Adventures of the last Wild Dragon

Chapter 137: Fourth Tier Evolution

Violet tried hard to relax as she brought up the system notification, but after struggling to calm down for a moment, gave up and just accepted her excitement as she read over the awaiting messages.

[Evolution Available]

Eagerly selecting it Violet carefully observed as a new screen appeared before her eyes.

[Evolution options available. Please select one of the following options:]

Adult Void Dragon

Arctic Void Dragon

Draconic Void Magus

Bestial Void Dragon

True Wild Dragon

Violet spent some time just reading the name of each option, not wanting to dive too deep into the knowlage that rested just below the surface. Simply taking some time to see how she felt about them all from a surface level. She thought that they all had quite some potential, which she supposed was only to be expected all things considered.

Still she was unable to hold off diving deeper into the options so went straight into the first choice. Adult Void Dragon was the simplest of all the available options, it offered no changes, no twists, just a straight evolution of her already quite good race, at least so far as Violet was concerned.

She would naturally grow in size from choosing this, her connection with void magics would expand, and really just about everything she could currently do would just be improved.

All around a fairly solid straight upgrade. Still, Violet thought that she could do better so eagerly looked at the next option.

Arctic Void Dragon clearly took from her connection to Luna, something which immediately made Violet proud of her companion. It was nice to know that their bond was deep enough to truly impact both of their advancement options.

As for its effects, well it would cause her to become duel aspected. Attuned to both the void and ice, or more specifically its enhanced form being arctic.

Just the fact that this would bring both her and Lina closer together did appeal to Violet, but as nice as that thought was… she did not feel that it would be enough. For whilst she did become duel aspected, it would limit her potential with void magic.

Now that's not to say that Arctic is necessarily worse than void, it is just that Violet truly enjoyed utilising void magic's, it was her most reliable form of attack and defense. All of her skills were centered around it, and she was not eager to limit her potential when utilising it.

So despite it all she was doubtful that she would be picking this option.

The next option was quite something, Draconic Void Magus. It sounded powerful, it clearly worked to massively bolster her magical power, she would still get stronger physically, but her focus would be purely on magic from that point onwards.

But this was not the main feature of this race, and that main feature did concern Violet quite a bit.

For if she chose this option she would no longer be a true dragon, she would become a dragon kin. Yes she would still be able to shapeshift into a draconic form, but she would no longer be a dragon. And that fact greatly worried Violet.

She was proud of being a dragon, and choosing this option felt like admitting that she would be better off not being one anymore, or admitting that dragons were an inferior race. A thought that she truly disliked.

So for that simple reason she firmly rejected that option.

Next was another option that instantly left Violet disliking it. The Bestial Void Dragon race was all about physical might, magic was simply a secondary tool to achieve victory.

Violet felt like once again she would be rejecting a core part of what carried her to her current state, she would be rejecting that magic that allowed her to achieve so much. So with that in mind she firmly rejected this choice too.

She was getting frustrated at these options presented to her at this point, feeling like all of her work was being rejected by the system. As if her current strengths and achievements are meaningless and should be discarded.

With a frustrated growl Violet looked at the final option. True Wild Dragon. And again Violet was frustrated at this option.

Yes it would grant her incredible strength, yes she would be able to command lesser dragons, yes she may be able to aid and restore dragons to their rightful place. But she would loose all acces to her void magic.

That was not an option she would ever want to undertake.

Violet's mood shifted from annoyed to angry, why was the system like this? Why was it trying to turn her against what she fought so hard to achieve? Why must she be forced to only take the most basic of options if she wanted to advance? Why!?

As her mood dropped and her anger grew her aura and presence surged. All of it was focused solely on the system and its stupid restrictions, why was she being chained in to only follow what it wanted her to become? Why was she not allowed to forge her own path forward?

Well if the system didn't want to allow it, then she would just have to force it herself.

As her anger and determination grew the evolution screen before her began to flicker, the characters on the evolution list becoming fuzzy, options disappeared only to reappear, yet with the letters in all the wrong spots.

Her presence grew, and unbeknownst to her a shell of violet light began to slowly form around her. Rhyana and Susan who had been watching the two had been forced to retreat due to the shear pressure being emitted from Violet, and it only seemed to be growing as she Violet shell was forming.

For Violet she was putting her entire fouc and frustrations on the stupid system screen showcasing her evolutions options, the single play one and then the 4 incredibly powerful options that she hated.

Eventually as the Violet shell around her fully formed the system screen shattered. The blue screen was no more. In its place, created from the very void around her a new screen began to take form. A enchanting mix of violet and a dark purple screen slowly materialised before Violet, and on it a singular line on text stood.

[ Evolve into - Primordial Void Dragon?]

As she saw the new option settle into place on the screen before her its details flooded her mind.

This was everything that she could have wanted. It had a strong focus on void magic, it embraced working with others allowing her to grow stronger with companions and friends alike. She would be fully embracing her wild tendencies which would be clearly detectable with her presence, it tapped into her true draconic lineage bringing out the best parts of her race. But most importantly, it was a race that she had creasted, not an option simply given to her by the system.

No this option was created for Violet, by Violet. And as such she did not hesitate to select it as her option.

With her accent the shell of Violet energy surrounding her flashed with a singular pulse of energy. Its presence washing out of the camp and spreading for miles upon miles.

Back in the 3 lakes valley the giant snake sovereign known as Slavina felt the surge of power from Violet's ascension. It was a pure aura, full of defiance and willfull determination, pride and an unwillingness to submit under any circumstance.

She smiled sardonically beneath to waters of her long time home, knowing that such a surge would attract many a being to investigate. Slavina simply hopes that the round dragon will be able to survive the challenges ahead.

After all it had been far too long since Dragons ruled the skies, and in their absence the corruption has only grown.

She glanced back at her lower half, at the cracked scales that steadily leaked a putrid icor. She had been fighting the corruption for longer than she can remember, and she only hoped that she would not be forced to fight it for too much longer still.
