"How is everything going with our projects?" The speaker asked the guard who walked inside the room to clean up the body.

"Everything is progressing relatively smoothly, even with the interference of that bastard Jin. I seriously don't understand why you need him on our side. I get that he's a genius, but other than that, he's only done more harm than good to us."

The Speaker took time to fully let his subordinate's words sink in. It was true that Jin had been more of a nuisance than an asset, and they were constantly losing every time they pursued him.

"Yes. Yes, you're right. This has been an error in my judgment. Starting now, order every one of our members to kill Jin on sight when they encounter them. This includes anyone who is working with him."

The guard bowed. "And for his knowledge. I couldn't help but overhear that he has successfully injected nanites into his body, as well as successfully managed to steal the abilities of the women on our side he has killed."

"Worry not. We'll examine his body to understand how he managed to achieve such a thing. For now, I want to prepare for the first batch of Project Omega test subjects."

"I understand."

Three days had passed since Jin's encounter with the Sons of Adam, and today was the day he would be assigned a mission. He went to Miss Lockman, as she was his supervisor, and waited for her to brief him on the mission, taking a seat on a comfy couch in the waiting area.

"Jin?" A voice called out to him.

Turning around, Jin saw a familiar face, one that he hadn't seen since his sophomore year of high school.

"Aye, Roby! What's going on, man? It's been a minute." Jin went over to dap his friend up, but he forgot that men were more touchy in this world, and Roby went in for a hug instead.

"It's been years! I missed you, man." Roby said under his happiness.

"It's good to have you back. But man, it's gonna suck hanging out with you again." Jin sighed. "No girl is gonna look at me now."

"Pwhaha! As if! You were always the one who would try and talk to the girls anyway. Girls like guys who make the first move, apparently."

Jin didn't deny that. "Yeah, but they also like the soft, timid guys who they can dominate in bed."

Roby blushed. "I d-don't mind being dominated." He muttered his voice.

'Of course you don't.'

Jin took a seat once again, Roby following behind. They have been friends since elementary school and always had each other's backs. When they entered their junior year of high school, Roby had moved away with his family because of his mother's work.

It had been two and a half years since then, and now, he's back.

"I thought you were overseas in your mother's home country because she got a job opportunity there. What brings you back here?" Jin wondered. Regardless of the reason, he was glad to see his friend back.

"Yeah, I was, and it was amazing seeing my extended family again. But there has been some crazy shit going on in my home country, and my mother thought it was safer for me to come back here. I had already started my Aegis Corps training and even graduated from the institute faster than my peers, so I would have been here sooner, but the transferring of my documents and missions took a bit of time."

This was a shock to Jin. According to his knowledge, Roby wasn't interested in being a member of the Aegis Corps. He found it scary and too dangerous. There was a time when he wanted to be a member, especially after seeing his older sister succeed in her career.

That, however, changed when she was severely injured. Her spine was shattered, and her brain was damaged on a mission when trying to deal with a deserter. While she managed to make a full recovery, she was never the same, and that made Roby look at the Aegis Corps differently.

"You're an operative? That's surprising." Jin chuckled

"About as surprising as you being here as well. What happened to you wanting to simply be a house husband? I thought that was your dream life?"

He sighed. "Yeah, it was. But sometimes life says 'fuck you' and changes your path even if you don't want it to."

'Fuck you, Oculia.'

"Heh, I get that. By the way, are there any cute girls here? Do you think that they'll be attractive to a guy like me? I even did my hair to look extra appealing." Roby looked at Jin with sparkling eyes.

It took everything in him not to laugh. "Totally. Those girls would be stupid not to notice a guy like you."

"Right! I'm like, so handsome." Roby tossed his hair back

'Kill me now.'

"Jin, Roby, follow me, please." Miss Lockman requested.

Getting up, they all entered a room where the lights were off and a holographic image was in the air. Sitting on chairs around the table were two women, both of whom Jin didn't recognize, and they were also here for the mission briefing.

"Now that the four of you are here, let me explain to you what this mission is about." Miss Lockman zoomed in on a specific location. "This place right here is a former Aegis Corps operative base where experiments used to be conducted."

"What kind of experiments?" Jin asked. He wanted to know this information to understand the potential dangers they could be walking into.

"Not the human kind, if that's what you're thinking."

Roby clutched his chest and breathed a sigh of relief. "Oh, thank goddess."

"This facility used to be a place where the latest medical practices used to take place. It was abandoned after Olympus was built and was never fully dismantled. Recently, we've gotten word that the place is being used by an unknown group of people after our computers detected a large surge of energy there."

"Ugh, so we're doing cleanup?" A woman with green hair complained. "Why didn't you just send a striker unit there. They deal with things like this."

It was clear that Miss Lockman didn't like the attitude of the woman as she subtly frowned before responding. "The striker units are taking on more important missions at the moment. You two were free, and Jin and Roby need more field expierence."

"So we have to work with two newbie guardians? Great." The other woman, a brunette, rolled her eyes.

"Moving on, your mission is two things. Arrest the people who have made the facility their base, and shut the place down, permanently."

"What if they resist?" The brunette asked.

"You have permission to use lethal force." Miss Lockman nodded. "Any more questions?"

Jin raised his hand. "This mysterious group, are they the Sons of Adam?"
