Lord Of Puppets

Chapter 105 – Adventurers join the fun – Part 2.

"Okay…. Hit me honestly." – said the general as he went back to his camp after giving the speech to the adventurers.

"How many people had gathered."

"Well…. We checked them and a lot of them are D ranks, but there is also good amount of C ranks."

"And as the time would go by, more adventurers would definitely show up."

"If we are lucky enough, B rank adventurers may show up…. Or for the best, even A ranks."

"Nah. A ranks won't show up." – replied the general instantly.

"High ranking adventurers maybe rare, but they are extremely valuable."

"They are 'MONSTERS'."

"Some of those monsters work just for money or fame…. But some are working for their nation."

"Would some kingdom allow their 'WEAPONS' to just switch sides…."

"Not only that, but high-ranking adventurers earns a fortune, even more than nobles in many cases."

"Becoming a noble for them would be…. Like a chain really."

"OHHHH! How good they have to be noble! Oh, I wish I was noble myself!" – said the beastman with a mocking tone.

"Fuck off."

"Being nobleman isn't just about luxurious life, but also about problems."

"Pretty much, you have some chains and obligation you have to do…. And something like that for A rank adventurer may be just straight up just an annoyance."

"If a kingdom were to obtain a OFFICIALY a powerful pawn that is loyal to them, then it is to be expect that there will be some abuse, like 'do this' or 'do that'."

"The only reason why would some A ranks just come here would be either to get some quick cash or settle down from adventurer life… Some of the noble families originated like this for example."

"A commoner becoming a high-ranking adventurer, ranking up achievement and contribution in order to obtain a nobility and then just enjoy some easy life with his family."

"In short, don't expect any high-ranking adventurers to show up and instead focus on the people we have here."

"These bastards are here for money…. And who is to say that they are really working for us?"

"Or what if they just some scums? It isn't first time I've dealt with criminals that were working as adventurers."

"Not only that, watch out for the C rank adventurers."

"One thing if we have problem with D ranks…. But C ranks are far more deadly than bunch of D ranks combined."

"We will need to make sure that none of them pull something while they are working with us."

[Meanwhile: Dungeon]

(Hm…. If…. No…. No. If I do this here, then it will overload…. I don't want this thing exploding.) – thought Thauma as it was thinking with dismantled scout golem and helmet device.

(I need to do something about energy reserve and transport instead... There!)

(The mana is moving much smoother now.)

(Now, replace the core and…. Oh. Works on the first try?)

(Interesting…. I think I'm getting hang on this kind of adjustment.)

(Now, connect body, core, "eye" and.... Okay…. Movement…. Activation.)

(Perfect!) – thought Thauma as it assembled the golem and activated it.

(Mana, movement and reaction…. All stable and not problem detected.)

(Okay…. I think this one should have MUCH larger range than before.)

"…"

(And yet, enemy has still to show themselves.) – thought Thauma as it quickly put on its previously made helmet device and used it to share vision with its scout golems, which shook off the snow that covered their bodies, before then looking around.

(Honestly, at this point I know they are planning something big…. But each day passed with this "silence" is scaring me….)

(Just what is the enemy planning?)

(…. Maybe I will find something with these new scout golems.) – thought Thauma as it didn't wasted anymore time and instantly started assembling the new line of scout golem generation, before then instantly setting them to the outside world.

(Okay…. Squad A, pull back and head back to the dungeon.) – Thauma ordered the previous three scout golems to turn back, passing by the new generation of the golems.

"…"

(Hm…. I think…. I think they should be able to reach it? At the very least they should be now able to reach forest edge or area around it.) – thought Thauma as it was using its golems to travels the forest.

"!"

(I can see it!) – Thauma golems finally managed to spot and see the remains of the outpost from afar, prompting Thauma to command one of its new golems to head towards the ruined outpost.

"…"

(Dammit.) – thought Thauma as its golems were finally able to reach location near the outpost, managing to finally move close enough to get somewhat proper look on the ruined base.

(It is destroyed…. There are no sights of anybody even using this place.) – thought Thauma as its golem sat on top of a tree.

(Nobody is there…. Does that mean they had completely abandoned that place?)

(What about the other spot?) – thought Thauma as it had the other golem go towards the second forest edge where the battle between golems and soldier supposable took place.

(…. Nothing…. There is really…. Wait a moment.)

"…"

(I see something…. There is something far away…. I can't exactly tell what, but is it a camp? Building? A settlement?)

"…"

(Enemy base?)

"…"

(Either way.)

(It maybe it.)

(Golems.)

(Head my call.)

(Gather for the new orders.)

Thauma without hesitation started moving.

All the golems that were in the forest had already gathered near the dungeon entrance had received new orders.

[Destroy whatever is located outside the forest.]

And so, the golem army marched.

"For crying out loud. Why the hell we had to make camp here of all the places?" – said the soldier on the watch duty

"Wouldn't it be better to just take over some remains of that village we saw and use it as our base?"

"Well, two reasons." – replied human soldier.

"First: That place is bit too far away from the forest and we need to be at least bit close to see anything from afar."

"Secondly, we need to be close to the main road that is connect to the forest in order to warn anybody."

"….Still, I think we may soon no need to guard this place any longer."

"From what the supply guy said, today is the day where the adventurers gather."

"By the looks of things the operation will finally start up."

"…."

"?"

"You good?" – asked the human soldier as he noticed the soldier on watch duty complexed expression.

"…Yea…. No…" – replied the watch duty soldier as he turned around, facing the human soldier.

"I was there…. During the first operation and let me tell you something…. Hell, these things…. They were terrifying."

"I get screams, shouts, insults, threats coming from the enemy, be it person or a monster…. But these things? They were silent."

"They around, murdering anything they see in silence…. These things are not alive."

"Honestly, I don't know if we will be able to beat those monsters on the first try…." – said the soldier as he turned back.

"Now just...Just…. Wait a moment." - said the soldier as he stood up as he noticed something appearing in the distance, prompting the soldier to quickly pick up the spyglass and use it.

"…"

"Shit…. OH, FUCKING SHIT!"

"?!"

"W-what is it?!" – asked surprised and alarmed human soldier.

"Raise the alarm! Raise the fucking alarm!" – shouted the watch duty soldier.

"The golems! These fucking monsters are heading straight for us!"

[Few hours later: City]

"For crying out loud! Why the fuck these idiots are fighting again?!" – asked pissed off general.

"Well…. They are complaining about food, about the place they are staying at…. And some people want to already go." – said the beastman knight.

*Sigh*

"I've fucking told them MANY fucking times about the food, temporarily accommodations and that we are going FUCKING tomorrow!" – said pissed off general.

"Seriously! They are acting like a bunch of spoiled children!"

"Well…. We are using a ruined city as our base of operation…. There are also wild monsters and bandits on the lose…. And there is also snow everywhere." – replied the beastman soldier.

"So honestly, I somewhat understand why are they complaining so much right now."

"…"

"Oh…. Fuck…. Yea… You are right." – said the general as he sat down.

"…Are…. Are you alright sir?" – asked the worried beastman knight.

"No…. No, I'm not." – replied general.

"This fucking dungeon and this entire territory had been draining me mentally."

"And now I have to deal with adventurers on top of it all…. Honestly, maybe I should had changed the plans and go today."

"…. Ah, fuck it. I'm going to the bed early. I really need to fucking take a nap." – said the general, before then he began hearing some kind of commotion outside.

"…What is it now?" – said the general before moments later a human soldier right outside the general tent got off his horse and quickly ran inside.

"GENERAL! URGENT NEWS!" – said the soldier.

"The golems had attacked our camp!"

"!?"

"Oh what in the actual fuck?!" – said the general.
