Chapter 84: Can you swim?

'Why am I being targeted?' Lucian thought to himself, frowning at the roasted monster meat in his hand.

Reed gently hit Soren's shoulder and gestured to Lucian, who hadn't taken a bite of his meat.

"Captain." Soren said in a cheerful tone, the moon highlighting his carefree smile. "Can I have that?" He jokingly grabbed Lucian's meat, expecting a different reaction, but Lucian let go of it, making the expression on Soren's face fall.

Marta and the rest of the team gave a worried look to Lucian.

"I'm not the only player in this game, so why do those damn gods hate me so much?!" Lucian bursts out in anger. "I didn't ask to be in their world, much less be involved in their stupid game for entertainment."

"Stop thinking about it so much." Luna calmly advised. "Besides, we still don't know if those gods are involved in what happened."

"Luna is right." Marta added, "Don't worry about that ugly cloud creature. Whatever it is, you aren't going to see it again."

Reed nodded. He didn't want to see Storm's Ghuoit again, but before Reed could get himself to believe in Marta's words, the fire that had been set in their midst blazed hotter as the smoke began to gather together and slowly formed the same celestial creature that had attacked Lucian.

Everyone drew out their swords. Marta activated her magic. A loud thunder strike in the sky, and creates dark clouds that hide the moon as small raindrops begin to fall.

'Who is doing this?' Lucian thought. He quickly activated his beast magic and focused more on his regenerative ability.

The rainfall increases and becomes loud with drops of water that slap harshly against the earth.

Marta and Reed did their best to attack the Ghouit with magic, but it didn't take long for their magic attack to become sluggish as their bodies became heavy and froze up.

Soren, Lucian, and Luna team up together to use their blade against the Ghouit, but soon enough, Lucian is the only one left; his regenerative ability could fight against the toxic rain. However, Lucian still felt as though his body was being dragged down by the constant fight with toxicity from the rain; it slowed down his attack against the Ghuoit and made him struggle as he clashed blades with the Ghuoit.

Luna uses her healing magic to heal herself, and then she looks between Marta, Soren, and Reed, wondering who among the three she needs to release and work with. If she freed the three, within no time they would get frozen again, so she needed one person she could constantly heal to help fight against the Ghuoit.

Luna steps in front of Marta and begins to heal her. Marta's combat skills aren't as good as Soren's, but her magic was powerful enough, and Luna felt that the strange cloud creature was a being that needed more than a sword to be defeated. Soren's system ability couldn't work on the creature.

"We will have to keep our hands connected so that the rain won't be able to freeze you up again." Luna said as she locked hands with Marta.

Marta frowned at the feel of Luna's hand, then she pulled Luna and ran towards where Lucian was fighting against the Ghuoit. "Try to keep up." She said in a cold tone and then moved too fast without giving Luna a warning.

Marta placed one hard on the ground and pulled out a huge stone, creating a flat, strong wall, then she alerted Lucian before letting the wall fall down against the Ghuoit, crushing the clouded creature.

"It's dead." Marta said in relief. She climbed over the stony wall. She raised her hand, about to cautiously break it apart with her magic so that she could see her target, but the wall suddenly broke apart.

The Ghoul kicks Luna in the arm, making her fly towards a tree where she hits her head and then falls unconscious. Marta draws out her blade and raises it up against the Ghuoit but before her blade could hit the Ghuoit. The Ghuoit moved faster and pierced her in the gut.

Lucian attacked the Ghuoit with rage. He was angry at himself because his teammates were getting hurt because of him; he was also angry that his body couldn't move fast enough.

The Ghuoit punched Lucian in the chest and then made a move to kick his leg, but Lucian moved. Quickly, the Ghuoit changed attack and kicked Lucian at the side of his ribs, making Lucian moan out in pain.

Marta used her blade to pierce the Ghuoit from behind; the celestial creature creepily turned its head towards her and gave out a loud whistle scream.

Lucian punched the back of the creature's head, making it fall down to the ground.

"You are wounded; I don't want you fighting anymore. This isn't your fight!" Lucian yelled.

Marta could feel her body freezing up; she didn't have much time, and the Ghuoit was too strong. She pushed Lucian and forced him to run along with her. She bit her lip as she forced her heavy legs to move, using the overgrown trees around her to take partial shade from the rain while running. From afar, Marta spotted a waterfall. The Ghuoit was behind her, and Lucian and her couldn't run anymore.

"Can you swim?" Marta asked after getting to the waterfall.

"Yes. But you…" Before Lucian could point out that Marta couldn't swim with her current state, she pushed him into the water.

Marta let herself fall freely along with Lucian, swallowing her fear because she didn't know how to swim. She tried to smile, but her face that was freezing up gave out a weird expression. Marta begins to sink as her body approaches the waterfall.

Lucian panicked and took in a deep breath as he let himself follow after Marta.

The Ghuoit moves over the waterfall and checks down the streams in search of Lucian. Assuming that Lucian had drowned to death, it disappeared and returned back to Storm.

Lucian took in a deep breath as his head popped out of the water. The rain has stopped, but the night is still cold. He dragged Marta's body out of the lake and onto the land.

Marta wasn't breathing normally; Lucian did CPR, which made Marta cough out water from her mouth. And took in a painful breath. She was still wounded and was bleeding.

"I'm glad that you are still alive." She said weakly and then fainted.
