As words began appearing on the surface of the dirty yellow page of the Book of Death, Corey found out that he could understand the words of the book.
He had no idea what language was being used to write the words, but he could instinctively understand what he was seeing, almost like it was a natural language to him.
However, he knew that it was because of the Crown of the Lifeless Sovereign hovering above his head.
Corey's eyes moved as he read the words on the first page of the book, and after a few minutes, he had a slight frown on his face.
'This book... It's terrifying in the wrong hands.'
'No.'
'It's terrifying in any hand. And this is just the first page?'
Written on the first page of the Book was the first ability of the Book of Death. The ability had no name, but what it could do absolutely terrified Corey.
Once a person's full name was written on the first page of the Book of Death, the person whose name was written, would die.
The first page had a long list of instructions on how to use this ability, and the list was like this.
1. The holder of the book must write the person's name while picturing them clearly. Knowing their aura and other personal details helps the book to be more specific.
If you write someone's name while thinking about their face, that person dies. If you don't picture them, the book won't know who you mean.
2. The default death is end of one's soul span. The shorter one's soul span is, the faster they die, and the longer one's soul span is, the longer it takes for them to die.
This can be shortened if the holder of the book chooses to offer their soul span to the book, or if the holder of the book decides to bind their souls to the book and becomes its follower.
3. The holder of the book can specify the cause of death. If the holder adds a cause of death within the first 60 seconds, the book will follow that instead.
4. The holder can specify the details of the death. If the holder describes the exact manner of death, the holder has about 6 minutes and 6 seconds to write the details.
5. It is recommended that the cause of death is realistically possible, because if it's not, the book will take something from the holder to accomplish this, and if the holder is found not able to pay for this, the holder would perish.
For example, the holder is advised not to write something like "he does by being crushed by a black hole." The cost of such is extremely high.
6. The cause of death written down by the holder is advised to be able to fit into natural or logical circumstances. The holder can force people to do actions before they die, but only things they could realistically do.
Forcing a mortal human to fly without wings would cost a lot, and it is advised to not have to pay the book.
7. You need a real name. Nicknames, aliases, or titles won't work. You need their full name, and if spelled wrong, it won't work.
8. If multiple people share the same name, you need to think about the specific one you want. This is why a clear image and if possible, the aura and soul aura of the target.
9. If you don't know the face, no effect would take place. The book prevents random mass killings by requiring you to visualize the person.
10. Anybody can use the book once they hold it. But if one wants to gain more from the book and if one desires to open the forbidden pages of the book, one can bind their souls to the book by willingly placing a drop of their blood on the book and willingly wanting to serve the book.
11. A name can only be written once.
12. Gods and Immortals are not beyond the authority of death.
----
There were eleven instructions on the first page of the Book of Death, and although the eleventh was not really an instruction, it literally stated just how powerful the Book of Death was.
Even Gods and Immortals were not safe from the Book of Death.
Corey's expression was extremely grave when he read every single instruction on the first page.
He had known from the very beginning that the Book of Death was an extremely dangerous book, but it was just now he was starting to realize just how dangerous it was.
In the hands of even a mortal, the Book of Death could even be used to kill to a god.
And worst of all, it could even be used to kill him!
Corey and the others had always been wondering why the Clown wanted the Book of Death so badly, but after looking at just the first page, why wouldn't the Clown want the Book of Death if he already knew about its capabilities?
Why wouldn't anybody want the Book of Death?
With this book, one could kill anybody from anywhere.
It was a tool that one could use to assassinate somebody without even meeting the person.
And the absolute worst?
It could be used to kill him!
A lot of people knew his real name, and even the Clown knew his real name.
If the Clown decided to use the Book of Death the right way, he could choose to kill him by just writing down his full name and he would die without knowing it.
It was an extremely terrifying ability, and Corey had a lot to think about as he went through the instructions one more time.
'Nobody apart from me must ever have this book no matter what. Before, I was rather nonchalant about it and was not really bothered if the Clown had the book since I knew nothing about this, but it's too dangerous.'
'I would not have peace of mind if this book was in another person's hands.'
