My College Teacher is My Children's Mom

Chapter 139 The Fainted Elderly Man

Sure enough, Tuan Tuan was circling the chicken coop relentlessly. The chickens and ducks were huddled together for warmth, and Tuan Tuan kept reaching his little paw in to snatch one, but every attempt ended in vain.

Lin Feng watched from the side for a good while, laughing uncontrollably. "Tuan Tuan, come inside."

Tuan Tuan meowed, refusing.

"Tuan Tuan, come home!"

Hearing Lin Feng's stern tone, Tuan Tuan hesitated before meowing plaintively. Lin Feng had no choice but to pick him up and carry him back inside. "Oh, you…" he sighed, taking out some dried fish from the cupboard to satisfy the cat's craving. "Eat this, and stop trying to catch the chickens."

Tuan Tuan ate the fish while purring nonstop. After checking that the doors and windows were secure, Lin Feng went back to his room to sleep.

The next morning, while making breakfast, he noticed Tuan Tuan wasn't around and decided to check the backyard. That's when he saw a chicken nonchalantly strolling into the house, right under his nose.

Lin Feng immediately had a bad feeling and rushed into the backyard. Inside the coop, he found a disheveled Tuan Tuan, his fur ruffled from being pecked, huddled together with the ducks. As for the chickens… they were all gone!

Tuan Tuan let out a meow and darted into the living room after the chicken. The chicken clucked frantically, flying all over the living room with a furious Tuan Tuan in hot pursuit. Lin Feng pressed his forehead, trying to coax the cat over with a can of food, but Tuan Tuan was reveling in the thrill of the hunt and wasn't tempted. In the end, with a flutter and a flap, both the cat and the chicken burst out of the house.

Lin Feng hurried to close the doors and windows before heading out to catch the chicken and the cat. Ultimately, the cat managed to hook its claws around the chicken's neck, pinning it to the ground and perching on top of it, hissing with its fur bristled. Lin Feng walked over, grabbing the cat by the scruff of its neck and the chicken by its wings. He tossed the chicken back into the coop and locked Tuan Tuan in his "cat villa," then went out to find the rest of the chickens.

He knew he couldn't manage it alone, so he went to ask the property security for help. A guard used his walkie-talkie to radio in, and four men were dispatched for a thorough search.

"Sir, rest assured, we will catch the chickens," one of them promised.

"Okay, thank you for your help," Lin Feng replied.

"You're too polite, sir. It's our job."

They were just about to change shifts, making this their first task of the day. With fourteen chickens still missing, the five security guards fanned out, each equipped with a woven sack and a butterfly net. They clucked like chickens as they went.

"CLUCK, CLUCK, CLUCK…"

Lin Feng, following one of the guards, spotted two chickens under a tree. The two of them approached silently, but these free-range chickens were highly alert. The moment they sensed someone approaching, they flew off with a flutter of wings. Lin Feng had also been given a tool, a sort of catchpole used for dogs and cats. With quick hands and sharp eyes, the two of them caught both chickens in a flash and stuffed them into the woven sack. Good news started coming in over the walkie-talkies as well. One benefit of free-ranging was that the chickens tended to flock together, making it possible to catch several at once.

Finally, only one chicken remained. Lin Feng's team spotted it. Sensing them nearing, the chicken flapped its wings and flew right into a nearby house through an open kitchen window.

"I'll knock on the door," Lin Feng said.

By now it was nearly eight in the morning, and most people were awake.

KNOCK. KNOCK. KNOCK. No one answered.

Peeking through the kitchen window, Lin Feng saw a pair of legs in the living room. They were clad in men's pajama pants; one foot wore a slipper, the other was bare.

Lin Feng's expression changed instantly. "Quick, call for an ambulance! Someone's collapsed on the floor!"

On nice days, Lin Feng would take the babies for a walk around the community. If he remembered correctly, an elderly man and his housekeeper lived in this house. Their daughter had married and moved abroad. The property guards crowded around, saw the scene, and one immediately called for an ambulance.

"Should we go in and look?" a guard asked.

Lin Feng climbed over the kitchen fence. The half-open window was locked from the inside, and the opening wasn't wide enough to squeeze through. They had to break the glass. "It's tempered glass," Lin Feng noted. "It won't break easily without a tool."

"Wait for me," one of the security guards said, then ran off. He returned a moment later with a sharp, hammer-like tool and tossed it to Lin Feng.

Lin Feng caught it and smashed it against the glass several times before it finally shattered. He used his elbow to clear the rest of the pane, unlocked the window, and climbed from the kitchen into the dining room.

Upon entering, he saw it was indeed the elderly resident lying on the floor. Despite all the commotion, there was still no sign of the housekeeper. Lin Feng crouched down to check on the man. His face was bluish and his lips were purple. Listening for a heartbeat, Lin Feng found he was still alive. He called out to the man a few times but got no response, so he immediately activated his Hua Tuo Nine Needles skill.

Five minutes later, Lin Feng opened the front door, chicken in hand. The security guards came in. "How is he?"

"I moved him to the sofa," Lin Feng explained. "He seems stable for now, but we'll see what the hospital says."

The old man was lying on the sofa, covered with a blanket, and was now awake. "Young man, thank you so much!" he said weakly. "You were lucky to find me so early. If I had lain there until evening, I would've been a goner."

Lin Feng smiled. "Perhaps this was fate, sir."

The property manager asked, "I remember you have a housekeeper. Where is she?"

"She went out this morning to handle some personal matters," the old man explained. "She said she'd be back tonight. After I finished breakfast, I was heading back to my room when I slipped, fell, and passed out."

It's over, he had thought the moment he fell. He was nearly seventy; a fall like that, and he figured he wouldn't be getting back up. He never expected such a kind young man to come to his rescue.

The property manager took out his phone. "What's her number?"

Just then, the ambulance drove into the community, its siren audible. A paramedic was on the phone with the manager, asking for directions.

Lin Feng, still holding the chicken, said, "I'll be heading back now."

The old man thanked him profusely. "Thank you, young man, thank you!"

Lin Feng just smiled. "It was nothing, really. No need to thank me."

When Zhang Yuxi woke up, she found Tuan Tuan locked in his cage.

"Honey, why did you lock Tuan Tuan up?"

"He loves catching chickens," Lin Feng said. "I'm going to have someone build a proper coop so he can't get to them. He'll just have to be cooped up for a few days."

Catching all those chickens had been exhausting. As soon as Zhang Yuxi left for the day, Lin Feng called someone to arrange for the chicken coop to be built.

With that arranged, he went upstairs to wake the babies.

"Wow!"

Lin Feng saw his fourth baby standing at the edge of the crib in his sleepwear, grinning at him. While dressing him, Lin Feng praised, "Wow, Fourth Baby can already stand up! That's amazing!"

With his hands braced against the crib railing, the fourth baby stuck his little bottom in the air, slowly pushed himself up, and then stood steadily!

Lin Feng clapped. "So impressive, Fourth Baby!"

The baby flashed a smile at Dada, then plopped back down on his bottom.

Seeing Lin Feng, the second baby hugged him and cooed softly, "Dada…"

Lin Feng tapped her little nose. "Say 'Dada' one more time!"

"Dada!"

"Good girl!"

He turned his head and was surprised to find his second baby rubbing her eyes while standing steadily, holding onto the crib. She was much more stable than her brother. Lin Feng praised his daughter just as enthusiastically.

The third baby was still sound asleep.

The first baby, the sturdiest of the bunch, smiled at Lin Feng as soon as he opened his eyes.

"Good morning, baby!"

That smile was enough to fill anyone with energy. The first baby let out a little wiggle and also called out, "Dada."

Faced with his four well-behaved babies, Lin Feng found himself dressing them with an even gentler touch. "Yes, Dada's right here! Aren't you happy to see Daddy the moment you open your eyes?"

The babies could now roughly read emotions from adults' expressions. Seeing Lin Feng's happy face, they all broke into adorable, silly smiles.
