The two of them swayed, Ved was not surprised by this. He had afterall poisoned them with his dream mist for months, masking it with stealth made in almost impossible for them to notice it during such an intense battle.
But even so, all it could manage to do is disorient them, their mental strength and will were too strong to trap them in a dream or even make them fall asleep.
In their state, it was impossible for them to continue fighting, they barely had control over their essence energy let alone their bodies.
However although Ved would love to use this opportunity to defeat them, he couldn't. He was fully drained as well, he had ran out of all of his tricks.
Be it poison, web, lightning or nuclear energy. All of them were out and would take time to regenerate.
Even his stamina was completely drained, he could barely keep himself floating at this point but he tried his best to hide his weakness and appear strong.
They stood silently, watching each other for a while then the monk broke the silence. " I truly did not expect such a hidden trick from you benefactor, truly admirable."
Ved was surprised, ' Hoh, I would've expected a monk to find using hidden poison as unfair and cowardly.'
The monk laughed, " Why so? what you used was your own power, there's nothing cowardly about effectively using your own power "
This monk kept surprising Ved, he couldn't detect the hypocrisy he had expected from him. He addressed them, ' Do we agree call this one a draw?'
They looked at him for a moment then looked at each other.
" Agreed"
' Agreed'
They agreed at the same time, Ved sighed, he really didn't want to continue this fight.
He turned to address the monk, ' Golden Monk, I Ved the king of beasts swear on my name not to deliberately harm humans for my own benefit.
However should they seek harm upon me or my people then I will retaliate with all the might in my bones and blood, that is my promise to you.'
The monk bowed, " Thank you king of beasts and I swear to spread the word of peace amongst humans so they could learn to coexist with your people"
Ved nodded. " I shall take my leave then, till next time benefactors, may peace be with you." His leaf shined in gold and he flew off.
Unbeknownst to Ved and Orochi, the monk stopped swaying the moment he disappeared from their sights, the dream mist was easily removed from his body.
Back to Ved and Orochi. The two of them could barely remain in the air so they flew to the sea below.
Both of them were in a sense amphibians, so being in the ocean was not an issue for them. They sank to the sea floor and sat facing each other.
' Do you want to talk?' Ved asked. Orochi looked at him contemplatively then asked. ' Why do you desire my allegiance so much?'
Orochi knew himself, he had no ambitions any more other than finding strong opponents he could enjoy battling, after years of loneliness, he lost his desires and dreams.
He was certain if he doesn't find the spark again, he would forever be trapped in this realm and his strength would wane even further.
So he was not averse to the idea of submitting to another as long as they can prove their strength, unfortunately Ved hadn't proven to be stronger in their fight.
However depending on Ved's answer they might come to an agreement, if Ved just wanted power and control then their relationship would end here.
' Because we lack unity, I have roamed the world and seen how our people are treated by humans. We are not weaker, we're not dumber or more cowardly.
No, what we lack is unity, something the humans have in abundance. You've seen it yourself have you not? Their vast cities shielding them from dangers of the wild.
That is what I want for us, I want the young to grow up without the constant worry of death, I want those who are weaker to not live in constant fear.
I do not care about everything else but I just want them to have a chance at happiness and peace. Have you not seen the difference? The children of the humans can laugh and play.
They can be happy because they know if the sky if falling there will be giants to hold it back up, yet the children of our people can only pray to reach adulthood.'
Orochi knew Ved was right, he has seen it himself, even in his own minor world, only a few of the young ever reach adulthood.
He himself had siblings, 5 of them, born as merely lowly snakes. Amongst them only he grew up and evolved to a hydra, some days he does wish they were there by his side.
Orochi sighed, ' I understand, however I will not submit to you as you are yet to prove yourself superior to me but I'm open to an alliance.'
Ved smiled, ' That is enough for me, now let discuss.' they spent some time discussing the details of their alliance.
They settled that Japan and Korea were Orochi's domain, Ved would have no control there beyond what Orochi allowed.
Ved agreed to this, he had the whole world, well not exactly. The rest of Asia besides Korea and Japan were under the control of another.
A dragon, an eastern sea dragon that could control the weather. She was a genuine legendary grade dragon and Ved had a feeling he wouldn't be able defeat her even at his full strength.
However he did have a discussion with her before meeting Orochi and she agreed to his plans, however he wouldn't be sharing his lineages with her or any beast under her.
They would only form a trading alliance that could also send reinforcements and relief in times of need.
Ofcourse this not an issue since she actually had her own inheritance like Ved's, though not as large, according to her, it had fewer techniques and lineages but he wasn't sure if she was lying.
His deal with Orochi was different, he would share some low grade lineages and the transformation, in exchange, Orochi would pay a tribute in the form of demonic beast meat every year.
After their negotiations they went their separate ways. Ved continued roaming the world hunting for evolution points, beast cities sprung up all over the world causing much distress amongst humans.
And just like that, 60 years passed.

To people who hate long time skips, I apologize but I really like them, I think they give more substance to the characters long lifespans and their perception of time.
