Since Jin was suspended from going on missions, he had a lot of time on his side. He understood that Mrs Horton was allowing him to do whatever he wanted off the books to learn as much information as he could.
If he were caught, then there would be no repercussions on her end since she had told Jin that he was not to do the things he was currently doing.
"Are you sure about this, Jin? I don't want you to get in more trouble." Brittany was worried that if Jin was found not only continuing Aegis Corps missions, but also working with one of them, he would be kicked out of the Corps.
"It's okay. Don't worry about that. There are more important things to worry about." Since the Sons of Adam's next target was Carlnitus Industries, Jin thought it was appropriate to warn the guy that his tech was planning on being stolen in a little over two weeks.
"Do you think he will believe you? I mean, it's kind of suspicious if two young Aegis Corps members waltz into his company, demand a meeting with him, then tell the guy that the tech he's been working on for decades is going to be used for some crazy extrimest cult."
"Even if he doesn't listen to us, at least he would be warned. If he decided to do nothing about it, then that's on him. However, I will be at the event he's hosting soon to make sure things go smoothly, or as smoothly as they can go."
Jin and Brittany, who were flying in the sky this whole time, landed in front of Carlnitus Industries. The place was massive, a tall glass skyscraper with dozens of floors. The name of the company was at the top of the building and lit up at night.
Walking inside, it was clear as day that this place was a hardware and software company. Everything was holo-tech, devices were more advanced than the latest models, messages were sent via holograms instead of instant voice transmissions, and the building had doors that looked like walls.
"Wow, it's been a long time since we've been here." Brittany was always fascinated by the technology in this place. The Aegis Corps was extremely advanced, but these private corporations were always at the top.
"Our field trip during middle school," Jin remembered.
"Yeah. Good times." Though she was two grades and years above Jin, they still went on the same field trips organized by the school they went to.
The two of them strolled over to the front desk and spoke with the receptionist, who had just gotten off the phone.
"Yes, how may I help you two?" The man asked with a bright smile on his face.
"Yes, we're a part of the Aegis Corps, and we need to speak with Mister Carlnitus Carlnitos." Jin flashed his badge, and Brittany did the same.
"Oh, t-the Aegis Corps. I-Is there a reason why you need to speak with the boss man?"
"Boss man?" When you're working for someone, it is common courtesy to refer to your superiors with respect. Calling them Sir, Ma'am, Mister, or Misses was expected by everyone. However, Brittany was sure that 'Boss man' was not one of those respectful titles.
"Yeah, that's what he wants us to call him. He says that he's too young to be called Mister or Sir. So, he likes being called Boss Man." Judging from the smile on the man's face, this was probably a very chill and fun environment to work in, especially for a man in this world.
"Okay, well, the reason why we need to speak with the Boss Man is because we fear that the endoskeleton that he plans on presenting soon will be stolen by a dangerous organization," Jin explained.
"Stolen? Haha! No way. Our security is top-notch! No one can break into our building and get away with it. I mean, look, you probably don't even know that the wall over there is a door."
The receptionist pointed to a man walking toward the wall, but instead of the door opening, he ran into the wall, falling on his ass, and all the tablets he was holding in his hands fell on the ground.
"Oh. Well, he's new."
"Dammit! I've been working here for 5 years, and I still don't understand what a door is and what a wall is." The man got up, grabbed the tablets, then walked over to the other wall only to run into it as well."
"H-Heh, f-five years is a pretty short time working here."
"Uh-huh. Can you set up a meeting for us?" Jin asked.
"That might be pretty difficult. You see, the Boss Man is swamped in work right now and informed us not to bother him."
"What's he doing?"
"I don't know. He just said not to bother him. He's doing something in his office that is very important."
Jin stared into the eyes of the receptionist, his fierce gaze making the man gulp in fear.
"Whatever. Let's go, Brittany."
"Oh, okay."
After walking out of the building, Brittany stopped him before they could go any further.
"Jin, what are you doing? Don't we need to warn Mister Carlnitus about the Sons of Adam?"
"Yes, we do. Hold on." Jin grabbed the back of Brittany's shirt and then took off into the air.
He flew until he reached the highest floor, Carlnitus's personal office, then phased through the glass by using space displacement.
"W-What the fuck was that?!" Brittany fell to her knees, her body shaking. "I feel like I was just turned into mush, then became a human again. What did you do?"
'INTRUDER!"
"WHO ARE YOU?!"
"STOP RIGHT THERE!"
"PUT YOUR HANDS IN THE AIR!"
"WAIT!" A man walked over to Jin, his hand on his chin. He had short white hair and golden eyes. He looked him up and down, touched his arm, then squinted his eyes.
"You!" The man grawled. "You're a GENIUS! Haha! You must be really good with technology in order to pull off a stunt like that! The name's Carlnitus Carlnitos! Nice to meet you!"
