"They are?" Enzo raised his eyebrow, confused.
All the strange people he had been seeing were all alumni of the institute after graduation? What kind of event could draw all of them back to this place?
"Yes, look over there…" Titus nodded subtly, pointing to a group passing through the streets on hover bikes heading south.
"Those are the Creeping Hallow Mountaineers. They are a group that works out of the Hallowed Mountains around the Super Sun World's Thornus planet. One of their many notable missions includes escorting the Wayborne train that was hit by corruption 5 years ago," Titus explained.
Corruption didn't just affect creatures; it slowly crept into the bones of humans too, spreading like wildfire, especially amongst non-weavers. On one such occasion, during the transport and protection of a bunch of Astrocrats heading to the Super Sun World Rai, a particular Astrocrat had been affected and spread the seed across the entire train.
Faced with a harrowing decision and for the safety of the Super Sun World, the Creeping Hallow Mountaineers had pulled all their abilities together to fight against not just the corrupted, but also the other groups tasked to protect them.
At the end, they succeeded and saved the denizens of Super World Rai from disaster.
"That's them…" Enzo was stunned. He had made it a thing of importance to know about the Dual Moon Institute's powerful alumni and subsidiaries.
The Creeping Hallowed Mountaineers had someone in particular with shadow abilities like Enzo, bringing much interest for him in particular.
"Yes, don't be in a hurry though. You're still in your first year. You don't want to seem pushy." Titus finished the meal in front of him and sat straight.
"However, I would recommend that you apply to participate in the event happening. The experience and reputation from it will cement your future as a weaver, not to talk about the monetary rewards," Titus added with a smile, then stood up.
"Wait, what exactly is the mission?" Noticing his attempt to leave, Enzo quickly questioned.
"It's classified until you apply and pass the clearance," Titus added, then walked away in tempered strides.
This was no different from a seductress dangling a grapefruit before her victim before leaving without giving them a taste.
"Sigh, I'll just ask Master White." Enzo made up his mind. These people clearly weren't going anywhere anytime soon; he still had enough time to gather information before applying for something potentially dangerous.
Without second thoughts, Enzo made his way back to the institute and weaved back to planet Defi.
"That's all for today."
When he entered the base, he was met with Master Seth briefing the three squads with new intel, information, and procedures.
"Malvaran, where have you been?" Master Seth called out to an empty corner where no one seemed to be.
"I… went to the institute." Smiling bitterly, Enzo suddenly rose from the shadows, scratching his head as he looked at the old man.
"Ohh, come with me then." Hearing that, Master Seth beckoned Enzo toward him while he walked straight into the base and toward the control room.
"Have a seat," Master Seth said as he took his at the second table opposite the head.
This arrangement confused Enzo for a second before several holograms suddenly lightened the room, revealing from them two faces he knew.
"Master White, Grand Regent!!" Instinctually, Enzo stood up and bowed at the two. Everyone here was an extremely high-ranking individual in the institute; seeing them here at once was strange.
"Haha, how are you doing over there, kid? Hope Seth is taking good care of you?" The Grand Regent was the first person to speak, a bright smile on his face.
Such a gathering was indeed rare; Enzo being part of it was much rarer. But they couldn't let the kid feel out of place.
"Yes, Grand Regent, he treats us very well," Enzo nodded, still a bit confused about the whole thing.
"That's not what I heard. I heard he had you and your friends hunting down a Deamon-class Great Terror. That's reckless endangerment. I'm of the opinion that he be thrown into a dungeon!" The Grand Regent spoke in a mixture of tones—pride, anger, and, to an extent, excitement.
Enzo tracking down Mother Venom Milk was a reckless test from Seth, one that Inkous did not sign off on. In as much as it was a tradition for him, endangering a Great Star like that was a waste of assets.
"Ahh…? No…" Enzo was a bit taken aback by the way the Grand Regent spoke about Master Seth.
This was a weaver equal to a Tyrant he was talking about; could he even throw him into a dungeon so easily?
Of course, Enzo had no idea that Master Inkous was much stronger than a mere Holy Weaver.
"Heheh, that's fine. But if he ever bullies you, let me know. I'll knock some sense into him." Inkous smiled and nodded, while Master Seth could only smile bitterly.
This fucker was too loud.
"Anyway, a little birdie saw you in the institute earlier today… I assume you've noticed the changes?" Inkous finally got back to business.
The happenings in the institute were naturally not known to those on Defi; they were a bunch of savages in woods, after all.
But on a serious note, those changes were substantial and would shock anyone.
"Seth has given everyone the rundown about 30 minutes ago. Unfortunately, you weren't there, so we had to call you in here specially to let you understand," Inkous explained. Then suddenly, a holographic contract appeared before Enzo.
"A non-disclosure agreement?" Enzo first frowned as he scanned the room. Then his gaze fell back to the agreement, reading it line by line.
"That's fair." Enzo nodded. The agreement didn't stop him from forfeiting the mission if he wanted to; it just stopped him from spreading its information.
However, as Enzo signed the agreement, a notification was sent by the Void Coffin into his head.
[Influence of a demi-god aspect detected - concept of words influencing speech. Does host wish to allow this concept to take effect?]
The contract had immediately influenced him with a divine concept. But since it wasn't an attacking force, the coffin was able to stop it from taking effect immediately.
[Yes]
Enzo nodded as he got himself back, looking directly at the Grand Regent.
It was confirmed: that old man was a demi-god.
'How is humanity so strong?' Enzo couldn't help but think in his mind.
