Chapter 478: Rael The Platinum Cockroach

Chapter 478: Rael, The Platinum Cockroach

Rael’s vision blurred as he continued flying across the sky, not looking back for even a moment. Islands and continents flashed below him, and it seemed like at his current speed, he was crossing two continents every single second.

It was a little strange, especially because he remembered Caedia’s words, that there were only eleven continents belonging to the Depths.

She was the person he helped take over one of the major cities of the Plague Lands, and while they didn’t know each other that well, he trusted her enough in that regard. Definitely not because he could tell lies apart from the truth. Check latest chapters at novelfire.net

But… Eleven continents? Rael glanced below him as he flew ahead.

That’s way more than eleven. Did she bullshit me? No… She wasn’t lying at the time. So what’s going on here exactly?

A certain degree of caution washed over him, and because of that, Rael decided against going down to any of those continents.

But right as he was about to speed up again, he felt a figure rapidly approaching him from behind. It was none other than Zarkul. It seemed like Rael had only managed to waste 15 seconds, but that was more than enough. He suddenly halted, no longer running away.

Just then, Zarkul finally arrived, his punch heading for Rael. Like before, he couldn’t see four seconds into the future, and with every passing moment, those seconds dwindled further.

Yet Rael chose not to be a pussy this time. He met Zarkul halfway through and decided to try out one of his newer skills.

Mana Reversal (Active): Force all mana within 1,000 meters to flow backward. Instantly destroy active mana shields, barriers, and protection spells.

It was one of the skills he tried to work around inside the Time Stopped area, but it never worked. He figured it was just because Chronos was that strong.

But for Zarkul, who was limiting his strength slightly, Rael decided it was enough.

Taking a deep breath, Rael activated that skill. In the next instant, a shockwave spread out from his body.

It traveled fast, and it reached Zarkul within a second. However, he wasn’t slowed down. If anything, he sped up, and before long, he arrived in front of Rael.

Now, he could only see a single second ahead, but to avoid lethal attacks, it was more than enough.

Because of that, Rael decided to try casting one final skill to see whether or not it would work against Zarkul.

In the very last moment before Zarkul’s punch landed on his chin, Rael evaded with all the speed he could muster. The attack brushed past his cheek, surprisingly dealing damage.

[HP -72%! Vitality: Tier 8 [28% / 100% HP]

It was surprisingly a lot of damage. He wasn’t sure what was really hit since he felt fine. Despite that, Rael didn’t question the system at the moment and pumped his dragon heart, healing back to full HP swiftly.

Then, right as another attack was about to land on his body, this time a kick, Rael focused, and unlike the previous hit, he made sure this attack didn’t land, and he did so by slightly condensing the Time Barrier around himself. In turn, his movement speed was increased slightly more than usual.

Rael was sure Zarkul hadn’t been caught off guard, but even so, that brief window was enough for Rael to completely dodge the kick and, in turn, trigger one of his skills.

<[Phase] has been triggered!>

Teleporting right behind Zarkul, Rael prepared to launch an attack. But just then, Zarkul twisted his head around, meeting Rael’s eyes.

For the first time since the two had seen each other, Zarkul used Fear. As if by instinct, Rael’s demonic horn retracted out of his forehead, causing ice to spread out rapidly around him.

But it had no effect on Zarkul, who seemed completely unaffected by everything that Rael was doing. Whether he threw a skill or used a Domain ability, nothing was working.

And because of that, Zarkul’s attack finally reached Rael, connecting with his cheek.

Or so it looked on the surface, when in reality, one of the crystal shards that had been circling Rael got in the way in the very last moment and thus blocked the majority of the blow.

[HP -95%! Vitality: Tier 8 [5% / 100% HP]

But even so, what got through was enough to blast Rael’s entire face off.

For just a single moment, he couldn’t think of anything and only stare at the endless darkness.

However, almost as if his body already knew what to do, his dragon heart began to pump rapidly, and within an instant, his head regenerated, surprising even Zarkul.

<Ding!>

Fuck… Rael scratched his neck slightly. That was disturbing. Definitely won’t try to cut my head off to get stronger.

“How interesting…” Zarkul mumbled, tilting his head. “But is that it? Is partial immortality and the Law of Time everything you have? If that is the case, I will stop holding back.”

Rael sighed. “Of course you’re holding back. But hey, who’s to say I’m—”

“Don’t waste my time,” Zarkul said with a scoff. “You have three seconds to show me you’re not worth instantly killing. Do so in whatever manner you please.”

Hearing that, Rael couldn’t help but grumble in annoyance. Sure, that wasn’t all he had, there were plenty more abilities, but he wasn’t sure how to even begin dealing with someone like this.

I feel like he’s going to be a sore loser. If I surpass him in strength, he’s just going to power up again, Rael thought, rubbing his temples. But…

There was one thing he wanted to do, and it was something Burger had said he could only try after a week.

But hey, more than a week had gone by. In fact, exactly 74 years had passed, and his body, as well as his dragon heart, had more than enough time to adjust.

So with that in mind, Rael first decided to get a little power-up in the form of his Mind Realm Domain.

<Ding!>

And then, he did the one thing he had been wanting to do since arriving in this world.
