"!?"
"WHO ARE YOU?!" – shouted the beastman knight as he noticed the new golems coming.
(A knights being accompanied by golems?!)
"HEY! WHO THE FUCK?! ANSWER ME!? ARE YOU WITH ROYAL FACTION?! NOBLE FACTION!?"
"…"
But the golems gave no reply and instead continues moving forwards towards the soldiers.
(Dammit! Who the hell are those people?!) – thought the beastman knight.
(I don't recognize these armors they are wearing!)
(Wait…. Outside kingdom!?)
"WHICH KINGDOM ARE YOU FROM?!" – shouted beastman before moments later puppet soldiers aimed with their crossbows and fired, unleashing a barrage of bolts that struck multiple soldiers and almost the beastman knight who barely dodged the attack.
(These golems that weren't in the report.)
(It all makes sense now!)
(They are not from the dungeon! They were brought here by these people!) – thought the beastman as the puppet soldiers and knights began charging forward.
(But who are these people!? Where did they came from?!)
(And what is their goal here?!)
"GET READY! THESE ARE OUR ENEMIES!" – shouted the beastman knight as the golems and soldiers began fighting golem soldiers.
(It doesn't matter! They are here to kill us!)
The blades of the soldiers and golems clashes with each other….. And it didn't took long at all for the soldiers to realize something.
These new golems are also much stronger than golems from before.
Their strikes were able to pass through the soldiers defenses, while their defenses were able to take on direct hits from soldiers.
"The hell are these!?" – said the panicking soldier before then getting stabbed right in the face with a spear.
"I'VE FUCKING TOLD YOU TO NOT PANIC!" – shouted beastman knight as he quickly forward and knocked multiple golem soldiers down, before then quickly running and helping out few other soldiers in pinch.
"Just stick to the plan from before! Focus on fighting together! We still outnumber the enemy!"
"The moment you break your line, they will hunt you down!" – shouted the beastman knight, commanding the soldiers, before then noticing a sword and shield wielding knight golem approaching the man.
"…"
(There is only…..4…. 4 knights.)
(Only 4? And yet they dare to attack us? I don't like this.) – thought the beastman as he quickly began cutting down the soldiers golems while making his way towards the knight golem.
The golem raised up its blade and swung it down, forcing the beastman to try and block the attack with his weapon.
But once the two weapons clashed with each, the beastman instantly got on his knees.
"!?"
(The hell was that impact?!) – thought Beastman as he quickly slipped past the blade and quickly tried counter attacking with his halbert, only for the golem to use its shield to block the attack before then trying slash the beastman once again, but only scratching and damaging the beastman armor as he man managed to leap away, dodging the strike.
(What is with this strike!? It easily overpowered me!) – thought the panicking beastman as he tried keeping his distance from the knight golem, before then rushing forward and restarting the exchange of attacks between the two knights.
(Not only that, but my own strike did nothing to him either!) – thought the beastman as his attacks were either blocked by the shield or even when they managed to strike the body of the golem, it did not looked like the creature was bothered one bit by it.
(But I'm faster than him!)
(All I need to-)
Two knights continued their exchange of blows…. But right as it about to begin, a crossbow bolt flew and pierced right through the man armor, piercing his body and lungs.
"!?"
It was a crossbow knight golem who struck the man.
And right now?
He was vurnable to the swordman golem.
"W- "
The knight golem swung down his blade, striking down the beastman knight.
"!"
"NO!" – shouted the beast-human knight as he tried quickly rushing towards the beastman side, only to be then stopped by the twin axe knight golem.
"PISS OFF YOU BASTARD!" – shouted beast-human as he dodged one of the axes and used the halbert point to stab the knight golem right in the face through the gabs.
"…"
But in the right next moment, the axe wielding golem struck the man in the shoulder, catching the man completely off guard.
(B-but- that should had….. Killed him?) – thought the beast-human knight before then getting murdered by the knight golem.
The soldiers…. They had number advantage.
200 soldiers isn't a small number.
True, some of those soldiers may not had seen ever battle before, but they received a basic training and their were grown man that were both equipped that shown how to fight.
They also had some experience in fighting ever since the war has started.
But there is problem.
The beast golems ripped apart in brutal way some of the soldiers, while the puppet golems were able to fight on equal grounds with the soldiers.
As for the knight golems?
They were real monsters.
They were demolishing the soldiers.
There maybe only 5 knights present in the area, but they were making their presence extremely well known.
But still, there was more soldiers and they managed to destroy few beast golems by fighting side by side.
Even if the knights golems were noticeable stronger than any other golem they had encounter before, they could still attack it together and take it down, right?
But what about the problem? What is it?
The answer is simple.
Fear.
These golems brutality and inhumanity was shown to the soldiers as they ripped the soldiers bodies like nothing.
And the one that united them? The one who led them and guided them?
Dead.
They were killed as if they were nothing.
These men wanted to survive.
It is normal thing.
But here is a problem.
Sometimes will to "survive" can make people turn into cowards.
"F-fuck this!" – said the soldier as he instantly started running away.
"!"
"HEY! STOP! WE NEED TO FIGHT TOGETHER!" – shouted injured human knight as he noticed few soldiers starting to back away or just straight up start running away.
"IF WE RUN! WE DIE! WE NEED TO FIGHT TOGETHER IF WE ALL WANT TO SURVIVE!"
A voice of reason.
A voice that carries a truth.
This is something that cowards may not heed, but for some those are the words they needed.
They still had a chance.
…
But unfortunately for them, they battle for far too long.
The other remaining golems arrived and began rushing towards the soldier.
The soldiers still outnumbered the golems and still had some chance.
But their cowardliness was much more stronger.
The soldiers began running away in fear, causing their ranks to fall apart, allowing the golems to push forward and hunt down the isolated soldiers, which only caused the fear to spread further.
Obvious soldiers fought back, they destroyed golems, even managing to injure the knight golems.
But a army of cowards is no true army.
And for that kind of army, the number advantage truly means nothing if nobody has any will to fight, but only to survive.
Left and right the soldiers have fallen, while those who had any ability to even led or motivate the people were either killed or turned into the cowards themselves, causing the entire army to start falling apart.
And before long, they started running.
The battle was lost.
Corpse of the soldiers and knight filled the battlefield, overwhelming the remaining soldiers with terror as they began screaming
They ran and screamed for mercy, but the golems showed non.
Those who were caught were ripped apart by the monsters
The cowards tried to escape as the hounds and bolts went after them.
In their desperation, some of the soldier sabotaged their brethren, making them deal with the mindless monsters who went after them.
Some were killed on the spot….. But some that were…. Less lucky…. Ended up being captured and dragged back into the dungeon, where they would met fate worse than death waiting for them.
"Shit! let me go! Let me go!" – said the trashing soldier.
"P-please! I beg you! I have daughter and wife! I need to go back home!"
Those who were captured were dragged through the entire dungeon, all the way to its depts…. Were they would end up brought to the non-other than the master of these monstrosities.
Thauma.
"I have questions for you." – said the puppet by writing down its sentence on the piece of paper.
"And you will answer them."
[Meanwhile: Maw city.]
"…..Huh…. So, the brat was telling the truth." – said the human knight with brown hair as he stared down at the rotting corpse of the nobleman who was stripped out of his fancy armor.
"If that is the true, then should we try and hunt down these soldiers?" – asked a soldier of the Royal faction.
"No." – replied knight.
"They are Noble faction's problem."
"If anything, it is for the best to let these rebels run around for now, since it may cause more of the Noble faction's soldiers to rebel."
"For now, we need to deal with the remaining soldiers that are still left in this territory."
"They are scared and without leader, but if we leave them be their will become bandits or regroup with the Noble faction forces."
"Yes sir." – replied soldier before then walking away.
"…"
(Huh….. Sucks to be them.) – thought the knight before then kicking the nobleman's corpse.
(According to that shitty brat we had captured, the soldiers rebled against the leader of the army and executed him on the spot.)
(He used a magic tool to escape with his life…. But unfortunately for him, we managed to capture.)
(Considering that shitty brat attitude that we had captured, I can already tell what kind of shitty bastard was his father, who was the leader of the Noble factions forces here.)
(We managed to take over the key location of this territory and with it, restoring the rightful control of it to the kingdom will be easy job.)
"…"
(But I still don't get it.)
(I was first doubtful about general Oranox warnings…. But now? Yea, I can see it.)
(The traitors had no way of surviving this, even if the soldiers didn't rebelled against Noble faction in order to survive.)
(So why was the Noble faction dead set on keeping control over this place?)
(The strategic position of this territory sucks and the only real value is the golem dungeon….. Which now is still not a national level dungeon, meaning it would provide enough income.)
(Which is why it makes it so confusing.)
(There is no strategic reason to be even here.)
(So why are they so obsessed? Just what are they scheming?)
