Beast Evolution System: Devourer of Heaven

Chapter 127: Lineage Trials

Months passed, today was Ved's 32nd birthday. The others have settled down a few kilometres away from the mountain.

A village had been born there, with houses of different sizes, vastly different sizes. Most of the houses were created by the rabbits.

Their telekinesis ability made them very good builders, they could carry and place multiple building materials at the same time.

Today, Ved decided to invite them into the tower, unlike the rest of the mountain, there was no pressure on the peak.

During the past month he had thought about it. At first he wanted to just give them the lineages but the tower spirit had a different idea.

It didn't like the idea of giving away something as precious as lineages so it suggested they earn them instead.

To receive one, you would have to take the trial of Dragul and your passing grade would determine the grade of the lineages you can choose from.

Lineage grades were the same as bloodline grades. Ofcourse, the difficulty of the trials had to be lowered or everybody would've definitely failed.

And they also removed the death penalty, so even if somebody fails the trial, they would not die but they would be banned from taking it again for a certain period of time.

Considering how long the lifespan of beasts was, Ved decided a ban of 10 years was reasonable for now, it might change in the future.

Another thing was that, in order to obtain the lineage, one would have to swear to never betray the interest of the king, namely Ved.

" Master, it's time." He nodded then jumped off the mountain. His body fell like a meteor and when he was a few hundred metres away from the ground he unfurled his wings.

However his momentum carried him forward and he crashed on the ground sending a cloud of dust and stone in every direction.

' Ouch, yeah I might need to work on that.' Before he could adjust himself, he saw a fluffy white ball flying towards him like a streak of lightning, actually it was covered in lightning.

Who else could it be but White, the little battle maniac kicked him the moment she saw him. Ved simply created a giant net and caught her then threw her back to the air.

He then called everybody, and told them everything. ,' Mmmmm, so you're saying we have to pass a trial to receive a lineage and our grades determine how strong the lineage we receive is?'

Old man Goldi asked, Ved nodded and White was jumping around him excitedly. There were a few more questions and he answered them patiently.

Then led them to the teleportation array, without his permission this array wouldn't work at all, they teleported to the peak of the mountain.

Then he led them inside, the trial room was at the base of the mountain, Ved left them there and teleported to his private chamber on the top floor.

The tower spirit appeared next to him and she placed a screen infront of him. This screen showed him the trials, only a maximum of 10 can take the trial at the same time.

The first group stepped forward, White, Goldi and Pulse were obviously amongst them. The remaining seven were three rank 2 hippos and four rank 2 rabbits.

Their trials began, while the difficulty of the trials had been lowered they were by no means easy but Ved did change one detail.

While his own trial which was designed for dragons, beings known for their physical strength limited the use of essence, this one didn't.

However the trials still adjusted to one's cultivation rank to make things fair. Ofcourse nothing was ever truly fair, bloodline grades were still a factor, Ved couldn't do anything about that.

However Ved wasn't ignorant anymore, he knew it was possible to break through the limit of one's bloodline grade through training.

He couldn't use himself as an example because he was an anomaly but White was stronger than her bloodline grade suggested.

That's because she trained her body over and over again like she was crazy, as a result her physical strength surpassed what's should've been possible for her race.

And consuming his blood made her even stronger but her training still contributed the most to her current strength.

The trials ended a few days later and the results were out. On the trial of speed, old man Goldi came out on top with a grade of A+.

This was due to his spatial manipulation, allowing him to basically blink through space. White came second with A-, speed was still her forte.

Pulse came third with a grade of C+, that was because she learnt to ride her waves, boosting her speed, otherwise it would've been lower.

The other rabbits weren't far off, only one got a D+, the rest hovered around C and C+. The hippos unfortunately failed, speed was not their thing.

On the trial of strength on the other hand, Pulse took the top spot with a B+ grade, the rest of the hippo's got around C grade, with White also getting C grade.

Old man Goldi actually got D+ and the rest of the rabbits failed. The only reason White passed was because of her extensive training, she learnt how to perfectly merge her telekinesis with her body to enhance her physical attributes.

The trial of endurance (1) the hippos shined here again, their thick hides and dense muscles meant they could really take a hit.

Old man Goldi passed with a C- grade and White almost failed, only getting a D-. If not for the enhancement from his blood, she probably would've failed.

Then came the second trial of endurance and this is where he was surprised the most. White recieved the highest grade of everybody.

She was the reason the trial even lasted a few more days. Her constant training not only gave her the ability to conserve her stamina but essence as well.

She learnt how to effectively use as minimal essence as possible to achieve the most results.

It was only now that he realised how effective her training was and how much of a genius she actually was, her usage of her essence and her entire body in general was nothing short of genius.

After grading their overall performance he realised a few issues, the trials still leaned towards body strength which was unfair. Fortunately this was merely a test run, not a real trial.

He addressed the tower spirit ' Nal, it seems there are still a few things that needs to be changed, don't you think?'
