"Okay! Listen up you all! The very next floor maybe the final floor of the dungeon!" – shouted Adam as the adventurers finished up their rest and recovery.
"Considering what we seen so far, the dungeon master could be consider a threat level C, C+ or maybe even B in worst case scenario."
"We also didn't saw 3 elite monsters that we had encounter on the surface, so there is good chance that the tank, ballista and big hound golems will be in this last floor."
"So keep your guard up." – said Adam as the frontliners opened up the door, revealing a stair that led to the final floor of the dungeon.
(Dungeon master.) – thought worried Adam as the adventurers started descending down.
(There creatures are unique and pretty much all of them posses some basic form of intelligence, at least child level intelligent minimally.)
(The golems are tools…. A living construct.)
(None of them shown any sign of intelligence.)
(But somebody must had controlled them.)
(Somebody must had given them orders and what not.)
(And the only main suspect would be the dungeon master.)
(The golems never ventured very far form the forest in the first place…. Oscar said that if our theory is correct, then dungeon master would have some range when it comes to control…. And it would explain why the golems wouldn't leave the forest for long. They would be outside the dungeon master control range.)
(Then what were these small golems for? They didn't have any offensive ability.)
"…"
"!"
(Scout! They were scouts!)
(We knew they were observing us for the information, but they may had been just scouts all along!)
(Then does that mean the dungeon master has been observing our movements as soon as we got near the forest?)
"…"
"?"
"What's wrong?" – asked Mawa who noticed concern look on Adam's face.
"Well… I'm wondering about sending few guys back…. Just in case." – said Adam.
"In case something were to happened."
"Are you thinking we will fail?" – asked Markus.
"True, bosses were bit annoyed, but honestly speaking? I think we would have been able to handle them all on our own. Or maybe one of us would deal with it."
"…He… He isn't wrong on this one." – said Mawa.
"Once we destroy the dungeon master, the dungeon will enter a critical state where it won't be able to function at full power until the dungeon master is revived."
"Again. Just precaution." – said Adam.
"There is no telling what the hell we will be facing."
"There is also the problem with those bombs."
"Are they inside of the dungeon? Those things can fuck us in more than one way…. And to make things annoying, there is good chance that the parts of the dungeon may collapse." – said Adam as the frontliners reached the end of the stairs.
"Hey! We reached the final floor!" – shouted the frontliner, alarming Adam and the B-rank adventures.
"…"
"Look. I'm just going to sent one guy." – said Adam.
"It shouldn't drop out combat power."
"Hey! You!" – said Adam as he approached a hooded man.
"Hm? What is it?" – asked a hooded man.
"You are one of the guys that specializes in scouting and traps detection, rouge, right? Can you go and inform the people outside about the situation. Specifically, about our discoveries and theories."
"Hm… Okay." – said the hooded man as he started heading back.
"…You are way too paranoid man." – said Markus.
"True… I maybe paranoid." – replied Adam.
"But I'm not taking chances."
"Anyway. Keep your guard up!" – said Adam as he turned towards adventurers.
"There is good chance that the ballista golems are here! And if that is the case, then we need heavy fortification at front!" – said Adam as the frontliners started preparing their abilities and skills, while mages got ready to apply their enchantment skills.
"Well then…. Let's go." – said Adam as the adventurers started the exploration of the final floor.
"…"
"Hm…. This floor is much wider compare to the one from before…. Careful you all! There is good chance that we will be facing more traps!" – said Mawa as he inspected the floor, trying to spot anything out of ordinary, while the group already made some distance from the stairs.
"!"
"BARRIER! NOW!" – shouted wolf beastman, instantly alarming everybody as a ballista bolts flew straight at the adventurers, prompting everybody to put their defense as the projectiles clashed against the frontliners.
"!"
"HEY! YOU OKAY?!" – shouted Adam.
"Y-yea! Kind of!? Injured! But not dead!" – replied dwarven adventurer who got knocked down from the impact.
"!"
"WATCH OUT!" – shouted wolf beastman as a barrage of crossbow bolts came flying.
"I got this!" – said Elizabeth as she quickly leaped in front of frontliners and began countering the crossbow bolts, dealing with most of the projectiles, before then dealing with a ballista bolt that came her way, which she also easily knocked away.
"Ha! Easy!" – said Elizabeth as she stood completely injured.
"Don't let your bloody guard down!" – shouted Mawa.
"MOVE FORWARD! AND KEEP YOUR DEFENCES UP!" – shouted Adam.
"…"
(That woman is truly troublesome.) – thought Thauma as it observed adventurers.
(Even enchanted version of the ballista golem doesn't have enough power to break her defenses.)
(Well, they have yet to reach the golems.)
The adventurers moved forward, trying to reach the golems that were only focused on the range combat.
"Hey! Shouldn't we try shoot them?!" – asked a human mage.
"No! Focus on defense! There is good chance that these tanks golems are here! Our half assed attacks will do shit on them!" – replied Oscars as the adventurers pushed forward.
However, as the adventurers started coming closer to golems, one of the frontliners stepped on a brick, which sink into the ground.
"?"
(What was that?) – thought the man before moments later a brick title moved away from the wall, firing a crossbow bolt that hit a man near the wall right in the neck.
"?!"
"What the fuck?!" – said the panicking frontliner who just saw the man getting shot, surprising and scaring the man as he backed away from the victim…. Unknowingly stepping on another rigged brick, which ended up causing another crossbow trap to fire, hitting a random person.
This in turn caused another chain of reaction as another and another person stepped on the trap, causing the walls to fire crossbow bolts at the people.
"!"
"BACK AWAY! BACK THE FUCK AWAY! THE FLOOR IS RIGGED WITH TRAPS!" – shouted Mawa as adventurers started in panic quickly walking backwards while dragging the injured.
"Shit! Medic! MEDIC! WE NEED A FUCKING HEALER HERE!" – shouted terrified man as he was trying to help a man that had his entire neck pierce with a crossbow bolt.
"Fuck me! The floor is rigged with traps?!" – said Adam as the adventurers were locked in place.
"That is their strategy! The golems are shooting at us while the traps keep us from approaching!"
"…"
"HEY! MAWA! MARKUS!" – shouted Elizabeth.
"Fallow me!" – said the noble lady as she straight up ran ahead.
"?!"
"The fuck are you doing?!" – said Mawa as he quickly fallowed behind.
"…Oh… Yea, that works." – said Markus to himself as he quickly ran after the two.
The trio of B-ranks right through the dungeon halls, dodging and blocking the hail of projectiles, while sometimes activating some of the traps, causing a crossbow bolts to be fired from the wall
"I get the front, you deal with traps, young boy!" – said Elizabeth.
"Who made you the fucking boss, huh?!" – said pissed off young man who started preparing to cast his spell.
Crossbow bolts and ballista bolts came from the front, but were easily blocked by Elizabeth.
However, because of how much the trio was rushing forward, it was obvious that they ended up triggering some of the traps, causing attacks to came from the sides which Elizabeth was unable to defend against as she was forced to pay her entire attention at the front.
[Wind Magic: Wind Scarf]
But there was no need to as the young man finished casting his spell and creating a gust of protective wind that knocked away the projectiles that came the trio way, easily protecting the entire party from any shots that were unleashed by the traps.
(Ah…. Crap. That ain't good.) – thought Thauma as the trio of B-rank adventurers made past the line of traps and reached the golems.
(Well…. There goes my fucking plan.)
(They will keep the golems occupied, giving enough other people time to walk across the trapped field.)
(God dammit. I thought it would at least hold them back a bit or something…. But I guess not?!)
(….That spell…. He used it before back then, didn't he?)
(It is definitely a defense-oriented spell…. None of the crossbow bolts are reaching him…. Damn. That is one annoying spell.)
(Well… At least one person has died?) – thought Thauma as it noticed one of the adventurers with a crossbow bolt sticking out from their face.
(Still, kind of wish at least few more died…. But I guess I was too hopeful.)
(Goddammit.)
(…)
(Yeb.)
(I guess there is no demining it.)
(I guess I will have to fight them myself.)
