[From what it looks like, I think it's a good thing. According to my data, this aligns with the body's natural metamorphosis when it accumulates a lot of mana.]
"Ohh! T-That body transformation thingy!" Brittany remembered Jin talking about that.
"But didn't he already go through that?" Addison asked
"It could be that juicing thing." Angela nodded.
[Rejuvenation.] Jess corrected her.
Angela frowned. "Yeah, that's what I said."
"Do you know how long this will take?" Brittany didn't like seeing Jin in this state. It made her sad, and she didn't like being sad.
[Nope. He could wake up tomorrow, next week, next month, or even—]
"AHHHHHHHHH!"
[Now.]
"Jin!" All three girls jumped on him at the same time, hugging him while some tears poured down their faces.
"Ow! Ow! My back! You're hurting me!"
"S-Sorry!" They all got off and looked at him with a smile.
"What happened. My god, I'm sore as fuck." He got up, stretching his body, and felt something different about himself.
"Haha, cool, I underwent Body Rejuvination. That's unexpected. But it couldn't have come at a perfect time!" He clenched his fists, and a shockwave blew everyone back.
"Jeez, Jin! What was that for?!" Brittany was able to stop herself from colliding with a wall, and she prevented Angela and Addison from getting hurt as well.
"My bad. So, what happened when I was out? And how long was I out for?"
[You were only unconscious for about thirty minutes.]
"Thirty minutes? And I underwent Body Rejuvenation while I was out? Damn, I'm just that guy, huh?"
[No. As for what happened when you were sleeping, some asteroids made contact with the planet, touching down on the ground. Some landed on Olympus while others landed on the surface.]
"That's not good. Let's go check things out. This could be extremely bad."
Jin's new house was on Olympus, so he didn't need to fly all the way up to the floating rock. It also didn't take long for him to find the crash sites.
He had access to the Aegis Corps database, so he could just look it up. Or he could follow the smoke that was rising into the air. Or follow the dozens of troops that were singling in on the crash sites.
Angela's eyes widened. "Wow, even the military is here."
"Not surprising. This isn't something only the Aegis Corps can handle. The military was informed about the Láspi, and they are allowed to act when the security of the planet is at stake." Jin explained.
"I know, but still. It's rare to see the Military and Aegis Corps work together."
"True."
The four of them arrived at the closest crash site, seeing people being taken to makeshift outposts while a holo-barrier was erected around the crater left behind from the impact.
"Looks like they are already quarantining the area. At least they're doing something smart for once." Jin looked around for the person in charge of this area and spotted his grandmother.
"Great. One person I don't wish to speak to."
"Want me to do the speaking?" Brittany asked.
"No, I'm fine. Let's go."
Jerrica was giving out commands, ordering the agents and even military soldiers around. Next to her was also a military commander of some sort. Jin didn't know her rank, but she had a high enough rank to order around soldiers.
"Grandma." Jin approached Jerrica. He wasn't comfortable calling her by her first name, as it felt weird to do. Grandma was simply what he was used to, even if he didn't like her.
"Jin? What are you doing here? And what were you doing in space? We could have shot you down!"
"Yeah, yeah. Look, take this." He handed her multiple vials of his stimulant. Jin actually planned on giving out his first edition of it to the Aegis Corps, but after noticing that the Láspi could wield mana, he didn't have the luxury to be petty.
The more people who died to the Láspi, the stronger it would become. This was about the survival of the species, and his grudges weren't as important as the planet's survival in his eyes.
However, this was the extent of his help. He didn't plan on helping them with their little arms race. Nor did he plan on helping them with weapons or any other defenses.
"Thank you. You didn't have to do this." She smiled
"Yes, I did. If I didn't, the world could get taken over. Do you want that? Well, maybe you do since it was your council who decided to go after the Láspinium in the first place. But it doesn't matter anymore."
Jin walked away and entered the barrier.
"Wait. You aren't authorized to go in here." The military officer shouted, trying to stop Jin.
Jerrica placed a hand on the officer's shoulder. "Stand down. He's qualified. Trust me."
"Understood."
Jin slid down into the crater, arriving at the impact point. He saw the asteroid and pulled out the small piece of Láspi he had, the one he used to help with his experiments.
He used it as a beacon to lure out the other Láspi if they were here, since he couldn't sense them with his own mana. But there was no sign of one here.
"Jess, how many crash sites are there?"
[Thirty.]
"Thirty on Olympus or overall?"
[On Olympus. There are 70 on the surface.]
"Fucking hell, man." Jin put his Láspi away and accessed the data of all the crash sites.
"Find anything?" Jerrica asked
"This place is safe. No Láspi here."
"Are you sure?"
Jin didn't answer and flew away.
"You know, Madam Jerrica, you really suck." Angela approached her. "How can you be so cruel?"
"What are you talking about, child?"
"Shouldn't you have been with Jin after his parents died? You just abandoned him! You made him an orphan by not stepping up."
Jerrica's expression darkened. "As someone who does not understand the circumstances of that day, I'd suggest you shut your mouth."
"Hmph. Don't try and win your way back into his life now. He has a real family now." Angela followed Jin with Brittany and Addison right behind her.
