Alaric breathed into his hands his breath coming out in white mist. He had found a mountain in his walk and started to climb. The journey wasn't easy; he slid a few times on the ice but managed to get on his feet.
The mountain would at least give him a vantage point on where he would go. He had not been attacked throughout the whole three-hour walk.
He wondered if he had scared the monsters or had he entered a stronger monster's territory. If so, then he was doomed.
The cold had started to increase as he moved forward, frozen rocks, water patches and hills of snow. He had fallen into those hills a few times.
He turned a bend on the mountain and saw a larger patch of ice frozen. Across the patch was a bridge that looked to ne made of ice or just frozen.
Alaric felt like he had made the best decision. A bridge wouldn't appear out of nowhere.
Alaric summoned his whip and stood where he was, he didn't move towards the ice or bridge. Despite it looking like salvation. In a place like this bridges will probably have a toll keeper. He wanted to confirm there was none.
He hit his whip on the snow before him causing the snow to spread out. Alaric waited for a while, and seeing no reaction, he stepped forward. Maybe it was in the Ice.
A few steps into the snow a deep rambling sound came echoing through the mountain ranges. Alaric stopped and looked around vigilantly; the echo was everywhere, and he couldn't pinpoint the exact location.
Then a few steps Infront of him, the snow moved and shook away as a massive arm punched through it throwing snow and stones away.
Alaric stepped back to avoid the shot. Another arm followed, then a huge square head and a huge body that seemed to be made from ice and stones.
It stood nearly three meters tall. On its chest, a blue sphere hangs suspended in the air in its cavity. Alaric could see it pulsating like a heart and moving around.
" Are you the boss?" Alaric asked the faceless brute.
Alaric thought of retreating and looking for another way but he wasn't about to go down a mountain filled with ice, there was a bigger chance of him slipping and falling.
And a bridge doesn't appear out of nowhere.
Alaric shifted his stance whip ready in his hand preparing for the inevitable fight.
The brute charged , despite it's weight it was terrifyingly fast. Faster than the other monsters he had fought. Snow dispersed everywhere as it's massive body propelled towards him.
Alaric snapped his whip and wrapped it around the brute's ankle, leaving a huge groove in its ice-like body. The brute staggered forhslf a second. Alaric smiled, that was all he needed .
He pulled the whip hard, using its momentum to twist it's leg forward too fast for it's body to manage. The ice cracked loudly as the whip dug into the ice . He could feel the whip starting to freeze from too much Frost.
The brute roared clearly annoyed by Alaric's antics. It slammed it's huge fists downwards.
Alaric slid sideways under it's fist escaping the oncoming fist by just a hair. The blow hit the ground where he was standing hard destroying it. The ice beneath it crumbled into pieces revealing the dark rocks beneath it.
The snow and rocks that erupted from the ground was blinding as it spread and affected the surroundings.
Alaric was blinded by the explosion of snow, but he wasn't about to stop because he was blind.
He snapped the whip again, this time wrapping it around the brutes wrists. Alaric planted his foot in a protruding rock and pulled.
The brutes arms jerked sideways from the unexpected pull it's body stumbling . This broke the balance he had managed to retain.
Alaric sprinted forward towards the disoriented , using the whip as leverage he flicked it towards the monster neck and the hooks held on the cracks.
He ran up the brutes leg and tsex the whip as leverage and swand around and landed on the brutes chest near the core.
He looked at the pulsating core but he didn't strike it yet. The monster was still well and uninjured, he didn't want to see what would happen if he alarmed it too early.
He held onto it rough body and flicked his wrist wrapping the whip around the monsters neck. He held onto the whip with both hands and kicked off the monsters body with eveything he's got.
The whip untied as the monster flew back wards sliding on the ice patch hitting the ground with a huge earth shattering sound. The vice basin cracked beneath its body.
Alaric on the other hand didn't have a graceful landing either. He rolled on the snow but stood up right after and ran the small distance to the place the brute was laying.
The pressed the first button and drove the dagger directly into the brutes core, but it was met with resistance something was covering it.
He stabbed it a few more times while watching it try to stand up but the ice was slippery. With one final stab, he broke through the resistance and stabbed the core.
It broke into three pieces. Alaric took it and stored it in his storage space fast. The thing groaned one last time before it fell and started to disintegrate melting into the ice basin.
Alaric didn't loose his guard, after killing the brute the dungeon core didn't appear. He knew he had not found the dungeon boss y. He could feel something watching but he didn't know where.
Then the ice basin he was standing in a few meters from him started to move them it formed shapes as though the ice was gathering itself. Alaric stood up and looked towards the transformation. He ran towards it determined to kill whatever was creating itself before it could come to life.
He threw his whip but it didn't reach its target, another figure came from behind it and held the whip but the whip slipped from it's hand. I wasn't undamaged. The place it had held froze solid.
Alaric could feel the added weight from the ice on the whip. The figures finished forming during this delay.
This time they were three figures standing Infront of him . They were exactly the same height as him and looked humanoid except for their too long arms with claws that was translucent ice and their face being faceless. They were pure white in color.
They all moved together. The first one leaped into the air it's claws pointed at him.Alaric snapped his whip midair and caught it by the throat and pulled it down slamming it into the ground face first. The hands broke into pieces like glass.
Alaric then swiped his whip low catching the second ones by the leg's and ripping it out under it. It fell on the ice it a huge shatter.
The third one reached him through all the fighting it's claws ripping through the jacket he was wearing and tearing into his skin. Alaric could feel the cold instantly penetrate him. The woundwas shallow but the cold just made it more painful and numb.
Alaric gritted his teeth and just grabbed it with his gloved hand , twisted his body and flipped it over his shoulder.
It crashed into the second fallen ice figure and they skidded across the floor. He didn't give any of them any time to regroup.
He slammed his whip on the breaking their limbs until only their torsos remained with the now visible core. He moved towards each figure and shattering it with his darker taking the core with him. After he had finished collecting all the cores, Alaric stood up and looked towards the frozen bridge.
With his whip still in hand he walked towards it. It looked like it was made in a fairy land. The pattern details just made it look more magical.
He stepped on the translucent ice , his heart in his throat. He could see the dark valley below. It was too dark to see the bottom.
He tried his weight steadily putting each leg slowly as he moved, he wasn't that excited despite the bridge looking firm.
Then a huge roared came from below the valley shaking everything around him. Alaric felt like cursing at the time, whatever was down there wasn't to be messed with.
He decided to quicken his step.
CRACK!
A small sound came when Alaric placed a foot forward, he was only a few meters away from the edge. He looked down only to see a small hairline crack under his feet.
Then he watched as it started to spread.
" Oh shit..."
Alaric started to run as the bridge cracked behind him, he could feel himself lose ground as he neared the edge of the valley. The cracks were faster than his legs could carry him.
