As they were walking out of the throne room Talia had told Kurt she was going to go back home. And as she attempted to slip back to Justin well. Rosie had grabbed her and pulled her back out. Kurt didn't think that was possible. Grabbing someone slipping into their own well?
"Ohh no, don't go anywhere. I might have a message for Darien, little pup."
They made their way down to the gate. Still invisible to Rosie. After a few minutes of manipulation. And some talking to the Midas men. And sharp looks from Rosie.
"So it is here," said Rosie.
The gate was simply in another warehouse. Moving goods was easy inside. Rosie walked through.
"It's really like nothing happened, yet," said Rosie. "This is a strange land."
She walked back through after a few moments.
"Very strange," said Rosie. "And you can move it on both sides."
"Yes," said Layla.
"You Apostle," said Rosie. Maliki had been silent for her entire trip actually
"Yes, my lady," said Maliki.
"The goddess Ishtar would like a proper temple. As there are no others this duty would fall to you."
"You can't just erect a temple in the middle…" said Layla.
"I believe she is asking this of Jessica, she has become quite devout."
Layla grumbled folding her arms but approvingly.
"Yes, and you will anoint the grounds in her name and she shall bless them."
"Yes, my lady."
"And another thing."
"Yes."
"Why have you not done this for Neptune's children? As an apostle..."
"They have not announced, before me," said Maliki. "Also I'm afraid Neptune's rituals were not taught to me."
"Yes that makes sense, he would have been dead by your birth. Why teach them?" Rosie put her hand to her chin trying to think. She turned to Layla, "He will use the grail. Hopefully, that will be enough. I will return in two days, to ensure this gate is somewhere more private."
"Is that all?"
"No," said Rosie. "You moved the fae, this was thought to be impossible. Was it through these gates?"
"No," said Layla, "well, sort of. It's hard to explain. It's like a half gate but to our plane. I don't think anyone else can do it, because I have the fae spatial power, and the gate is like a combination of them."
"I see," said Rosie. "And the gate powers."
"Birth, I was in the presence of a gate at my manifestation," said Layla.
"Hmm…," said Rosie. "I will return in two days, and ensure this gate is somewhere more private."
Rosie departed in the air then a ray of light came from a cloud and she was gone somehow.
"The fucking nerve of that bitch," said Layla, "coming to my kingdom and giving me orders." Layla squeezed a fist shaking in her hand.
"Calm down," said Kurt.
"No. This is a big fucking problem."
"What do you mean? She seemed weird but alright."
"We are not actually children of Neptune, that assumption gave us some leeway. She wouldn't be able to act against us without approval. She's probably going right back to ask about it."
"Huh."
"Maliki," said Layla.
"Yes," he responded.
"Go do whatever it is she told you to do and hurry up. If you need anything just say it under my orders. Get it done. She might bring back Ishtar, if there isn't a temple there…fuck!!!!" she yelled in frustration.
"Yes, your majesty."
"So why didn't we…" said Kurt.
"Lie to her?"
"Kurt shrugged his shoulders in an 'I don't know.'
"Because she'd find out."
"I mean you asked her to have a god crown you."
"Because I thought that wouldn't actually cost them anything. Put a pretty hat on me. Get some glory, the angel…"
"Archangel. She seemed to think that was important."
"Archangel would be enough."
"She seemed a little out of the loop."
"They might not be, she might have been testing us."
"So what now?"
"We go see Betsy and find a place she is going to want to see."
"Why are you so?"
"Because if Horus comes down here and doesn't like what he sees, we are all dead. And there is nothing anyone can do to stop him. That wasn't even his angel or archangel whatever." Shaking her fists.
"Then why be so open? The river?"
Layla stopped talking and looked at Kurt. With those eyes that said, do you really want the answer to that? Kurt put it together.
"She called us children because we can grow. That's why. And you thought…"
"Yes, Kurt."
"Still, after everything. Scheming."
"This is not the time, we are in danger here. Everyone here is in danger."
"No it is the time," said Kurt. "Because in my world angels don't actually come down from the heavens."
"She didn't go to heaven, if it exists."
"They don't come down from anywhere. Gods in my world, shit people don't even believe gods exist."
"They do, here."
"Well, I noticed something."
"And what was that?"
"She started sweating on the other side, never on this side. I didn't catch it at first thinking it was just heat but when she came back."
Layla looked up at Kurt, "wait what?"
"She never sweated before, but once she got there, I saw her brow."
"That's interesting," said Layla, "you're saying she might not be a full power on the other side. That may just be the separation from Ishtar…but…maybe not."
"Separation from Ishtar?"
"It thought the angel's power was direct from the gods, if that's true. But it might not be. Honestly, we don't know. And it's not like they give lessons. And it could be different for each one of them really."
"That's all we really got here."
"That's true."
"Except for that cup, don't think I recognized it, either."
Layla rolled her eyes, "I told you that, the relic kept Neptune's blood pure."
"Is that all?"
"Its exact powers are…they don't give you instructions for these things. I wasn't exactly expecting it. The gods don't tell us about their powers."
Betsy had come up. And they both stopped arguing in front of her. Kurt wanted an explanation but it wasn't proper for people to see them arguing like this.
"I assume this is about our guest," said Betsy.
Layla and Kurt explained the problem. They couldn't just have Rosie or a god pop out in the middle of a city. So they needed to find a location away…again.
