Darien had decided to not to melt the gate. But told Talia to make a rock formation around it. And apparently set more traps himself. Saying he would have to figure out what to do next.
The fae left at Bright Flame had taken the essence of Layla's wells into her as well. Kurt found this out by being able to move to the well himself, like all the rest of them. She hadn't just left him there.
Kurt had thought Sara and Betsy were going to be on his side about not letting Layla put another fae on Earth. He was very wrong. Everyone seemed to think it would be good to have the access. And since there was one, what was the difference?
Kurt was out voted and they were able to make a quick trip to the other continent. And found a suitable place that was off the paths and hard to get to exactly. Kurt didn't know the continent well. So he couldn't tell exactly where it was.
Betsy didn't want to be guardian, saying she wasn't the fighting type. But Alexander the fae staying on Terra convinced her because his ability wasn't direct combat. She would be able to summon fire golems to fight for her. She thought that would be nice having something to intimidate at least.
Unfortunately the only one that had flames that could detect the shadows was Jessica. Who was still healing. The rest were a bit better. But all seemed to have had a sense of relief once they got settled.
There were now two things to plan.
"My coronation," said Layla, "will happen soon with all the fae we have contact with."
"All?"
"Their guardians are all welcome."
"Okay."
Mary was floating above her head smiling. She had been the first fae to call her Queen.
"I'm not exactly sure how to do it," said Layla, "we've never had a Queen so I'm not sure how it works. I know it should be an event."
"Normally it's like a priest or something," said Kurt.
"What do you mean?"
"Like crowned in the name of god."
"I don't think that will work for us."
"Why not?"
"Which god would claim us?"
"You also have to make a crown."
"I've asked the elves to make one, it should be quite powerful."
Not exactly what Kurt meant. But why wouldn't she make one with power really.
"Should I just crown myself?" said Layla.
They discussed where to have the event and when exactly they would have everything together. The actual ceremony was a little rough still. Kurt suggested bringing in Talia; she knew a lot more about that kind of stuff.
And the problem with that was the other thing to plan.
"So about our wedding," said Talia.
That was a line she started to say a lot more often.
"It's going to be a multiple continent affair. And another thing, I seem to still be missing a ring."
"Really?"
"You have the money, we all know it. Just ask Betsy to buy one."
"Not very romantic."
"I don't trust your sense of style, and what you can actually afford."
"Are you into me for my money?"
"It's definitely a plus."
"Really?"
"I'll ask Betsy."
"She already knows my ring size."
"Of course she does. When did you become friends?"
"When she did all the paperwork right. She's a good egg."
"You mean she showed you her fire golems."
"She may have done that too."
They continued to discuss the plans for the wedding, who to invite, who not to.
"So why can't you make a date?"
"Really this again?"
"Yes," said Talia, "you said you had to do something what is it?"
"I have to…"said Kurt Talia actually shut her mouth for a second and waited for an answer. "..:invite my mom."
Talia laughed, "of course you will. She's obviously welcome. Send a letter."
"I have to tell her about you know…everything."
"Ohh."
"It sort of feels like one of those in person conversations. We would have been close by now if we didn't have to stop for…Bright Flame…"
"Why doesn't she know?"
"Because… I don't know… everything was fast. And some of me thought at times it would be safer to avoid contact."
"You don't think they will believe you?"
"Not for a second."
"But you should help Layla plan her coronation, you don't want our wedding competing with that." Kurt knew enough about women and this stuff to know that would be a problem for Talia, she had to be the star.
Talia sat down and crossed her arms, "fine I guess, but no more detours."
They had started to get everything together. Trade was starting to work out. The plans for rail lines were becoming more clear for their future. The glass blowers and goblins had been able to vastly improve production of the healing paste.
They had made it to their next destination in Midas without much trouble as well. They had all the right seals and escorts that made the trip visible and more official.
They were starting to find some workers and families to join them. Jacob had started making some seriously good products. His tattoo grows more rings on his ladder.
The elven village was as polite as always. Carla had told the goblins the need mother would be coming back to the Pillar and river.
Kitsune was happy as far as Kurt could tell.
Kurt walked out of his house with Talia. They wanted some fresh air. It was a nice day.
The clouds were above them giving a slight shade to their environment on the top of the Pillar. They were about to walk to the stairs.
A dark cloud above them broke through with an unusual light, it was not going the right direction from the sun's orientation. It was actually shining directly in front of Kurt and Talia.
They looked up and a woman with white wings came down from the clouds and a glowing ray. There wasn't another way to describe her, an angel.
"No way," said Kurt.
The angel came down in front of them. She wore plain but fitting armor above her white dress. The blond hair blew in the wind. With bit of a look with his mana he could see it was certainly not plain in its power.
"So you're the one," the Angel spoke.
"Me?" said Kurt.
"Yes you," looking at Talia, "why would I come for Darien's pup."
"Pup?" said Talia. The angel looked at Talia, turned her and it looked like pressure was being placed on Talia.
"Stop that," said Kurt. "Who are you?"
