My College Teacher is My Children's Mom

Chapter 138 Restless Fatty

Lin Feng would handle the rest. He was going to make a home for the chickens and ducks.

Zhang Yuxi parked the car and walked straight into the living room. By then, the house was filled with a savory aroma.

Because the chickens were free-range and always running around the mountain, they didn't have much meat on them. But when used to make soup, the taste was simply unparalleled. Lin Feng liked to simmer it slowly on low heat, extracting the flavor bit by bit. The aroma was so enticing it made you hungry right away.

"Honey, I'm back."

"Mm, Liu Bo is in the yard. Go see what he's up to and if he needs any help. Dinner will be ready soon."

"Alright."

After changing into some comfortable clothes, Zhang Yuxi went out to the yard. She was astonished to see Liu Bo building a chicken coop. He had overturned a corner of the lawn and covered it with dry soil he'd gotten from somewhere outside. Then he used six or seven sticks to form a circle and wrapped a net around them, reaching a height of about one and a half meters.

Zhang Yuxi took a closer look at the sticks. Aren't these the sticks from the neighborhood's Spring Festival lanterns?

Liu Bo had been resourceful, scouring the villa community and even rummaging through trash cans. Of course, Lin Feng and Zhang Yuxi knew nothing about this.

"Yuxi, don't come any closer," Liu Bo said. "It smells. You should stay back."

"Okay." Zhang Yuxi stood to the side, watching to see if he needed anything.

Once the coop was finished, Liu Bo tossed the chickens in one by one. There were over twenty in total. Zhang Yuxi understood. No wonder he was building the coop outside. There were also five ducks, each one plump and full of spirit, quacking nonstop. Liu Bo tossed them into the coop as well.

Zhang Yuxi thought for a moment and asked, "Won't they fight?"

Liu Bo hesitated. "Uh... I don't know."

"Well, you know the saying 'chickens talking to ducks.' They probably can't fight if they can't even understand each other, right?" Zhang Yuxi figured that made sense.

Liu Bo went into the kitchen, washed his hands, and while Zhang Yuxi was away, he sneakily told Lin Feng about their conversation.

Lin Feng couldn't help but laugh. "She can be such a goofball sometimes." She seemed so cool and intelligent, but at home, she often did silly things.

Is pregnancy brain real?

"Dinner will be about another half hour. I'm going to wake the babies and feed them their solid food."

"I'll help."

The babies were sleeping soundly. Lin Feng started with Fourth Baby, who loved to sleep in and was the most difficult to wake. Next was First Baby. Second Baby was a little grumpy when he first woke up, but he was easily soothed. As for Third Baby, you could get him fully dressed before he even stirred.

Lin Feng made some thin noodles—the nutritional vegetable kind for babies. They were very soft and easy to cook until mushy. They came in various vegetable flavors, offering plenty of choices. Picky Second Baby liked the slightly sweet and sour tomato flavor. Third Baby ate the carrot flavor most of the time. First Baby and Fourth Baby weren't picky at all and would accept anything, though First Baby had a slight preference for three of the flavors. To encourage the babies to eat more, Lin Feng prepared the noodles according to their individual tastes. Every extra bite they took gave him a profound sense of accomplishment.

[BING!]

[Host has fulfilled his fatherly duties by taking the babies to a crawling competition!]

[Reward: Four bottles of Physical Enhancement Liquid!]

[Physical Enhancement Liquid: Can help brighten the babies' eyes, strengthen their immune systems, and ensure their overall healthy development.]

Lin Feng: "..."

After feeding the babies, Fei Fei followed the aroma into the kitchen, sniffing here and there.

Lin Feng took out his phone and played a video of the babies' crawling competition for Zhang Yuxi.

Zhang Yuxi covered her mouth and gasped. "All the babies in the competition are so adorable!"

After watching the video, Zhang Yuxi was filled with regret for missing the chance to see her babies compete.

"Yuxi, if there's another event like this, you and Bro should come together!"

"Okay!" Even if I have to take time off work, I'll definitely be there.

The chicken soup was ready. When Lin Feng lifted the lid of the clay pot, a rich, mellow aroma billowed out. Liu Bo exclaimed like a child, "Time to eat!"

I'm so lucky I get to freeload meals here.

Sitting down, his mouth watering uncontrollably, Liu Bo declared, "I'm definitely going to find a wife who can cook!"

After serving the rice, Lin Feng shredded some chicken breast and placed it in the cat's bowl. "Fei Fei? Fei Fei?"

The cat usually stays with the babies. Why is he missing now? Having undergone the Purification and Marrow Cleansing, Lin Feng's hearing was far superior to an ordinary person's. He tilted his head, listened, and located the sound.

He opened the kitchen door leading to the small yard. "Fei Fei?"

"Honey, is Fei Fei outside?"

"Yeah. You two go ahead and eat. I'll go check on him."

Closing the door, he followed the sound, already guessing what Fei Fei was up to. Sure enough, Fei Fei was pacing anxiously around the chicken coop, meowing nonstop. The chickens and ducks inside were unfazed, probably aware that the cat couldn't get in. Fei Fei took a few stealthy steps, craned his neck, and prepared to leap into the coop.

But Lin Feng was faster, snatching Fei Fei up in an instant.

Fei Fei turned his head, a dazed look in his eyes.

Lin Feng chuckled. "Time to eat your chicken."

Fei Fei meowed but kept looking back at the chickens and ducks, reluctant to give up. Seeing this, Lin Feng carried him back inside and closed the window securely.

"He wanted to catch a chicken," Lin Feng explained, carrying Fei Fei over to the bowl of chicken breast. Fei Fei meowed once more before lowering his head to eat.

Liu Bo said, "I should probably put a cover on top. I've heard that village chickens are pretty incredible—they can even fly."

Zhang Yuxi looked intrigued. "Fly?"

"Yeah. In the winter, they can even sleep in trees."

Zhang Yuxi grew even more curious. "Really?"

This question was directed at Lin Feng. He believed it was true; Liu Bo had no reason to lie. "It's true," he confirmed.

Zhang Yuxi gasped. "Amazing!"

Her reaction left both Liu Bo and Lin Feng at a loss for whether to laugh or cry.

Liu Bo found a large piece of cardboard, unfolded it, and placed it over the chicken coop. "Bro, Yuxi, I'm heading out."

Lin Feng nodded. "Okay. Drive safe."

As Lin Feng was washing the dishes, he suddenly heard Zhang Yuxi shriek, "Honey, come here! Quick!"

Lin Feng dropped the dish and rushed out of the kitchen, his eyes following her gaze. He saw Fourth Baby holding onto the sofa, shakily standing up on his own. Zhang Yuxi was hovering nervously behind him, her hands out to catch him. Even though the floor was covered with thick, soft mats to prevent any injuries, she couldn't help but worry.

"Honey, our Fourth Baby just stood up all by himself!"

In the eyes of a parent, every milestone in their children's growth is an extraordinary event. Fourth Baby only managed to stand for about five seconds before his bottom plopped softly into Zhang Yuxi's waiting hands.

She hugged him and praised, "You're amazing, sweetie!"

Lin Feng smiled. "Yes, our babies are the best!"

That evening, Lin Feng fed the babies a few sips of chicken soup. He didn't give any to Third Baby, who still wanted to nurse. As for Fourth Baby, he had weaned himself almost without them noticing. He had simply stopped nursing. When they offered, he would just hold it in his mouth without drinking. Just like that, the problem of weaning one baby was solved.

Next up was Third Baby. He was very persistent. If he didn't get to nurse at night, he would get fussy—not by throwing a full-blown tantrum, but by whining and whimpering to show his displeasure.

Zhang Yuxi gently patted Third Baby's back, her heart filled with worry as she watched him nurse with such contentment. "Honey, my milk supply is getting really low. We need to wean him," she said, distressed. "But he's so stubborn. How am I supposed to do it?"

Lin Feng frowned. "If we have to, maybe we just wait until your milk is completely gone?"

Zhang Yuxi's face was clouded with worry. She sighed. "But if he drinks a little every day, there will always be a little milk. He doesn't eat much solid food now because he's always thinking about nursing, but my milk is no longer enough to fill him up."

"Don't rush it," Lin Feng comforted her. "We'll take it slow. Tomorrow night, I'll feed him more solid food. When he cries and fusses, you can't give in or feel bad for him. After a few nights without nursing, he'll stop."

Zhang Yuxi looked up. "Really?"

In truth, he wasn't sure himself, but it was impossible to predict. They had been most worried about weaning Fourth Baby, yet that had happened completely naturally.

Maybe Third Baby... maybe it'll be the same for him.

After nursing, Third Baby fell asleep in Zhang Yuxi's arms, looking utterly satisfied. Lin Feng carefully placed him into his sleeping bag. Fourth Baby was playing happily with a toy.

Huh? Where's Fei Fei?

Lin Feng realized their little guardian was nowhere to be seen. He glanced toward the door; the cat food was untouched, and the litter box was unused. He had a pretty good idea where the cat had gone.

"Honey, you get some sleep. I'll go get Fei Fei. That little rascal probably went after the chickens again."
