Night on the eve of the date, dark clouds loomed over the land. They blocked the moonlight like an umbrella casting an endless shadow over the Cold Lotus City.
On the city walls, guards, each no weaker than rank 1 patrolled the city walls as tall as mountains, powerful runic tech guns in their hands and vessels on the side.
However none saw a group of black figures circling the city walls below.Their steps were as quick as silent as shadows and quick as the wind.
The figures gathered together. " Is it done?" One of them asked in a whisper. The others nodded. " Let go before one of those monsters discover us."
They all shivered when they thought of the powerful beings guarding this city, especially their leader, even their master was wary of her.
After they left, a certain scent drifted through the air spreading in every direction for thousands of kilometres in mere hours.
None of the humans could smell this scent, none but two, one being Cat because of her abnormally high sense of smell even for a rank 4 human.
The other being Siri because of her connection to beasts. The two of them woke up immediately to warn the others. The sun was already rising on the horizon.
They found Naledi humming a tune in her room. She was busy fitting different clothes to see which looks good on her.
She turned to look at them with confusion, before she could say anything Siri spoke in a quivering voice, not out of fear but rage.
" A tide, a beast tide is coming." Naledi just stared at her, her mind going blank. " What?" She asked in a whisper.
----------------------------------------------------------
Ved flew through the sky, his heart was pounding with excitement. After today, he and Naledi would publicize their relationship.
While he was certain humans would condemn her for it, that couldn't be prevented, he knew the beasts were more likely to accept it.
He doubted they would disagree with anything he did but even if they did. He would try to make them understand and he if he fails then so be it.
But he was going to be with Naledi at the end. However he did feel guilty about only sending an avatar.
At first he wanted to bring his entire body but his instinct screamed at him the moment the main Avatar tried to leave the minor world.
Normally he would've changed his plans and not come at all if he had those instincts on any other day but today. He was too excited so he just shrugged them off. He wouldn't miss this day for anything.
But he did decide to bring one avatar, not because of said instincts or so he tried to convince himself, he told himself, it's because avatars are meant for multitasking.
He was leaving the others behind to continue trying to find a way to break through his bottleneck.
However deep down, something told him something was wrong, very wrong. He flew straight to the river they spoke of.
It was much larger than the first time they came here, back then it was merely a metre or so wide and as deep as his knees, the water was so clear you could clearly see fish swimming below.
But now, it was deep enough to sink an entire bus and as wide as 50 or so metres. Ved floated down towards the grassy field next to the river.
When he reached the 500 metres mark above ground he felt something strange, as if he had just passed through a barrier of sort.
The feeling was faint and brief but combined with the warnings from his instincts, he finally accepted that something was wrong.
He landed cautiously on the ground and looked around vigilantly. He didn't see anybody. The place was quiet, eerily so, there were no sounds, not even from insects.
Then a voice called out behind him, he turned around and saw her, she smiled and waved at him.
----------------------------------------------------------
Naledi stared at the two of them with a blank stare, today was supposed to be a special day for her, why would something like happen?
" Why?how? Why is there a beast tide now?" she asked, her voice dripping with barely contained rage.
" Beast attracting powder. I remember it scent from my inheritance trial.", said Siri. Naledi's face changed, her eyes grew as cold as glaciers.
" So, you're saying somebody did this?", she asked with a voice so cold it could freeze souls. Siri nodded. Cathra and the others arrived a second later.
" If what you saying is true then this is a deliberate plot by someone. However I once read about that powder in my sister's library.
According to it, only spiritual beasts could create it through some means contained in their bloodlines. In the ancient era, they used it to attract beast tides to other races.
Forcing their enemies to expend their strength while they conserve theirs." Said Aira.
" So you're saying a spiritual beast is involved in this?" Naledi asked with a chillingly cold voice.
Aira looked at her, " I don't know but the possibility is high, it is certain that a beast created the powder, though they might not be involved in the plot itself."
Naledi didn't say anything else and started donning her armour. Cat grabbed her arm and smiled.
" Don't worry, we can take care of things here, you go do what you have to do, don't keep your man waiting."
Naledi smiled softly, her anger subsiding a little. " Thank you." The others looked at them strangely.
Siri smiled a knowing smile. They left her in her room, she was reluctant to go but this was important for her.
She had longed for him for so long, now that she has cracked the rank barrier and had nothing else worrying her, she could finally and officially be with him.
The opinions of others be damned, even though he warned her they wouldn't agree she didn't care, if it was anything else, the opinions of her people would matter but not on this.
She was just about to take off her armour when hundreds of powerful roars echoed through the sky
She frowned, " This.. shouldn't be possible." She rushed out and flew to the city wall. The others arrived next to her, their expressions grim.
From the distance they could see an endless wave of demonic beasts. However at the back of the army, they felt hundreds of powerful rank 4 auras.
" This..this isn't possible, this many rank 4 demonic beasts shouldn't exist." Siri whispered in a quivering voice, there was fear hidden in her voice.
Naledi frowned, although the others might still win it wouldn't be easy and they definitely couldn't prevent casualties amongst the soldiers or even damage to the city itself and the people behind it walls.
She definitely couldn't leave now, " I'm sorry Alex, I'll make it up to you." She whispered to the air.
----------------------------------------------------------
Ved stared at Naledi standing Infront of him. She looked gorgeous in a long blue dress, her long blue hair cascading down her back like a waterfall.
However something felt wrong, all of his senses told him this was her, her aura was the same, even her soul signature but something felt wrong.
Beautiful as she was, his heart didn't pound like it was trying to leave his chest when he looked at her. Then he smelled something through the air, he looked at her with a deep sadness.
' Why?'
