Wizard: Starting from the Skill Tree

Chapter 316: Suppressing the Curse

Duke stood on the back of the Storm Dragon Eagle, casually tossing Bell's space ring into the Light God Court.

He mainly worried that the Crawford Clan could trace this ring, as it indeed bore the Crawford Clan's emblem.

Placing it inside the Light God Court was equivalent to throwing it into another plane, making it extremely difficult to track.

...

Ten days later.

Duke sat cross-legged on the broad back of the Storm Dragon Eagle, while simultaneously guiding its direction and fully suppressing the restless curse in his left arm.

The cold sensation of erosion was like maggots gnawing at his magic power barrier, each impact causing a slight pain in his spiritual power.

The Void Corridor was indeed vast and expansive, and even with a clear route, it still took ten full days of flight to reach the vicinity of the twelfth entrance area.

This was only possible due to the Storm Dragon Eagle's extreme speed, shortening the travel time.

For others, it might take the full three months that the Void Corridor allows to reach the entrance area.

Without maps or coordinates, getting lost in the Void Corridor is quite common.

Previously, Duke had stayed in the Eternal Darkness Corridor area for a month and was taken to a faraway place by it, flying a long way to return.

In these ten days, the curse power in his left arm hadn't weakened at all; instead, it grew stronger and almost uncontrollable.

During this time, Duke discovered that this was a curse power capable of growing rapidly on its own, able to consume his magic power and even his life force.

His life force was also slowly dwindling, though at a slow pace that wouldn't have a major effect in the short term.

But if it continued, when he could no longer suppress this curse power, it might engulf his entire body.

"I must leave the Void Corridor as soon as possible..." Duke frowned, feeling the heavy pressure of the curse.

The Storm Dragon Eagle, guided by him, flew swiftly along the relatively safe route marked in his data, passing through areas of colorful, chaotic energy in the void.

Just as he was about to reach a relatively stable void floating island marked on the map as a transit point, Duke's keen spiritual power detected intense energy fluctuations and the roar of magic ahead.

Duke immediately sent the Eye of Darkness located in the shadow space ahead to investigate, seeing three people besieging Merrick.

Merrick looked battered, with patches of his wizard robe torn, yet his expression remained calm, though there was some weariness on his face.

The three surrounding him were at the strength of Liquidation Wizards, seeming worse off than him, all injured in various ways.

Amid the stormy barrage of spells and witchcraft artifacts from the three, Merrick was like a lonely boat in turbulent seas, seemingly about to be swallowed but narrowly avoiding critical blows each time.

His movements weren't quick, but each dodge and spellcasting timing was precisely matched during gaps in their attacks or when their old strength was exhausted before new strength arose.

Merrick wasn't a wizard who solely focused on research; he was also very skilled in combat, with a high talent for practical battles.

Seeing this, Duke immediately steered the Storm Dragon Eagle to the scene, jumping down from its back, his feet touching the yellow sand, which extended and transformed into several giant hands to grasp the three.

Moreover, the Storm Dragon Eagle soared above, its wings sweeping down several thick bolts of lightning covering the area where the three were active, leaving them nowhere to hide.

The three had no choice but to hold on, using their defense type magic or defense witchcraft artifacts to shield themselves.

But the Storm Dragon Eagle was a Level 1 Peak being and one of the stronger among them; its spells were not easily blocked.

With Duke and Merrick also taking action, the three only lasted a moment before meeting their demise.

Merrick breathed a sigh of relief, saying, "I didn't expect you to still be here; I thought you'd already left."

"I was trapped in one area for a while before I got out." Duke didn't go into details.

Merrick glanced at the Storm Dragon Eagle, asking, "Is this your summoned beast?"

"Yes." Duke could only explain the Storm Dragon Eagle as his summoned beast.

Merrick, hearing that, showed genuine envy, immediately recognizing the power and uniqueness of the Storm Dragon Eagle; signing a summoning contract with such a being was indeed fortunate.

He then keenly sensed something, frowning, "It seems you have some trouble on you?"

Duke smiled wryly, replying, "Yes, I've been cursed."

Merrick's expression quickly turned solemn as he checked Duke's condition, looking even more serious, "Where did you get this? It's not simple; I can only help temporarily suppress it but can't completely clean it off."

Specializing in the Curse Element, Merrick had a deeper understanding of this curse power and knew its tenaciousness.

Merrick took out two small bottles: one sealed with Dark Crystal, containing a thick, inky liquid exuding an unsettling, cold, dead stillness.

The other was a pure, transparent White Crystal Bottle, containing several grains resembling solidified moonlight, emitting a gentle, soft glow.

He used the two materials as casting materials to perform a temporary magic on Duke, suppressing the curse power for the moment.

Duke distinctly felt the curse power in his left arm as if it were pinned down, immediately immobilized, seemingly firmly restrained.

But he knew this was only temporary; Merrick's method merely put the curse power into a short-term dormancy, and it would awaken again after a while, possibly growing stronger.

Duke needed to find a solution to the curse power during this time or it would pose a severe underlying threat.

Merrick, also frowning as he handled the situation, said, "I don't have many leads currently; let's first leave the Void Corridor and I'll research it afterward to see if I can find any solutions."

Duke hadn't expected Merrick to have few solutions, suddenly thinking of something, he asked, "Can the Nightmare Beetle resolve this?"

"Nightmare Beetle? Of course, it can; it's a nemesis of curse power; any Nightmare Beetle that reaches Level 1 can easily devour this curse power," Merrick said.

"But Nightmare Beetles are creatures from the legendary Nightmare Plane, and finding them is extremely difficult. I've never seen one in the Wizard Plane."
