Jin was in his apartment room going over all the information he had about the Sons of Adam. He was starting to piece together a lot of things and had a theory of what Project Omega could actually be.
"Ahhhh~Mmmmnn! Wow, I slept great!" Angela yawned as she got up from bed.
"Hey, J—Are you still looking at that information board you created about the Sons of Adam?"
"Yes."
"Seriously, man, do you even sleep at all?"
"Sometimes."
"No, no. I mean sleep, as is snoring, not having sex with me."
"Ha. Ha, real funny," Jin responded without laughing.
"Look, I know you're upset that you weren't able to catch those bastards two weeks ago, but this doesn't mean you need to spend every waking hour looking over your notes. It's okay to fail, Jin. It's not the end of the world."
Jin paused, putting his hands down, and turned to face Angela, who was topless.
"What the hell are you talking about? I just started looking over this yesterday."
"Pfft. I know. I just wanted to sound all wise and shit. Anyway, I'm going to go take a shower. See you later, bitch."
"Sure."
After failing to stop the Sons of Adam from taking the schematics, the Aegis Corps reported back to HQ and filled out their mission reports. Carlnitus didn't blame them for their failings because he didn't even know his staff was compromised.
Thankfully, the Aegis Corps was able to get out of this situation without looking pitiful in the public eye. It would be bad enough if the populace started thinking the people meant to protect them were useless, having them turn to the Sons of Adam.
Since Jin wasn't there officially, he didn't need to report in and simply went back home to relax for a few days before getting back to work. Since he was still suspended, he didn't have any missions to go on, so his time was spent researching more about the Sons of Adam.
Jin continued to look over everything he learned when Addison walked in with two cups of yogurt in her hands. She handed one to Jin and watched his information board with him.
"Find anything new?" She wondered.
"I have a working theory."
"Let's hear it."
"Okay, so we already know that the Sons of Adam want two things. The first one is 'equality' and the second one is control. But in order to do that, they need power."
Addison followed along. "Right. This is why they are recruiting both men and women, and specifically want smart men, like you."
"Exactly. But their ideal world is to have men on top, so they will do what they can to make them stronger. They recently got the schematics to create the endoskeleton, meaning they have the means to make their men physically stronger."
"But it's a dangerous process, right?" Addison was there for the event and heard what Carlnitus had said.
"Yes. It is. Even with the nanites, it will be difficult to pull off. But I think that's what the phoenix core is for."
Addison's eyes widened with realization, understanding what the Sons of Adam were trying to do.
"They're going to force the process to work!"
Jin nodded. "Exactly. They'll inject the nanites into the bloodstream so they can adapt to the person's biology. After that, the phoenix core will be implanted in their body, ensuring that they will always be in good health. Then, they will graft the endoskeleton on or even fully replace the skeleton of the person. The nanites and phoenix core will ensure that the person has the best possible chance to survive."
It made sense. Everything that the Sons of Adam were aiming for had the potential to make men stronger.
"But what about the DNA splicer?" Addison asked. "We still don't know what that would be used for."
"True, but do you remember how the DNA splicer stripped those women of their powers and turned them into pure energy?"
"No way! They're going to use the power of women as energy banks!"
"Exactly. My guess is that they plan on using the energy to power up the endoskeleton, making it stronger than before. Supercharging it."
"If they managed to mass-produce this, then things could get seriously ugly."
Jin agreed. He didn't want an army of supermen to take over the world. If he wanted to live in a patriarchal society, he would have just gone back to his original world.
Okay, he did try to do that, but it failed, and he likes it better in this world anyway.
BEEP BEEP
"Hmm?" Someone was calling Jin's cell. "Who is it?" He asked, picking up the phone.
"Jin? It's me, Karen. I got your number from Yuria."
"Oh, Detective Karen, it's nice to hear from you again. How are things going?"
"I wish I could say things were going great, but they're not. The precinct is in disarray because of the workings of this insane cult, and I have so much on my plate."
"I'm sorry to hear that. Is there something you need my help with?"
"Yes," Karen spoke quietly. "I've recently gotten an anonymous tip that said a person overheard a group of people talking about how they had just stolen the schematics to Carlnitus's endoskeleton. I don't know how true this information is, and it could be a trap. But I'm telling you about it because I need Yuria by my side and you're the only other person I trust right now."
Jin completely understood how she felt. He also shared her same concern about it being a trap, but sometimes, risks had to be taken.
"Alright. I'll check things out. Do you have a location?"
"I'll text it to you."
Jin received a message about the location.
"Cool. I'll see how things go and get back to you. Thanks for the potential new leads, Detective Karen."
"No need to thank me. I just want those bastards taken down! I miss my home on Olympus."
"Ha! I get it. See you later." Jin hung up.
"Time to go on a field trip."
