Chapter 82: False prophecy

"A lots of humans died while we were in the belly of Hlasked." Lucian thought aloud. He had a feeling that the game was coming to an end because so many players had died already, but the one player he wanted to die was still alive.

Lucian was sure that Thorin was still alive; he didn't know how Thorin escaped the chaos beneath Hlasked because there was only one gateway out, and he watched the gateway crumble while the ground shut its mouth after his escape. It left Lucian with two explanations about Thorin's survival. One, the spirit beast lied to him, and there was possibly another way out; maybe it was a safe path. Two, Thorin didn't join the players who were buried under Hlasked, but why?

"Their life isn't your responsibility, captain; there is no need for you to feel sad for them." Marta said.

'I doubt that is what he's feeling.' Luna thought and rolled her eyes beneath her bangs.

Lucian roughly pushed Marta away from his arm when he felt a sharp wince in the air. A cloud-like blade passed between the space where his arm had been with Marta; if he hadn't reacted on time, part of his body would be gone.

The blade of the Ghuoit created a sharp impact on the ground.

"Is that a beast?" Soren asked, getting ready to fight the cloud-like creature, but he didn't understand what the creature was.

"It's neither a beast nor a monster." Lucian jumps to the side to escape the creature's blade. He checked his system, but he couldn't get a reading on the creature's identity.

'junk of a system.' Lucian thought in anger as he evaded the Ghuoit creature's attack; he tried kicking the creature, but his leg was grabbed. 'It's so strong.' Lucian was surprise, because the creature looked as though it was made of air, like a dark stormy cloud.

The Ghuoit raised its blade while holding Lucian's leg in order to stop him from escaping.

Lucian hardened his skin and then increased the muscle mass of his arm; he punched the Ghuoit hard on the face, the impact of his fist twist its neck, and made the creature face turned over to the back.

For a moment the creature's swords remain still in the air, and then quickly it moves again. Lucian twisted his ankle as he barely dodged the blade and freed his leg from the creature's grip. The bone in his arm felt broken by the impact of the blade that couldn't pierce his hardened skin.

Lucian grips his broken arm that falls lazily by his side as he watches the Ghuoit's neck twist back to its original state.

'a celestial being.' Lucian thought, 'If this thing is neither a beast nor a monster, it must be a celestial being.' He glanced up in the sky as he wondered what a being that is meant to be in the heaven realm was doing in Hlasked.

A long white line aggressively rips through the sky, turning the clouds grey as rain begins to fall.

'No, no, no.' Lucian frowned at the sudden drop of heavy rain; a second ago, when he had glanced up, the sky was clear and sunny.

"My body feels heavy." Soren slowed down for a moment; he was about to attack the Ghuoit.

The Ghuoit pays no attention to the others and moves with unrelenting speed to attack Lucian, aiming to use his sword to cut down Lucian's head.

'Move!' Lucian ordered his body that was freezing up because of the rain; he focused his attention on his regenerative ability as he inwardly shouted, 'Move, dammit!' Quickly he bends backward and falls on his back as he regains control over his ability again. The Ghuoit missed.

Lucian was afraid that he won't be able to dodge the next attack on time when the Ghuoit suddenly disappeared, the heavy rain fall through its cloud-like body dismissing its presence.

"Lucian, I think that creature was targeting you." Luna used her healing magic to free herself from her stiff state.

Lucian felt out of heavy breath, "I don't know." A part of him couldn't dismiss how everything seems planned. The celestial creature and the sudden rain that swallowed up the sun, "Let's look for shelter."

Lying about a vision was something Faye had never done before until now. It was the only way to pull Dunstan's attention away from the holographic screen displaying the players. Dunstan had a strong sense of responsibility and couldn't turn away when there was about to be a disaster that would befall the kingdoms under his rule.

In order to make Faye's lie believable and to have enough time to kill Lucian, Storm had sent one of his Ghuoit to wreak havoc; he planned on pinning the destruction on the demon king.

"He's putting on a strong fight." Faye glared at the screen with her blindfold on; Lucian was fighting against Storm Ghuoit.

Storm snickers, "He's struggling." He swayed one finger in the air. "We don't have time to watch him struggle. It's better if he doesn't move and accepts his death."

Storm eyes widen in surprise when he saw that Lucian was able to move. He got rid of his Ghuoit when he felt Dunstan's presence return to the heaven realm.

"Where is Faye?" Dunstan asks in a cold tone, anger mixed with his voice.

Storm shrugged casually as he kept his eyes on the holographic screen floating in the air. "How am I supposed to know?"

Out of fear, Faye ran back to her chamber immediately when she felt Dunstan's presence.

"I was told that she's with you." Dunstan glanced at the screen. "You controlled the weather on Hlasked, why?"

Storm gulps down in fear and pretends as though his action didn't matter. "It was too sunny; I thought a little rain would be fun."

Dunstan's eyes move to the screen again. "A little?"

The heavy rain on the screen contrasted Storm's words.

Storm remained quiet; Dunstan was already in a foul mood, which means he must have figured out Faye gave him a false prophecy.

"Tell Faye to see me now." Dunstan ordered after a long, nerve-wracking silence.

Storm released a breath he didn't know he was holding after Dunstan took his leave.
