Arcane Academy: The Divine Extraction Legacy

Chapter 1081: The Apprentices

The city's barrier was still intact even after the bombardment from the airships above.

Explosive runes and spells struck its surface, but the layered enchantments created by multiple Immortals specializing in large-scale Formation Circles weren't something that could be easily destroyed without the power of Divinity...

Inside the command tower, a First-Class Arcanist monitored the barrier's integrity.

"Still holding," she reported. "The outer districts are damaged, but the core is stable."

Soon, the magic automatons deployed by Denise in this city engaged the Chaos Beasts directly, together with the Arcanists…

Still, the Automatons were the ones in front.

One unit of humanoid constructs formed a phalanx near the western gate, using synchronized shield formations to absorb the initial charge of the chaos beasts that seemed more like a chimeras or something that had been a mistake inside a laboratory…

Nonetheless, the job of the Automatons was to hold the line and ensure that the Arcanists, especially those in Mystic and Elemental Arts Practitioners, could cast their Spells and deal with the Chaos Beasts…

Rooaarr~

The Chaos Beasts roared after being stopped by the Automatons outside the city wall… However, before they could do more damage, the Elemental Golems finally arrived!

They were created not through a summoning technique, but through a core that was created by Denise's Workshop.

At this time, a magma golem slammed its fist into the ground, creating a shockwave that sent a dozen beasts flying.

A frost golem followed up, freezing the terrain and slowing their advance. The defenders weren't as weak as those cities that the Chaos Immortals had previously conquered!

From above, Kent watched the resistance unfold…

It was such a fascinating sight as he believed that once they conquered the Shadow Domain, they would be able to obtain this magic tech…

"They've deployed constructs," Neylan noted. "They call it automatons and golems. We must capture the one who managed to create these things... Having them would make it easier for us to deal with the mortals once we controlled this realm."

However, Gyn frowned at the current situation. "Why is there no Immortal coming up? Should we try and ravage the land and force them to come out?"

Neylan shook his head at this… "This place has a lot of pure Arcane Energy… We can make this place our Holy Land once we take over this place… Especially the central area with 16 Mysterious Towers. Let's be patient. I'm sure they wouldn't want the cities they built over the years to be broken so easily… They'll show themselves real soon."

Arin then adjusted the Chaos Beast formations as they were slowly being pressured by the numerous Arcanist, Automatons, and Golems...

"We'll need to redirect them. The automatons are too coordinated. We'll lose momentum if we keep pushing here."

Kent heard this and sighed…

They were truly incapable of being generals who could command troops. In the end, he still had to remind them of what to do…

"Then collapse the eastern flank. Force them to split their defense." Kent said.

Even if the automatons and golems continued to push back the Chaos Beasts, the pressure was still building up. The airships above circled like vultures, waiting for the barrier to crack. The defenders needed more than machines.

They needed monsters of their own.

And they had them…

Twenty-five young Arcanists stood atop the eastern wall of Capone City.

They wore no uniform. Their robes were mismatched, their weapons varied.

But their presence carried hope to the Arcanists below...

Each one had received Sreas the Asura's blood and flesh, an ancient ritual that had reshaped their bodies, reforged their cores, and awakened dormant potential.

Indeed, the apprentices of the Asura had finally arrived…

Because of the Asura's unique body, their physiques rivaled the Chaos Beasts now!

As soon as they triggered the power of Asura within their bodies, they immediately felt changes as they obtained part of the Asura's uniqueness…

Some bore horns. Others had scaled arms or clawed fingers.

Their veins pulsed with Asura energy, and their aura distorted the air around them!

As soon as they were prepared, they didn't wait for orders.

They immediately leapt from the wall to help the Automatons!

These people were grouped into three.. Dark Arts, Mystic Arts, and Beast Arts Practitioners…

The first to land was Yna, a Dark Arts Practitioner who had graduated from Marshall Academy and became Sreas' apprentice... She was also the leader of the Dark Arts Group.

Soon, her shadow split into six tendrils, each one moved and started binding a Chaos Beast nearby…

"Hooo~ This feels good! I think my Phantasm State can last me three or more hours straight!" Yna laughed as she felt how strong she was.

She just felt an overwhelming power within her body so she couldn't stop casting spells… Soon, she used a powerful Blood Curse…

As soon as it hit the target, the beast's limbs twisted unnaturally before collapsing!

'It's so effective!' Yna couldn't help but celebrate…

It was the same for others.

Then, there was Halem, a Mystic Arts Practitioner and the leader of his group.

Halem was one of Armin's classmates in his later years in the Academy. They had both attended Tower Conquering Class, where they had to challenge multiple Arcane Towers that were outside the Academy Grounds.

"Die! Disgusting Chaos Beasts!"

Then, with a single gesture, he summoned a gravity well that crushed three beasts into the ground. Gravity Spell was a Fusion Spell, and it wasn't something he could cast until he became Sreas' apprentice.

"Ohhh… That's brutal… I only tried these on dummies before… But it could really crush bones and organs." Halem was a bit shocked, but he quickly accepted it.

'I'm only an Apprentice now… If I become her official disciple… I'll be getting more benefits. I need to show how great I am…' Halem thought as he believed that he was being watched by his master right now…

Then came Ral, a Beast Arts Practitioner and the leader of this smaller group. As a matter of fact, there were only five Beast Arts Practitioners among them…

At this point, his body had mutated further than the others…

His arms were covered in fur, his legs became more muscular, and his eyes became feral.

Seeing the Chaos Beasts being stopped by the Automatons, he roared loudly and charged, tearing through a Chaos Beast with raw strength alone!

With their sudden appearance, the momentum had shifted!
