Beast Evolution System: Devourer of Heaven

Chapter 155: Barrier

Ved couldn't understand how evolution was still impossible. He had more than enough evolution points, he had constructed an image meaning his will was strong enough.

He had met every condition so he was very confused but sitting around thinking will not help so he went to the library.

The tower spirit Nal and Avery had arranged the books in the library, if he wanted something, asking one of them was the best option, they could find it faster.

He summoned Nal who appeared next to him silently like a shadow. " You called master?"

'Yes Nal, I need your help finding books about ranking up to rank 5, every book you can find, especially ones detailing the necessary conditions.'

She looked confused which was normal, after all what he was asking was not some secret information, in fact she has seen him read about it before.

However Ved wanted more, perhaps there was something he missed. Nal bowed and went to fetch the books.

She came back with a stack of books, Ved flipped through them one by one but they were all saying the same thing.

He was about to quit when a piece of paper fell down from one of the books. The note was written " Diary of the Risen King" The risen king, according to the note was a special being.

He was the first and last being to ever try possession. After his fall, his soul took over the body of a young beast killing the original soul in the process.

The king of beast in his anger deemed that technique evil and banned it. The Risen king was imprisoned for a thousand years but that was not the point.

Near the end of the note, Ved found what he thinks is what he was looking for. The Risen King, a being that once reached the peak of rank 8 couldn't even reach rank 5.

He wrecked his brain trying to figure out the reason. Eventually he had to seek out the three old ones. Ved had no idea who the three old ones were.

But according to the note, the three old ones told the Risen King that his fate was cut, he lacked alignment. Ved read that again thinking maybe he missed something.

He turned the page over and nothing. ' Cut fate, lacks alignment? What in the mystical rubbish does that even mean? This wasn't helpful at all.'

Ved left in anger, not even bothering to pack up the books, Avery or Nal would do it anyways.

He sat at the edge of his mountain contemplating. He had to figure this out or he would forever be stuck as a rank 4 and that was terrifying.

Especially after he had that dream or premonition. After thinking for a while he remembered old man Goldi and Pulse.

The two of them had reached the peak of rank 4 long ago, especially Goldi but they still couldn't see a path to rank 5.

According to them, they couldn't even sense the tribulation which was a sign that somebody had a chance of breaking through.

Ved could already feel it but he too was stuck now for whatever reason. In order to deal with it, they left to temper themselves.

Old man Goldi was a member of the Golden Toad race, they were a race of fortune. He had to make a fortune with his own hands to temper his will.

Pulse got obsessed with music after obtaining her lineage. To the point she refused to change it even after recieving another chance.

She believed music was the medicine of souls, she wanted to use it to guide and heal those whose souls are lost.

Ved had no idea what any of that meant but he supported her. The two of them left the minor world over 20 years ago.

Last he heard, Goldi started a transportation company, with his space element, learning and using teleportation arrays became easier.

Plus he was really fast, he could use his powers to transport those things that couldn't be transported through teleportation arrays.

Pulse on the other hand became a bard, she went around the beasts cities playing music. She had gained a reputation as Angel Voice.

People anticipated her arrival wherever she went. According to rumours, her music really does heal souls, it sooth sorrows and brings back memories.

She was hired a lot by the mourning to help them heal, in fact there were rumours that she was sometimes hired by humans to help them heal as well.

But nobody dared accuse her of colluding with humans. They all knew she was one of kings closest people and no sane beast dared to anger the king.

Most weren't just loyal to him, they worshipped him. After all he was the one who freed them from their fates of living in fear and hunger.

This was especially true for the weaker races, they no longer had to live under the suppression of the strong due the laws Ved set.

Even the relatively strong beasts lived easier lives now. Before, they were most likely to be hunted by humans who feared their power or desired to scavenge their body parts.

Now humans have to think twice before attacking them, not only did humans have fewer top tiers, the beasts cities could receive reinforcement really quickly.

Other than that, Ved also gave them alchemy, crafting and formation art. Now they could also live under the protection of defensive formations like humans do.

They could consume elixirs from now and then to increase their power faster. Plus he treated them fairly which was rare for a beast.

The beast race functioned on the law of the jungle, might makes right but Ved destroyed all of that, though there was still some aspects of it, it wasn't as bad.

So they had no reason to betray him which meant he could do whatever he wants and nobody would complain, they're most likely to support him instead.

He was certain if he told them to wage war on humanity tomorrow they wouldn't hesitate to take arms and march.

Because of that, the rumours didn't effect Pulse at all, another reason was because she was strong.

Once she mastered the sound abilities of her lineage she became a monster. Her frequency control ability matched perfectly with it making her significantly stronger.

To the point, she had become one of the strongest rank 4 beasts on earth, she was probably in the top 10 at this point, mind you there are close to 200 rank 4 spiritual beasts just under Ved alone.

Even more if you count Orochi's subordinates, not to mention Linglong, the sea dragon.

Although her army was smaller than Ved's, she only had about 50 to 60 rank 4 subordinates, her presence meant it wasn't necessary weaker.

As a genuine legendary grade dragon, she was actually stronger than Ved, perhaps he would be her match if he used his ignition with all four hearts at once.

After thinking about all of that he made up his mind, he too would leave to explore the cities under his domain, maybe he'll find his answers there.

' I wonder if I can go in disguise, became a beggar or something, that would be fun.'
