out how you treated me, he might want to kill you himself.
“You want to know why I’m so confident?” she added. She closed her eyes briefly before pulling the trigger. “Because of what I’m holding in my hand.”
The bullet struck Hongling in the chest. The gun was fitted with a suppressor, and not even the birds in the forest were startled.
“Find a place to bury her,” Yin Qing said. Her voice trembled. Her world was a society ruled by law, and she had been a righteous police officer. But here, she had just shot someone in cold blood.
Still, Yin Qing felt she had no choice. Someone at the manor had reported to her that there were defectors from her armed force. Those men had fled with firearms.
If those defectors ever exposed the existence of her guns, it would be a disaster.
As the saying went, a man’s innocence wouldn’t protect him if he possessed a coveted treasure. The entire Yin family could be doomed.
Weapons like this couldn’t be manufactured in this era, and Yin Qing feared being captured and interrogated. She feared being questioned about where the guns came from and how they were made.
Her jade bracelet was gone, and there would be no more supplies coming. She had to rely on these weapons to survive.
Yin Qing was also terrified that someone might find the guns she had hidden.
To make matters worse, Hongling was constantly by her side, making it impossible for her to slip away.
Her meeting today with Miss Su presented an opportunity. Hongling’s death could be pinned on her and her household.
Yin Qing didn’t want to fall out with Zhuo Cheran just yet. This was the only way to handle things discreetly.
She truly felt that this was fate, and that it was entirely out of her hands.
Up in a tree, Ning Shu crouched between two thick branches, watching everything unfold below.
Yin Qing and her two maids entered the manor, and Ning Shu quietly followed behind.
Her attention stayed fixed on Yin Qing the entire time.
Upon arriving, Yin Qing gathered her troops. They were a mixed group of men and women of various ages.
They were dressed in coarse linen, and it was obvious they had just returned from fieldwork. However, the moment they saw Yin Qing, they all snapped into a military salute.
There were over a hundred of them, standing in perfect formation. The way they stood at attention and at ease clearly showed they had been trained using modern methods.
Yin Qing addressed them with a stern warning. Anyone who harbored disloyalty should leave the manor immediately.
She then pulled out her gun and shot several people dead.
Those individuals had always been sneaky and suspicious.
Among the group were both loyal followers and those with hidden agendas. After the shooting, the bodies were dragged away.
Yin Qing’s ruthless display left many in shock. Their eyes now held a mix of fear and reverence toward her.
Behind her back, Yin Qing’s hands were shaking. This wasn’t a modern society governed by laws.
If anyone discovered these weapons from another era, it would likely mean death. Bloodshed was the only way to keep these people obedient.
