Farming with Entries: From Lord to Emperor

Chapter 156: A Family of Five (Part 2)

"Hmm, you seem a bit unhappy."

Luo De furrowed his brows, somewhat puzzled.

"What are you dissatisfied with?"

"The enslavement of your bloodline?"

Luo De asked tentatively, then explained, "You've misunderstood, the Wolfhoof Tribe are partners with the wolves, not a master-slave relationship."

"They even eat and sleep together with the wolves, as if treating them as family."

The White Wolf appeared unsatisfied with Luo De's explanation, still baring its teeth.

"Is that your blood?"

Luo De frowned, "Don't worry, the blood I draw will be replenished for you, you can eat the meat as you wish."

The White Wolf still did not sit down.

"Then what are you dissatisfied with? Raising your offspring? Whether you raise them or we do, they are still raised."

Luo De looked at the White Wolf's demeanor, feeling a bit frustrated,

"You're just baring your teeth, I know you're dissatisfied, but why are you unhappy? Can you give me a reason?"

"Forget it, I just want to cooperate with you."

"I think you can understand, so I chose to come out and discuss it with you properly."

"But I'm not giving you a choice."

Luo De's tone suddenly turned cold, his gaze toward the White Wolf became sharp,

"I can offer you a superior and comfortable environment, allowing you to live and build a family."

"You help me form a powerful White Wolf Squad, and we both benefit."

"But if you don't comply, then I can only turn you into nourishment to feed other Desert Wolves, hoping they can evolve into your kind of bloodline."

Luo De stated without reservation.

The valley's atmosphere grew tense again.

The White Wolf stared at Luo De, its ice-blue eyes seemingly in contemplation.

After several seconds of silence, the White Wolf suddenly retracted its fangs.

Then, unexpectedly, it picked up the previously hunted deer and continued dragging it forward, seemingly completely ignoring Luo De's threat.

Luo De was momentarily stunned,

"What does this mean?"

You want it cooked or raw? Your call.

"Saint Master, should we... take action?"

Wolfhoof asked cautiously.

Wolfhoof liked this White Wolf a lot, but ignoring the Saint Master was an offense.

If Luo De ordered its execution, then Wolfhoof would have to obey.

Surprisingly, Luo De shook his head.

"Let's not act just yet."

Luo De watched White Wolf's departing figure.

The White Wolf understood his words but left leisurely without any defense, seemingly not seeking hostility.

"Follow it."

Luo De stepped forward first to follow.

After taking two steps, he suddenly paused, realizing something.

This White Wolf was determined to drag the food back to its den; perhaps that meant there were other wolves there?

Was it going back to discuss with its kind?

It seemed there was more than one White Wolf.

Luo De couldn't help but smile, immediately quickening his steps to follow the White Wolf.

"Hey, are you a male or female wolf?"

Luo De's question received no response from the White Wolf, which continued dragging the prey along.

"You're too slow like this; let my men carry it."

As soon as he finished speaking, the White Wolf paused.

Then, it let go of the prey, nodded its wolf head, and pointed its nose forward.

Luo De understood; this guy meant, alright, let's go forward.

This guy's too smart, isn't it?

Luo De had the feeling that this White Wolf was like a human.

Luo De waved his hand, and the Wolfhoof behind him stepped forward to pick up the fallen deer and carried it on its back.

The White Wolf strolled leisurely in front, proud as if it was a wolf from the north.

And indeed it was.

Luo De quickened his pace to follow the White Wolf.

With the White Wolf leading, they soon saw a dark cave at the end of the valley, standing out starkly against the snowy white.

As they neared the cave, the White Wolf intercepted the Desert Wolves in front of Wolfhoof, shook its head, then looked at Luo De.

"You mean not to let him and his wolves in, right?" Luo De asked.

The White Wolf was willing to lead the way but now blocked Wolfhoof, meaning it only wanted Luo De to enter alone.

The wolf's head nodded up and down, agreeing with Luo De's words.

"Give it to me."

Luo De gestured to Wolfhoof with a wave.

"Saint Master, are you going in there yourself?"

Wolfhoof looked at White Wolf nervously, unable to resist reaching for the axe at his waist.

White Wolf's wolf face remained calm.

"No worries. If it is willing to take us to the cave entrance, it won't foolishly try to harm me, otherwise it and its kin inside the cave wouldn't survive either."

Luo De looked at White Wolf, "Right?"

White Wolf also caught the meaning in Luo De's words and nodded.

Trust is mutual.

Luo De took the wild deer from Wolfhoof,

"Let's go."

White Wolf turned around and continued to walk forward, and Luo De followed behind into the cave.

The cave was spacious and clean, without any feces or urine stains, nothing like a wolf's den.

"Where's your kind?"

Luo De glanced around the cave but saw no sign of other White Wolves.

White Wolf walked to a corner inside the cave, lifted his paw, and pushed aside the stones on top, revealing another cave inside.

Only then did Luo De realize that there was another smaller entrance inside.

In the faint light, Luo De saw a mother wolf quietly lying on a pile of hay, with three fluffy wolf pups cuddling up to her.

A family of five.

However, the mother wolf in front of him wasn't entirely silver-white like the White Wolf.

Her fur had a deep gray base color, looking like a Desert Wolf, yet possessed a size no smaller than the White Wolf.

She seemed to be a mutation of a Desert Wolf.

Upon seeing Luo De's figure at the cave entrance, the mother wolf immediately flashed sharp fangs, issuing a low warning growl from deep within her throat.

She tried hard to get up, struggling for a long time but unable to successfully stand, only managing to half-lie there, breathing heavily and rapidly.

Clearly, she was very weak.

White Wolf lowered his body and squeezed into the cave, lowering his head, gently licking the mother wolf's forehead and neck, the action tender and meticulous.

Luo De could see the concern and affection from those ice-blue eyes.

Under White Wolf's soothing, the mother wolf gradually relaxed, laying back down again.

Luo De looked at the mother wolf and cubs, understanding within.

His guess was indeed correct; there was something tying White Wolf in this cave—it was the cubs.

Since wolves generally breed in late winter to early spring, after more than two months of gestation, they give birth to wolf pups.

When the cubs are born, it's conveniently the season of spring warming up, increasing the survival rate of the pups.

And spring is also the breeding season for other prey, providing the mother wolf with more food while nursing.

But seeing the current situation, it's apparent this wolf couple mated in late autumn, then gave birth around this time.

Nonetheless, it's normal for White Wolf—as a Magical Beast—to differ from other wolves.

After all, White Wolf isn't afraid of the cold, hence the timing of birth doesn't matter.

"But this giant wolf might fear the cold..."

And among these three pups, only one had silver-white fur; the others were gray with traces of silver.

Luo De pondered, suddenly realizing something.

No wonder White Wolf wanted to leave the Icefield Mountain Range.

The Icefield Mountain Range was inherently cold, with winter being an extremely frigid place.

White Wolf could adapt, but this giant wolf likely found it hard to adjust.

And these pups would struggle even more.

"Alright, let your mate eat."

Luo De tossed the wild deer to the entrance.

Not planning to enter further, the mother wolf's brown eyes remained fixed on Luo De, not easing up whatsoever.

Luo De understood, due to her maternal instinct, a post-birth mother wolf holds hostility towards anyone.

Luo De casually found a stone to sit on, waiting for White Wolf to drag the prey into the inner cave, then leisurely spoke,

"Since you took the initiative to bring me here, you're willing to cooperate with me, am I understanding that right?"

White Wolf nodded, then shook his head.

"What do you mean?" Luo De furrowed his brow.

White Wolf stood up, walked to the outside of the cave, and selected a clean, pure white snow patch.

Then, he raised his wolf paw, scratching over it.

Luo De curiously approached, looking at the crooked patterns in the snow, reading aloud unintentionally,

"Cooperation is possible, but I will never be a breeding male wolf."

"I have a family; I deeply love my mate."

"I can give you my blood."

Upon seeing the words in the snow, Luo De couldn't help but laugh,

"You don't have to be so loyal as a wolf."

Just as he finished speaking, Luo De suddenly widened his eyes, staring at White Wolf,

"How do you know the Empire's script?"

White Wolf sighed like a human, shaking the snow off his paw, writing slowly below,

"Curse."
