In total, Selthia and I managed to incapacitate 130 vampires. It was originally 180 vampires, but she killed a few of them who tried to get too grabby with their hands. She was so angry that not even I could've talked her out of killing them if I wanted to.
The rest of the vampires who experienced her wrath were too afraid to speak and lift their heads. She looked down on them like an empress observing her subjects. I looked down on the vampires lying before me, and I couldn't help but feel disappointed.
If I keep taking in trash, then in the end my pack will consist of nothing but trash. I needed to mold them into something useful. My goal was never to save people anyway. I wanted people who could be useful.
These vampires here have been spoiled for far too long. I could tell that at a glance. They were loyal for staying with their clan after everything, but that was all they had: loyalty. To be honest, I needed to make sure my pack didn't fall into the same rut.
I needed a right-hand man. Someone who was loyal but also the embodiment of strength. Someone who could make sure my pack never turned weak or frail. So far, I don't think anyone in my pack is capable of such a role.
My world is full of powerful creatures. Creatures I intended to conquer one by one. Whether they were vampires or wraiths or mythical wolves. I aimed to build the strongest pack. For that, I'll need strong and capable people by my side along the way.
I was disappointed by the vampires in front of me, but I felt hopeful. Hopeful that they could become better than they currently are. All it took for them to keep bowing their heads was me releasing a bit of my bloodlust.
"Your clan has lost its nobility title. Your leader is dead, and his daughter is now my captive. You have two choices. You can either die with your leader or join me."
Just then, I revealed their leader's heart, which I had yet to have eaten. I wanted to show them the fate that awaited them if they chose death. People tend to glorify death, if it was for honor or loyalty or some other reason that would make them admired.
I wouldn't offer them any of those illusions. I wanted them to see the grim fate that awaited them. Their faces contorted in horror when they saw what remained of the man they've served for centuries.
I could smell their fear rising. Survival was the basic instinct for all living creatures. All their silly fantasies of loyalty and honor were shattered in an instant. It was replaced by the cold, hard fact of survival of the fittest.
One by one, I watched their opinions change before my eyes.
"My darling is being generous by giving you the chance to live. There is a war brewing in this city, and you should be happy to be on the winning side," Selthia intervened.
Her words further urged them to act. In the end, I turned all of the vampires who were still alive. I injected them with my venom and watched them turn into primordial vampires. The only person I didn't turn was the clan leader's daughter.
"What do you plan to do with her?" Selthia asked.
"I'm going to dissect her mind and figure out why she is the way she is. I'll find out what makes her tick, make her submit then turn her."
If she became half as powerful as her father, then it will be well worth it.
"And if not?" Selthia asked. She seemed rather excited by the prospect of me not being able to turn her.
I didn't answer her question since I knew she already knew the answer. After I turned them, my next task was getting them in order. I needed them to be useful at least in some way. I'll use them to get inside the noble vampire's society.
"From this day on, the Sun clan is no more. You are now the Lycann pack."
The group of ragtag vampires who I just conquered now looked at me as their savior.
"I'll start by returning your noble title."
This was easier said than done. I was a wanted man after killing Allucard, so at the very least, the Veylmont clan would never accept me as one of the rulers of this city. Plus the fact that I was a werewolf. This city was ruled by vampires and witches. All the other creatures were subordinate.
For another creature to become one of the rulers, especially a werewolf. A race which was cast out for being disliked by vampires, it would be practically impossible. But luckily, I had a plan in store to make sure things go my way.
After I was done instructing them on how to behave from now on, I went back to Grey Waste with the daughter of the Sun clan slung over my shoulder. Selthia walked happily beside me. Before we left, I took a moment to feed her the hearts of the vampires she killed while I consumed the heart of the Sun Clan leader.
A heart belonging to such a powerful man wasn't even enough for me to level up, and once again I felt cheated. It was frustrating.
"Darling, your eyes are glowing again. Don't worry, you will be able to progress normally again. Remember what the demon said," Selthia quickly grabbed a hold of my hand to comfort me.
She was right. But my instincts were telling me to kill everyone in this city and be done with it. But it would be a mistake to rush things. As weak as I am now, I needed to outwit the top players of this city before I could take their lives.
I took several deep breaths to calm myself, but it wasn't working. No matter how I tried, my anger wouldn't dissipate. This city was just too buzzing with lifeforce for me to keep a level head.
"I need to kill something."
My senses were heightened. I could hear everything that was going on around the city. All the heartbeats synchronized as one. My sense of smell was overstimulated. I could smell everything.
My sense locked onto one specific target. It was the pink-haired girl I saw earlier tonight at the auction. This person was one of the 4 queen witches that ruled the city. The witch of sloth herself.
