"Damn, that's a lot of fire." Addison, alongside Jin and Angela, was flying toward the heart of the city, where the full force of the inmates' attacks was being unleashed. The destruction was nowhere near the level of Olympus's destruction, but it was still a devastating sight.
"Their veins are green." Jin noticed from afar, watching the inmates fighting the legions of Aegis Corps members. "They've taken the serum."
Angela's ears perked up, remembering Jin's talk about that serum the other day. "The one that kills you?"
"Yeah." He nodded. "The two women who attacked me used it, but I was able to handle them with ease."
"Did their powers get stronger?"
"Yeah. It also evolved. Barthomala could create explosions on any solid matter. After taking the serum, she could create explosions on anything that was made of matter, as she ignited the air with her feet when she fought me."
Addison knew who Barthomala was. Being a rich kid meant that she had access to information like that. Her mother wanted her to be aware of people who had similar abilities to them so she could do more with her abilities.
Angela also had access to this type of information, but she wasn't interested in it.
"Looks like the Aegis Corps is handling things pretty well, even after the inmates took the serum." Angela was about to go down to the surface to help them out, but Jin stopped her.
"Don't bother. This is all a distraction. We need to speak to Mrs Horton." From reading the memories of Carlis, Jin learned that this whole thing, the prison break, was just a diversion and a test.
A test to see how the serum does and the effects it will have on a woman's body, and a diversion to find people suitable for the Omega Project. Jin already knew that they planned on using women to steal their powers to fuel some sort of weapon; he just didn't know what kind of weapon it was.
"That's going to be a problem." Addison sighed. "Mrs Horton is currently at the Aegis Corps Council headquarters. She's trying to have them prioritize the hunt of the Sons of Adam. She wanted to help out here, but since her words hold weight, she thought that going to the council would be more important."
The council of the Aegis Corps was the top dogs of the organization. While the Aegis Corps had many leaders in many different positions, the Council was the top dogs of the organization, and everything they say goes.
They were also a bunch of cranky, entitled, sexist, power-hungry, old women who only looked out for themselves. And among them, Jin's grandmother was one of them.
His grandmother wanted Jin's mother to marry into a powerful family to bear powerful children, but when his mom fell for Jin's dad, she was cut off from her family. This is why Jin had to stay with Anyssa since his grandmother didn't even acknowledge him.
"The council, huh?" Jin muttered under his breath. His family wasn't one with generations of wealth, like Addison or Angela, but they were one with generational power. When Jin researched his family line, he learned that every member of his family was absolutely cracked. They were so powerful that they stopped having multiple children to prevent tipping the scales in power.
But after his mother died, who was an only child, Jin and his grandmother were all who were left of their family. Still, if Jin had kids, that generational power would transfer to his daughters. This didn't even include his magical ability that he could teach them.
"Jin, you okay? You're spacing out right now." Angela was poking Jin's arm, trying to get his attention.
"Huh? Y-Yeah, sorry. I was just thinking about stuff. Anyway, since Mrs Horton is unavailable, let's just help out as best as we can."
The two of them nodded, and all of them headed down to the surface to help out the people.
---
"I hope Jin is okay." Brittany was currently with Oculia and Anyssa, holding back inmates while helping civilians get to safety.
"Don't worry about him, he's strong, more than you know. Right there!" With her powers, Oculia spotted people trapped under some rubble, and Brittany lifted it up with her telekinesis while Anyssa got them to safety.
"I know that he's really smart and talented, but you said that there were people after him. Are you not worried?"
Oculia smiled. She wanted to tell them about Jin and his abilities, but that wasn't her secret to tell. All she could do was reassure them that he was fine.
"Oh look, more bitches for me to kill!" A woman landed on the ground, a smirk on her face as she approached the three women.
"I'll handle this." Anyssa stepped forward. "You two get those people out of here."
"You'll handle nothing, you Aegis Corps dog!" The woman rushed at Anyssa, punching her body with enough force to level a skyscraper, but instead of contacting with a body, she felt like she was splashed with water.
"Huh?" Turning around, she saw that Anyssa's body was completely turned into water. " Tsk, fucking elemental."
The woman clapped her hands, creating a shockwave to make Anyssa's body splash away, but her watery body turned into lightning, and she struck the woman like a lightning strike.
"Arghhhhhh!!"
"You're under arrest and will be sent back to the prison you escaped from." Anyssa's body then turned into stone, and she uppercutted the woman, appearing above her while turning into wind, and blasted her back to the ground.
When she landed, she ignited into fire and rained down flames onto the woman until she stopped screaming.
"You don't know who you're messing with." Anyssa scoffed.
"Mom, are you okay?" Brittany and Oculia came back after helping the civilians to safety.
"Yeah, I'm okay. How are the civilians?"
"We managed to get them to the shelter. If things progress the way they are, we should be able to take out—"
"Anyssa look out!" Oculia shouted, trying to warn her friend.
Anyssa quickly activated her earth powers to defend herself from an attack, but when her eyes saw what was coming toward her, she knew she had to switch to another element.
'Dammit, I can't switch in time!'
The woman had gotten up and was charging at Anyssa with a broken metal rod with a sharp end. "DIE!"
Right before the metal rod could connect, purple lightning struck the woman where she stood, frying her body to a crisp.
Landing right in front of the woman, Jin looked down at her burned body with a disgusted look on his face, then rained down energy blasts from his power kit until there was literally nothing left of the woman besides the bloodstain that painted the ground.
