A tense silence remained after the death of Rorik and the sealing of the Clown.
Jeremy had a complicated expression as he stared at the spot where Rorik had died. Because of how powerful Divine's flames were, not even his ashes remained.
There was nothing left of him to bury asides from his gauntlet.
Jeremy's lips twitched multiple times and his fingers twitched repeatedly as he clenched them tightly.
He wanted to do something, anything.
Whether it was to scream, rage, cry, or curse at the Clown with everything he had, he just wanted to do something to let go of the anger he had in his heart.
An anger that was directed not only to the Clown but to himself for being weak.
If he was strong enough, he could have protected Rorik.
If he was strong enough, he could have found a way to separate the Clown from Rorik's body.
If he was strong enough, he could have protected Syrelle and Orynthia.
If he was strong enough, he could have protected everybody.
If he was strong enough, he would feel like he deserved the title- Hero of New Earth. He would not feel like it was a waste on him.
'Power. Power. I need power. I need to train more. I need to be stronger than Corey, the Clown, Pamela, and every other person... No rest, just pure training.'
Jeremy's eyes blazed with a burning determination, and Corey and the others could see it.
Divine sighed when he saw it, and he patted Jeremy's shoulder.
"No matter what, don't push yourself too much. If you act reckless, you might end up ruining your future... It's good to want to work hard to the point that the universe would have no choice but to reward you despite your talent, but you should also work smart."
"Work hard and work smart at the same time. Know the best, 'safest' in the sense that it wouldn't ruin your future, and also the quickest path for you to take... When you know it, then work hard to reach the end of the path."
"Don't just take any path of power and believe that you'll reach the top. Some paths don't reach the top, and some are way longer than the others and the difference between that path and the others is not much."
"So... don't just work hard. Work smart."
Jeremy looked at Divine with a slightly surprised expression since he did not expect Divine to speak to him.
He nodded at Divine. "Thanks, I'll take what you said to heart."
"I hope you do, cause I know that expression of yours very well. It's something I used to have in the past. The urge to train as much as possible, take risks I normally wouldn't take, live a life I normally wouldn't live. It doesn't end well."
"I'm not saying you should slack off, but don't be stupid and don't also ignore the things you've achieved with your current strength."
"Ignoring and appreciating the things you've achieved while trying to look for more is quite foolish to be honest... Like I said, work hard and work smart."
Jeremy looked at Divine with a dazed and surprised expression, and he could not help but slowly nod his head.
"You're right. I almost did something I'd possibly regret..."
Jeremy approached Rorik's shattered gauntlets, and then he picked them up with a sad and complicated expression.
"... I was thinking of killing myself."
Divine looked at Jeremy with an extremely strange expression.
"Killing yourself? Why? That's an extremely foolish thing to do."
Jeremy chuckled, and then he shook his head with a wry smile. " I know... But if I die and we all go back in time, Rorik would still be alive."
Divine's expression became even more baffled and strange.
"What?"
Jeremy did not bother explaining, but he kept on talking. "But then I was like the Clown had probably parasitized Rorik long before we knew it and long before the battle in the shell world, so there's no point in killing myself. It'll only make things worse since we'll have to battle the Clown again and he'll be more prepared since he always retains his memories."
"Wait. Wait. Wait. Hold on for a second. What are you saying? What are you even talking about?" Divine waved his hands, telling Jeremy to pause for a moment.
"Whenever he dies, the entire planet goes back in time and nobody knows apart from him, me, Pamela, the Clown, and most likely... one other person. That's why the Clown wanted to kill him and not you why you were recovering and vulnerable."
Divine and Rosa both had wide eyes when they heard this from Corey, and the way they looked at Jeremy changed.
Jeremy's ability was both a blessing and a curse, and the way it could be used was endless.
"That's... I don't even know what to say. You're the restart button of our planet. I can't believe it."
Jeremy wryly smiled. "Well... After being almost killed by the Clown and being killed by Corey..."
Jeremy, Divine, and Rosa looked at Corey with varying expressions, and Corey's lips could not help but twitch.
"My sister was dead because of the Clown, and she's the reason I have my current power. I couldn't lose her."
Corey looked at Jeremy. "Sorry I killed you. J hope you don't see it as me stabbing you in the back."
Jeremy shook his head slightly while looking at Rorik's gauntlets.
"I understand. I just hope you never do it again without informing me since it's definitely not a nice experience dying."
Corey smiled. "Definitely. That's why I made sure you didn't die no matter what."
As Corey said these words, he saw at the corner of his eyes, a red butterfly calmly flapping its wings as it flew toward the edge of the destroyed realm of the world tree.
The only part of the realm that remained barely intact and had a little bit of vegetation left.
'A butterfly?' Corey raised his brows in confusion, and before he could even consciously think about what he saw, Pamela's voice drifted into his ears.
"Guys... I think I'm dying."
