The clone was blown back into a building that was already on the verge of breaking down, causing it to crumble to the ground. Jin was also pushed back, but he spread his mana out like a web and used it to ricochet himself into the building where the clone was.
Jin wasn't playing around. He could feel how powerful this clone was, and it was significantly higher than the previous clones.
The rubble suddenly moved, so Jin launched a powerful beam that obliterated the rubble, hoping to get the clone in the process.
"Try again." The clone teleported behind Jin and kicked him in the back.
The impact landed square in his ribs and sent him flying through a shattered storefront, glass and concrete exploding outward as his body tore through it. Jin hit the street hard, skidding through dust and blood. He shook his head and felt blood on his hand, but it wasn't his. He saw two dead people inside the building.
'Why is he so strong?' Jin stood up and flew back toward the clone.
They collided in the middle of the street, fists glowing with raw magic. Jin drove a knee into the clone's chest; the clone answered with an elbow that cracked Jin's jaw sideways. Bone popped. Blood sprayed. Jin twisted with the blow and unleashed a point-blank energy burst that flattened three buildings behind the clone in a thunderous chain of collapse.
The clone slammed back into Jin, both of them skidding across asphalt as lightning magic carved trenches beneath their feet. Jin snapped his fingers, runes igniting midair, and fire spears detonated across the block. The clone vanished through the explosions and reappeared above him, heel crashing down like a meteor.
The street cratered, the surrounding building crumbling down.
Jin rolled out, shoulder screaming, and launched upward with a surge of force. They met midair, trading punches faster than sound. Each hit cracked ribs, tore skin, sent blood spinning into the smoke-filled sky. Jin grabbed the clone's arm and snapped it backward—only for the clone to grin through blood and headbutt him hard enough to blacken Jin's vision.
They crashed into a half-standing tower, floors collapsing around them as they fought through the building, smashing through walls, tumbling down stairwells, leaving nothing but ruin behind. Jin drove his palm into the clone's chest and released a compression blast that pulverized the structure from the inside out.
Smirking through all the pain, the clone's eyes started to glow a crimson red and fired into Jin's eyes, staggering him long enough to land a gut punch and a kick to knock Jin away.
"You're pretty good, original. But you're not on my level." Then the clone lifted its hand and smiled. The same sigils Jin had just used flared to life.
"The fuck?!" Jin's eyes widened as his own spell slammed into him. He barely threw up a barrier in time, the copied magic detonating against it and shattering his defense like glass. The clone pressed the advantage, chaining Jin's techniques together flawlessly. Energy waves, gravity spikes, cutting arcs of light, each one familiar, each one lethal.
"Damn, you're not looking too good. Need a hand?"
'Something's wrong! No clone has ever been this strong. No, he's not just strong, but he's copying my fighting style and spells. Even if Eve managed to copy my mana signature, this clone shouldn't be able to copy me like this.'
Jin staggered, bleeding, forced backward through debris and flame. He looked at the clone, and instead of fighting back, he retreated.
"You're not going anywhere!" The clone chased after Jin and struck again with the same copied spells.
But this time, Jin took the spell in its entirety. His bones cracking, skin tearing, and through the spell, he grabbed the clone by the wrist.
"You may be able to copy my spells, but you don't have the same mind to use them as I can." Raw, unrefined power detonated outward, overwhelming the clone. Jin drove punch after punch into its chest, each hit folding space, shattering bone, rupturing organs. The clone screamed as Jin slammed it into the street and dragged it up by the neck.
"Now, what makes you tick?"
"Hehehe, HAHAHAHAHAAHA!"
Jin had no idea why the clone was laughing like a madman, but he ignored the clone and started to read its mind.
"No need for that, I can just show you what makes me tick!" The clone stabbed his own chest and ripped it open, revealing his heart.
Jin was so shocked that he dropped the clone. "I-Impossible! That's impossible!"
"Oh, but it is. How does it feel for your own heart to be in my body?"
The shock that Jin was frozen by instantly turned to rage, and he lunged toward the clone to take his heart back, but an extremely powerful aura slammed into his body, forcing him to the ground.
"Oh, looks like the cat's out of the bag. How is it? Pretty cool, huh?" Eve stepped out of a portal and walked over to the clone, not even bothering to look at Jin.
"Y-You?! How did you get my heart?! I destroyed my body!"
"That's true, but the primordials were generous enough to rebuild it for me just so I can kill you with it. But I needed multiple components to get your body back up and running. Here, take a look."
Eve lifted Jin up, showing him the inside of the portal where his original body was lying on a table. He noticed that it was merged with a Láspi and its chest was open, missing a heart.
"Y-You're recreating me!"
"Indeed. This is why I need all these souls. Everything should be done within a few months, so stay alive until then, okay?" She ripped the heart out of the clone and walked through the portal.
"Oh, and before I go, take a good look." Eve finally revealed who she was, leaving Jin so stunned that he couldn't even open his mouth.
"When we meet again, it will be the end of the world, and your death. I hope you like the battlefield I set up for our battle. It will be needed for our final showdown." She stepped into the portal, leaving Jin behind to bathe in his wounds and shock.
