Chapter 3382: Demon Record (5)
The spider silk on her body reeked so badly it was making Ning Shu feel faint.
Ning Shu dashed home with An Yujun slung over her shoulder.
She immediately set up an invisible curtain of water around her house to conceal the demonic energy on An Yujun.
Yuan Liang had previously relied on his own power to mask the powerful energy radiating from An Yujun. However, Ning Shu wasn’t that self-sacrificing. She wasn’t going to waste her energy on something so thankless. If she did, then when the snake king came knocking, she wouldn’t even have the strength to fight back against him.
A water curtain would suffice. Water could conceal all traces of energy.
Ning Shu said to An Yujun, “Go to the bathroom and clean yourself up.”
An Yujun’s face had darkened, and her speech was slurred. “I… I can’t move.”
Her body had gone numb.
The spider silk was toxic, and she had been poisoned.
Ordinary humans would’ve been killed by exposure to that kind of venom, so the only reason An Yujun was still alive was probably because of the babies in her belly.
Ning Shu carried her into the bathroom, put on gloves, and began rinsing her down with the showerhead.
An Yujun shivered violently, biting her lip.
The spider silk was not only poisonous, but incredibly tough. It couldn’t be torn with bare hands, so Ning Shu grabbed a large pair of scissors and hacked away at it until it was severed.
Then, she turned off the water. “You can wash the rest yourself.”
She went to the wardrobe, fetched a T-shirt and a pair of shorts, handed them to An Yujun, and said flatly, “These are my clothes. Make do.”
“Thank you.” An Yujun’s lips were purple as she took the clothes from her.
Ning Shu gave her a quick once-over, then closed the door behind her.
She wasn’t the least bit worried that An Yujun might die, not with two precious babies in that belly of hers.
They would surely have a way to save her. After all, they were the children of a great demon.
They were not even born yet, and their power already surpassed that of many demons.
A talent like that simply couldn’t be compared.
Ning Shu washed the meat she’d bought clean, placed it in the pressure cooker to stew, then turned on her laptop and began to draw her webcomic.
From the bathroom came the sound of running water. An Yujun was taking a bath.
She was probably too filthy, because she bathed for nearly forty minutes before finally coming out.
By then, Ning Shu’s meat was ready.
An Yujun came out drying her damp hair, wearing Ning Shu’s clothes, which made her look rather petite.
Even though she was pregnant, she still looked small and delicate. Only her belly seemed rounded.
Her lips were no longer bluish-purple. The poison had clearly been purged, revealing her soft pink lips and a dainty nose.
An Yujun, truth be told, was a little beauty, the kind of woman who easily stirred one’s protective instinct.
When she saw the man she didn’t know staring at her, she couldn’t help lowering her head and saying softly, “Thank you for saving me.”
Ning Shu gave a short “Mm,” cast a glance at her belly, and said, “You’re carrying two demon babies. Did you copulate with a demon?”
Ning Shu’s words were a little crude. They made An Yujun’s face turn red, then pale again. She didn’t even know how to explain what’d happened to her.
She was, after all, a firm believer in materialism. She had never believed there were ghosts or demons in this world. However, lately, her worldview had been utterly shaken.
She had somehow fallen pregnant after an inexplicable spring dream.
“I’m a demon as well. The children in your belly are quite tempting to me. Their demonic energy is thick. If I eat them, I’ll probably gain tremendous strength,” Ning Shu said as she ladled two bowls of meat out from the pressure cooker.
An Yujun covered her belly and took two steps back, giving a nervous smile. “I don’t think you’ll harm me.”
“Oh? Why’s that? You think I like you too much to hurt you?” Ning Shu said casually. The steam from the bowl misted up her glasses, turning the lenses completely white.
Mm. Ning Shu couldn’t see a thing.
Such was the misery of short-sightedness.
An Yujun watched her wipe her glasses with a tissue and said, “My intuition tells me you won’t hurt me.”
Ning Shu: …
So, sometimes, people really could sense when someone liked them.
Some just pretended not to know and bask in the other’s affection.
But love and faith were the only things that shouldn’t be betrayed.
To be liked by someone was a form of luck, and someone’s affection was not something to be taken advantage of.
There was nothing wrong with being open and honest about it.
“I will hurt you,” Ning Shu said. Her fingers turned into sharp, cold talons as she walked up to An Yujun.
The razor-like claws lightly traced across An Yujun’s belly, making her flinch and draw in her stomach.
“Lowly demon! Don’t you dare hurt my mommy. My brother’s really powerful!” a soft, adorable little girl’s voice suddenly came from inside An Yujun’s belly.
Ning Shu was slightly surprised. “A fraternal pair? One boy and one girl? Both in a single pregnancy, too—how complete.”
Well, of course. She was the female lead, after all.
An Yujun smiled shyly. “Whatever the case, thank you for saving me.”
Ning Shu’s talons changed back into hands. She sat down at the dining table and said coolly, “Let’s eat.”
An Yujun had been starving for a long while. Seeing the bowl of meat, she immediately sat down and began to eat.
“You don’t need to thank me. I didn’t want to save you.” The steam fogged Ning Shu’s glasses again.
Being short-sighted was truly a burden.
It was Yuan Liang who had wanted to save her. No matter what, An Yujun was the woman Yuan Liang liked.
“But you still saved me. You’re a good demon,” An Yujun said. “You’re different from the demons who tried to kill me.”
Ning Shu merely gave a dry chuckle. Eat the fetuses? Eat two snakes? Even she couldn’t stomach that.
Ning Shu asked, “Where’s the great demon you tangled with?”
An Yujun shook her head, her face flushing. “I don’t know.”
Thinking back now, that night had been utterly intoxicating. She’d been completely at his mercy, and was unable to resist him at all.
There had been a faint, musky fragrance on his body, which was enough to make her dizzy; and a tongue that slid across her skin…
Even recalling it now made An Yujun’s body grow faintly hot again, leaving her deeply embarrassed.
Ning Shu said coolly, “Snakes are lustful by nature. Perhaps you were defiled by a lecherous snake.”
“Nonsense! My father isn’t some lecherous snake! My father definitely loves my mummy! Blind Eagle, stop trying to sow discord between my parents!” The daughter in An Yujun’s belly immediately shouted.
“Sorry, my children don’t know any better. Please don’t take offence,” An Yujun said awkwardly, though a shadow crossed her heart.
That night, the man had been far too skilled in such matters. He had been so deft, so practiced. An Yujun’s heart gave a painful twist even when she was just thinking about it.
Could it be that she was heartbroken because she was pregnant with a pair of children, and for a man whose name she didn’t even know?
“Bad man, you’re a bad man!” the little girl shouted. “Brother, you must kill this blind eagle. He’s too bad, far too bad!”
Ning Shu suddenly felt a strange sense of familiarity. This whole situation seemed to follow a very familiar script.
A one-night affair, followed by pregnancy—except this time, it was with two snakes.
Those two children were divine matchmakers indeed.
How exhausting.
Come then, love. There was plenty of time to waste anyway.
But demons lived long, while humans were short-lived. How was that problem to be solved?
