Blaze knew that Picollo was lying. He just didn't understand the reason behind these lies?
Was it because he didn't want the Hero Guild to take over the case and interrogate these people? Or was it because this case involved some internal corporate secret that couldn't be exposed to outsiders?
Whatever the case, the outcome was the same. Someone was lying to him with a straight face. He had two choices before him.
He could either call out your lies and force them to hand these people over, or he could pretend like he didn't see anything.
Both options were loaded. If he chose the first option, he might create a crack between his relationship with Alpha Corp, which had only recently started to heal.
If he chose the second option, he might never know the answer to his questions. Why was Alpha Corp attacked? Who was behind these people? Was it really the Lionel Family?
Without the culprits in his hand, he couldn't do much. Even though earth was infiltrated by outsiders, he couldn't even openly pursue this case without the culprits in hand to connect the threads.
At this moment, he had to make a choice. But was he going to choose?
Just as he opened his lips to say something, Picollo cut him off.
"Oh, Lord Leo said that he was really grateful for your help. He said that you will always be treated like a valued friend of the Alpha Corp, and you won't have to worry about the Elixir Supply."
Blaze immediately swallowed the words he was about to say. A smile spread across his lips, as he realized what was happening.
Picollo was reminding him that the things at stake weren't only their friendship but also the elixirs. If he said what he wanted to say, everything could fall apart.
"Tell him that I look forward to our future cooperation," Blaze finished the tea in a single gulp before standing up.
He reached out his hand to shake Picollo's hand.
Picollo also reached out his hand, completing a firm handshake. Both of them knew that the other person knew the reality. Both of them know that it wasn't a simple meeting but a negotiation. Yet, none of them said it on the surface.
With that, the short meeting came to an end, and Blaze left the alpha labs building, which looked like a child before the massive Hero Tower.
From the next day onwards, Alpha Labs returned to full action mode. All the contracts that were made before the attack were honoured and the deliveries had begun.
As for the preferred partner for the delivery, it was certainly Glitzy that had slowly but surely evolved into a more trustworthy partner.
Although only a small fraction of Glitzy's fleet was modernized with the new wave of funding, it was still enough to improve their reputation by leaps and bounds.
Once the deliveries began, the other end of contact also started being honoured. Alpha Corp started receiving shares of the companies of buyers. In some cases, they received rare materials.
Even though Alpha Labs hadn't sold any more shares, their wings had started to spread. Many people realized that Alpha Corp's valuation was growing much faster than before.
Slowly but surely, the name of Alpha Corp could be heard across the entire space sector. Although they were still a minor player of a newly evolved middle planet, at least they were gaining recognition.
Meanwhile, Alpha Labs had already started working on an invisible catalogue's upgraded version that removed even the sound flaws and other things that could give away their position.
At the same time, Alpha Corp also developed a counter to their own clothes. They started researching special glasses that could detect the invisible clothes and make invisibility useless.
Unfortunately, that was still a work in progress for now, with the work being led by Yelina.
If anything, she had slowly become a more integral part of the company as Picollo started offloading more and more responsibility to her.
Yelina became so busy that she didn't even have time to worry about Picollo, or what he was doing recently.
The only thing she knew was that he was spending quite a lot of time in the underground floor which was turned into an advanced prison by Picollo.
Even though she wanted to check what went on there, she was forbidden from it. That was the only authority she didn't have.
There were not even cameras on that floor for her to use her expertise and hack into the system to see what went on.
Fortunately, her curiosity was often fleeting as the burden of work always distracted her.
In the coming weeks, Alpha Labs expanded even more. The only thing it didn't forget was the original philosophy of hiring people that were looked down upon by the world, just because they were different.
If they didn't have a place to go to, they could always come to Alpha Corp. That's why Alpha Lab was also becoming a household name amongst researchers of earth.
Even quite a few researchers of Hero Tower had started resigning, only to join the Alpha Labs. At this point, it wasn't even about the massive salary they received, but also the recognition.
....
One week later, Picollo was sitting on the underground floor, on a chair. Before him, there were five people, on their knees, tied to a chain.
Their faces looked pale, and their eyes had dark circles all around. They clearly hadn't been able to sleep properly in a long time.
There was no blood on their clothes, and they clearly didn't look like they were tortured. Yet, they looked horrified every time they looked at Picollo like they were looking at a monster.
Even the Captain of the group looked like a completely different person. However, his eyes couldn't be seen as a cloth was still wrapped around them.
No matter what, that was the one instruction of Leo that Picollo never forgot. He didn't remove the restrictions, especially on the most dangerous person of the group.
Picollo had a diary in his hand, which was filled up to the last page. He slowly cut one line, and wrote over it.
"One Percent Concentrate... Almost there."
