Chapter 3444: Diva, Diva (1)
Ning Shu kept examining the Unsurpassable Martial Arts manual with her spiritual consciousness. She had no idea how large this world would eventually become.
She felt that the road to constructing a world was still incredibly long. She needed seven world origins and a reincarnation world. A reincarnation world? What on earth was that? How was she supposed to create such a thing? The silver-haired man truly was full of traps. Just as she had found a glimmer of hope, she had been hit with another blow. She felt miserable.
Ning Shu placed the manual back on the bookshelf. At least she was wealthy now. Being able to buy world origins with money was a wonderful thing. If she also searched for them during tasks, the process would be faster than before.
Ning Shu felt that gathering the world origins wouldn’t be a problem, but the reincarnation world had her stumped. Did a reincarnation world also require a world carrier? Where was she supposed to find another one of those? She felt a bit at a loss.
A world without living beings was not a true world. Just as the silver-haired man had said, life involved birth and death. Where there was creation, there must be destruction.
Ning Shu sighed and asked 2333 somewhat dejectedly, “Are there many task-takers who construct their own worlds?”
2333 thought for a moment. “Probably not many. A world is not easily built. If it were, you wouldn’t be driving yourself crazy right now.”
Ning Shu: …
Was she driving herself crazy? She didn’t think so.
She just felt frustrated because it was simply too difficult.
“Is it easy to create a world by your own strength alone? Don’t underestimate world construction,” 2333 said flatly. “Out of all these task-takers, those who actually possess their own constructed world make up less than 10%. The other 90% are just mediocre task-takers who can’t even guarantee their own survival. So, stop complaining.”
“Oh,” Ning Shu replied.
2333: …
He had said so much, and she had responded with a single word.
It felt incredibly dismissive.
Ning Shu realized she shouldn’t be greedy. After all, she already had a world carrier and had found four world origins. She was already luckier than most people. If she had become the embodiment of an ordinance sooner and possessed such massive tax revenue, she might have been able to win the world tree at the auction back then. The world tree was a top-tier world carrier, and a single leaf could form a world. Thinking about how many leaves were on a single tree was enough to make anyone excited.
However, it had likely been bought by someone else by now. It seemed it simply wasn’t meant to be. This was a sign that she should focus on properly constructing her Unsurpassable Martial Arts.
Ning Shu let out a long, melodious sigh, pulled a book from the shelf, and flipped through it absentmindedly. She suddenly wondered how Wen Xing was doing and if he had managed to secure that world yet. She also wondered about her artificial intelligence lifeform. It seemed the artificial intelligence lifeform’s consciousness had already awakened, and she didn’t know if Wen Xing could control it. She hoped he hadn’t lost it.
Ning Shu closed her book and opened the chat system, then clicked on Wen Xing’s avatar.
Ning Shu: [Hey there, little darling. Where is your task-taker?]
The little loli system replied, [Dear, who are you?]
Ning Shu: ‘…’
Are you kidding me? ‘Who are you?’
Ning Shu: [Me. The person who lent your task-taker the artificial intelligence lifeform.]
The little loli system: [Oh, it’s you! I knew it was you, I was just joking.]
Ning Shu: [How is your task-taker doing?]
The little loli system: [Not great. The situation with the plane is at a stalemate. He can only control it enough to stop it from getting worse, but anything else is hard to say. He’s currently stuck in limbo.]
Ning Shu: [I see. I was just asking. Wish him luck.]
The little loli system seemed a bit at a loss for words and asked, [Dear, is something the matter? Are you here to ask for the artificial intelligence lifeform back? We might not be able to return it right now. Can we count it as a rental? We can pay you rent, okay?]
The little loli system certainly knew how to handle people. It wasn’t that Ning Shu necessarily needed the rent, but the offer was made very politely.
Ning Shu replied, [No need. Consider it a way of building good karma with Wen Xing. It would be a good thing if he could have his own world.]
The little loli system said, [Thank you, dear. You really are a good person. However, my task-taker isn’t named Wen Xing.]
Ning Shu had simply gotten used to calling him Wen Xing, but that had been the name of his entrustor during the task they’d done together.
Ning Shu: [Then what is his name?]
The little loli system: [He is the support of the house of Zhou, the wing of the kingdom. His name is Zhou Han.]
So his name was Zhou Han. It seemed that owning a world really wasn’t easy. Zhou Han likely understood that the world needed a task-taker to control the situation, or it would collapse. To possess a world, he had no choice but to grind it out like this.
Those who stood at the top of the pyramid were few. It was a test of willpower and luck. If one could not persist, one would never reach the top. Task-takers were like ordinary people in that regard. The strong controlled their own destinies, advancing level by level and growing stronger step by step.
Ning Shu closed the chat system and put the book back on the shelf. She looked at the black hole on the wall and sighed silently. she had no idea what that thing wanted. Seeing the black hole made her feel incredibly melancholy. She had gone from terrified, to surprised, to impatient, and finally to her current state of numbness.
She was completely numb to it. She didn’t know if it was going to ascend to the heavens or what. She couldn’t be bothered with it anymore; if it wanted to fuse into something, let it. It had at least allowed her to meet other task-takers ahead of time. Ning Shu had finally become a Super Task-taker, but she had only met other task-takers a few times before.
Ning Shu casually grabbed an old book and threw it toward the black hole. The black hole swallowed the book, and then… nothing. It really was a black hole—it swallowed everything. Even when she tried to probe it with her spiritual consciousness, it was swallowed up, making it impossible to see what was happening inside.
Ning Shu collapsed onto the sofa, planning to take a nap. Once she woke up, she would go do a task. She felt her soul strength was increasing very slowly, as if she could never truly become powerful. She didn’t know if she was just being impatient or if it was psychological, but she always felt that although she received 60% of the soul power after a task, it didn’t actually feel like that much.
Was it an illusion?
Ning Shu’s eyes darted around as she asked 2333, “I feel like my soul is strengthening very slowly. Why is that?”
2333 simply said, “It’s your imagination. There is only so much soul power. Did you expect to become powerful instantly? It is unrealistic to expect to get fat on a single bite.”
“It’s not about getting fat on one bite, but I always feel so weak,” Ning Shu said while shaking her head. She added casually, “Are you stealing my soul power?”
2333 hissed in annoyance. “You think too highly of me. If I had that kind of ability, that would be great. What’s yours is yours. I only get ten percent of the soul power each time.”
Ning Shu gave a casual ‘oh.’ So it really was an illusion? She took a deep breath, remembering the scent of agarwood she had smelled in the consultation room. She decided to be extravagant for once and buy some.
