In the blink of an eye, ten years had gone by.
Previously, Amon was just ten years old, the age his new body was in this unique star gate. Now, with ten years passing swiftly, he had grown into a young, handsome youth.
Atop the clouds, Amon stood at the edge and gazed down, feeling a little melancholic in his heart.
He had never expected the passing of time to be like this.
It was so… fleeting!
One might think that ten years was a very long time, but to Amon, it was as if he had just arrived here at the floating clouds star gate…
The memory of the first person he killed still burned fiercely in his mind.
Amon continued to glance down without much emotion in his eyes.
After staying here for ten years, his heart had grown exceedingly calm, and he was now able to burn away the impulsiveness of youth.
Looking back, Amon gradually realised a few flaws he had made in the real world.
Things he could have been more delicate and subtle about.
With a sigh, Amon turned around, clasping his hands behind his back and walking evenly atop the drifting clouds.
He walked for a few paces and soon caught sight of Helena training with a slender wooden axe in her hand.
As though she sensed him, she glanced at him indifferently.
Strangely, Helena didn't seem to have changed over the period of ten years.
She was still her usual calm self, and there had been no damage or enhancement to her mentality.
At least not that Amon could recall.
He walked up to her and said calmly.
"Still practicing? There's been no danger for the past ten years, and I don't think danger is coming anytime soon. I took a look around and there's still no clouds. In fact, everywhere seems a little too peaceful."
Surprisingly, Amon liked this solitude and peace a little more than the normal, mundane life of the past.
Helena stared at Amon, then replied with a shrug.
"What do you know? The world is unpredictable and can become dangerous at any time."
"Suit yourself," Amon said, and no longer paid much attention to her.
Instead, he walked into the thatched house.
As soon as he entered, he noticed the old lady sitting lazily on the couch.
With a book in her hand, she was reading intensely and didn't even notice Amon walk in.
"Greetings, granny," Amon greeted respectfully as he walked up to her.
"Amon, boy." The granny's face lit up as she placed the book to the side and glanced at him with a smile.
Amon nodded and sat beside her as he listened to her tales.
Strangely, the way the world she was from worked was far different from the Bermuda world.
Knowing that she was a star beast, Amon was curious.
Based on what the granny had told him, she appeared here suddenly all those years ago and had since then been living out her days.
"You have something on your mind, Amon boy?" the granny stared intently at him and asked.
Having stayed with Amon for ten years, the two had grown a little close, and she could faintly tell when he had something on his mind.
However, Amon shook his head.
"Just thinking about how life would play out…" Amon exhaled and leaned back.
He was quite bored.
His primordial path was gone for now…
Previously, he would spend most of his time training to increase his strength or trying to glimpse the mysteries of a battle art.
Now, however, he felt a little lax.
It was unlike his previous life, where there was technology and novels to while away the boredom.
Unknowingly, dark thoughts began creeping into Amon's mind.
Closing his eyes, he clenched his fist.
What if he just ran off and jumped from the clouds and started a killing spree.
His strength would surely return…
And he would finally get the excitement he wanted.
It didn't seem like a bad idea, especially to Amon, who loved the thrill of battle more than anything.
"Amon, boy." The granny called out warmly in a motherly, weary voice, stirring Amon from his thoughts.
Amon unclenched his fist, restraining the bloodlust in his heart, and opened his eyes to stare at the granny with a smile.
"Don't worry about it. Time is quite fleeting. Gradually, you'll learn to enjoy this kind of life. Besides, you have someone to keep you company."
She glanced towards the door, and her gaze seemed to fall onto Helena, who was still practicing some fighting techniques with the axe.
"Why don't you two get married and have children? That way you won't be so bored and lonely… when I'm gone."
As the granny suggested this, she stared at Amon with expectation.
Bewildered, Amon turned to stare at Helena.
Although she was a beauty and of acceptable standards, Amon's heart held no thoughts of romance for now.
Leaving this hateful star gate, returning to the real world, and increasing his strength once more.
That was all Amon had in mind.
As for thoughts about emotions of the heart…
That was a different matter entirely.
The granny quickly became emotional seeing that Amon wasn't saying anything, like he always did.
She stared, sobbing, while quietly speaking, "You brat. I'm already so old and might die at any time. Don't you want me to see my great-grandchildren before I die? Do you want me to die with grievance?"
Hearing her statement, Amon was speechless.
He couldn't find words to refute her and knew that the granny would only drag on the topic with him, so with a sigh, he stood up.
"I need to check on the farm goods for what we'll eat tonight."
As he finished speaking, Amon didn't wait for the granny's reply before dashing off into the backyard.
Staring at his departing figure, the granny sighed.
"These stubborn little children. Why won't they just marry and give me a child?"
Feeling sadness in her heart, the old lady picked up the book she was reading and quickly engrossed herself in it while time continued to drift on.
…
Over the next few days, Amon's lax life continued.
In the morning, he went to tend to the farm and also practiced with the axe as a form of defence.
He spent the afternoon basking in the sun and also staring into the distant, beautiful scenery.
Meanwhile, in the evening, he chatted idly with Helena, getting to know more about her and just trying to deepen their relationship in general.
Of course, Amon did all this with no romantic thoughts in mind.
"I consider humans as ants… There's always someone stronger! Even an ant, with sufficient gifts, can slay a god. I too am an ant, but I strive to become something bigger."
Sitting at the edge of the cliff made of white clouds, Helena said this with some emotion as she chatted with Amon.
Glancing at her, Amon was intrigued.
He had asked for her opinion on how she viewed humans when it came to the Bermuda world of gifted ones, and this was her reply.
"Humans as ants, huh…" Amon said with a muse.
"How about you? What do you see humans as?" Helena turned away from the scenic view to stare Amon dead in the eyes.
Amon returned her gaze calmly and was about to reply when her eyes suddenly sharpened and turned to the distance.
"He's here, huh…" she muttered and stood up.
"Who?" Amon asked curiously as he stood up as well.
Helena's gaze remained fixed on the far-off distance as her expression became complex and solemn.
Amon stared intently and noticed something rushing towards them at lightning speed.
