Chapter 171: Audience with an Angel

Kurt sent someone to get Maliki and went to find Layla in the pillar.

"Someone wants to explain to me what that was?" said Layla.

"She said she's an Angel."

Layla dropped her head into her hand. "Of course. You didn't try to fight her did you? Of course not the pillar or something would have been destroyed."

"No," said Kurt. "Why does everyone think I'm going to fight everything I see?"

Malliki made his way into the room. "Is there some trouble?"

After another short explanation of their guest's presence. Maliki was a bit surprised.

"Quite an honor I say."

"An honor," said Kurt.

"For the angel to come down herself, I presume this was Ishtar," said Maliki.

"Yes."

"Good."

"What does she want?" said Layla.

"How should I know?" said Maliki.

"Well, what did you do?" said Kurt.

"Well, Jessica was hurt and the proper rituals were made. Ishtar is a goddess of healing and has no qualms with the fae. Jessica had even once before..."

"So you brought her here?" said Layla.

"I mean, a visit from an angel is never something one expects. I wouldn't see what the issue would be with her. If anyone had made a mistake it would have been me. As long as that's all she's here for. Perhaps it was just curiosity," said Maliki.

"I don't think so. She specifically mentioned being in the pantheon of Horus," said Layla.

"If she is here from Horus. I would have no idea why. But seeing as she went to Jessica's well. I would feel it would be a revelation, or a full heal."

"A revelation?" said Kurt.

"Knowledge from the gods can be powerful. And being anointed has caused an angel to appear before," said Maliki.

"Thats just what we don't need," said Layla.

"I'm confused, did you think your actions would go unnoticed?"

"No that would have been impossible," said Layla, "really I'm more surprised about how much has grown and how large the river has gotten in such a short time. I thought we had more time before they even cared."

There was really nothing they could do. They didn't even know why she was there really. A little bit later a goblin came in saying she was spotting on her way back.

Kurt met with Rosie and led her into the throne room, where Layla was on her side couch, which she used as a throne. Lying down. Trying not to be completely terrified of the being before her.

Rosie looked down at Kurt like she was waiting for…an introduction. "May I present Rosie, Angel…"

"Archangel."

"…Archangel of Ishtar, of the pantheon of Horus. This is Princess Layla of the Fae."

"It is an honor to host such a glorious guest," said Layla.

"The pleasure is mine."

"Is there a reason for your visit?"

"His majesty Horus has taken an interest in you. These gates, and of course his enemy."

"The sourcerers."

"Yes." said Rosie, "There is another thing. What do you plan on doing?"

"Doing?"

"You are aware there was a war, and my lord won it. And Neptune, well…he's dead. As his children."

"His children? I'm a fae, you know I have no parents."

"But it's clear. How else?" Giving a cheery smile to Layla, like she was waiting for an actual explanation, lording over her.

Layla gave a low growl like she didn't want to share, and materialized a cup. A cup Kurt recognized he found it right here in the pillar.

"Where did you get that?" The angel's face soured at the sight of it.

"As children of Neptune, this would be our right would it not?"

Rosie growled, speaking through her teeth, "I suppose that would be true."

"This is how, are you satisfied?"

"Then you have no intention of waging Neptune's war."

"None, whatsoever. Neither of us was even alive for it."

"Well good," said Rosie as her demeanor changed, as if she had figured out her next plan.

"In fact, Horus is prepared to give you a reward for helping Darien, he tells us he would have died without you."

"A reward?"

"Yes, we weren't sure what to give exactly. It is a part of my visit to see."

"I have just the gift in mind actually."

"Ohh, and what would that be?"

"Nothing huge, the thing is I will be holding a ceremony soon, a coronation to become Queen of the Fae. And if Horus, or even yourself would be available for the ceremony."

"You would wish us to crown you with this title."

"Precisely."

"I will speak to him."

"You saw another of my people today. May I ask what for?"

"She had recently prayed to my lady, but she found the location a bit odd. And when Horus was in discussion. Well, I was volunteered to do both."

"And has Jessica been seen as worthy of Ishtar's healing?"

"Yes."

"That's good to hear."

"So is there anything else I can do for you?"

"I wish to see the gate. I'm afraid I must insist."

Kurt and Layla looked at each other.

"Is there a problem?"

"What do you intend to do with the gate?" said Kurt.

"One walks through them, correct?" said Rosie.

"It just an an…archangel in my world…"

"Your world," said Rosie.

"Yes, it's where I'm from."

"Do you rule this world?"

"No," Kurt said elongated. "It's just that your presence is hard to ignore."

"So is the sorcerer's"

"I don't actually think he's from there," said Layla.

"What?"

"It's just the gate he escaped through, if it were Kurt's world we would have been able to follow him."

"It's sounding like you think I was making a request," said Rosie. "And not a demand. You will open this gate, or I will make you." Rosie gave a smile.

"We don't have to go that far," said Layla. "We just were hoping for a little…descrestion. And hope you wouldn't just fly off."

"The only thing that is important is that an Angel can walk through, I do not need to explore wherever the other side is."

"Until Horus tells you otherwise."

"I do not speculate on Horus's plans."

Defeated, Layla got up from her couch. "Then I guess we have to."

Rosie perked up with a smile like a little brat who always got her way. At least that's how Kurt saw it. He couldn't deny it. She was on a whole other level. Even her threats came out as pleasantries. He felt something was just off about her. The absent-minded personality. It made Kurt shudder to think what kind of thing something like her serves.
