Sitting beside the Eight-Winged Dragon's statue, Aegon busied himself in the complex mechanisms of the Rune Formations. It was perhaps the most complex and difficult Rune Formation he had ever made, but the situation demanded it.
The other parts were auxiliary aspects, so he could afford to distract himself for a moment, but this was different. Making the core of a Rune Formation always proved to be difficult.
Especially since this Rune Formation was special and needed more work on the core. The Rune Formation came alive from the moment he carved out the First Rune, which meant the core had to be made while handling the pressure of all those auxiliary runes already at work.
This became the reason he didn't even notice his surroundings or what happened with his team. He trusted them, so he knew they would defend him while he did his work.
As he weaved the last strings of World Essence into the core, Aegon's forehead dripped with sweat, his eyes so focused that they turned red. Veins appeared on his irises, and he didn't dare blink during the final steps.
Just as he completed the Rune Formation, something lit up in his soul and expanded, making him feel liberated. His breath hitched as he let his lungs feel alive once again and smiled.
Giving a side glance, he assessed the team's situation quickly and then said, "Rosa and Xav have done their work, so good job."
[Xavier: Really? Thank God! I died the most in this match.]
[Rosa: Always happy to help you, Future Hubby.]
Aegon then looked at the two women ready for battle and said, "Cali, stop. You have the most important part to do."
"Doesn't that mean El has to defend alone?" Cali asked as she backstepped. "Or are you entering the battlefield yourself?"
"Not quite. El has to deal a lot of damage before dying, then comes the main part," Aegon smiled and said. "We're taking the victory."
Elara gave a side glance at Aegon and nodded calmly. "As you say."
Without a shred of hesitation, she stepped forward and pulled the string of her bow to the extreme. Pausing for a second, she asked, "I just need to do damage?"
"Lots of it! Go berserk!" Aegon said, grinning from ear to ear.
Elara smiled as well, as her eyes pierced through the battlefield and found the Ash Domain's forces marching down the Mid Lane.
All five of them were at their best, as even the Fighter had entered his Berserker Mode, emitting a terrifying aura. His eyes still burned with flames of revenge.
"Your old crush really loves you, Cali!" Aegon said, staring into the distance as well.
"What can I do?" Cali sighed in regret. "He can't even last a few rounds, but always asks for more."
"Perhaps he has different kinks," Aegon laughed and said. "You should be more considerate."
"Sadly for him, I share his kinks," Cali said, leaning against the base's dome calmly. "We can't be together."
Aegon raised an eyebrow in surprise and turned toward Cali, who just shrugged and said, "What? Why are you so surprised?"
"Nothing! I'm just wondering how many nails I'll need to prepare," Aegon said, his voice turning low and dangerous.
"Hey! Don't you dare conspire against my future husband!" Cali warned, but her voice held no threat.
She wasn't even surprised hearing Aegon, as she had expected it. They didn't share any sibling bond or romantic one, but it wasn't any less either.
If someone dared to hurt her, Aegon would bring hell upon them. Even if it was her husband.
It did put a smile on her face though, as this once again reminded her that it was fine to be weird as long as a few people cared for her. Because those few filled the void of everything.
"Since when did the Supremacy Games turn into kinky games?" Elara asked, frowning as she saw Raphael's team dealing with the enhanced minions.
"This reminds me. What happened to you all of a sudden?" Cali asked. "Why are you so… calm?"
"A battle state, perhaps?" Aegon guessed.
[Rosa: No, that's just something she does to concentrate on her battles. The Silent Calm State. Its working is quite cruel though.]
"I have a mouth to explain," Elara said flatly. Still keeping her posture fixated, she added, "As for being cruel, I'm being cruel to myself. Nothing to do with you."
[Rosa: Of course, it's always you. The oh-so-mighty great princess born to shoulder responsibility, burden, suffering, and every fucking thing of random people.]
"SHUT UP!" Elara shouted, her voice echoing everywhere as her fingers trembled on her bow. "Degenerate and selfish people will never understand it."
[Rosa: Neither do I want to. Hell, take it more and suffer more. But remember that the way you choose to escape makes others suffer.]
Elara took a deep breath as her back straightened and her grip on her bow turned steady. Her clear voice rang out, "Then let me show you what my responsibilities gave me. Why they make me superior to a selfish person like you."
Her eyes took on a greenish hue as a gentle mist rose around her and caressed her body. Then she muttered some inaudible words, making a flaming arrow materialize on her bow.
As the arrow's flaming tail danced around, she mumbled yet another word as the winds around her spun faster and faster.
Then her fingers snapped open, releasing the pent-up flaming arrow. Leaving a blazing yellow trail, the arrow shot past everything as the wind itself guided it forward, making its speed even faster.
Before the enemies could even prepare themselves properly, the arrow struck them and exploded into a horrifying explosion that covered the entire middle area of the battlefield.
Aegon watched the mushroom-shaped explosion rise toward the clouds, making them bow before its prowess. The shockwave alone shattered two of the Ash Domain's turrets, and even he felt it deeply.
He turned toward Elara and thought, 'Responsibilities, huh. You're so entangled in them.'
Sighing, he turned back toward the explosion as he waited for the enemy. Somehow, he felt the whole situation deeply. Even if they were playing the Supremacy Games, which decided everyone's future, they could joke around and even have conflicts.
All while playing such important games.
'Having friends is really great.'
