'Wait, why are your eyes lingering on that monster at the center? Don't tell me that you wish to slay it? HAHAHA! You crazy bastard!' Devil's Tongue laughed joyfully in Michael's head.
But this time Michael didn't ignore his soul weapon. With the constant explosions everywhere, the sword's laughter was better than the ringing in his ears.
'Let's say that I am considering it.' He replied a moment later.
Of course, he wasn't delusional. He perfectly knew how wide the gap between the Grandmasters and himself was. To have reached such a high realm they must have a spirit with more than 1,000,000 points, and they were still struggling against the General.
If they weren't able to contain the monster, how could Michael, who only had 15,000 points in spirit, even compare?
"Normally I won't stand a chance. But with it being able to harm souls… I have a chance if it were to target me." He mumbled, his voice being washed out by the sound of battle.
Of course, he didn't rush to the alien leader, waiting for the right opportunity. Not to mention that he was still providing support to his squad.
Ava's hammer rang out against the Elites. With the support of the people around her, she was able to slay Elites faster than most generals who were in the Master realm!
'This is the power of numbers. In my previous life, I failed to save humanity, even after attaining what most would consider the pinnacle of power. Strength in numbers is far more formidable than the power of any single individual.' Michael noted.
Using his techniques to their limit, he made sure to always have Ava's back. Not only was he the one to contribute most to her support, but he was even able to anticipate her movements and act accordingly.
'I never knew I could move like this…' Ava naturally was flabbergasted. Even though she had fought with others before, this was the first time she felt like the people next to her were acting as extensions of her limbs.
'Especially Michael, the way he moves is like he can read my mind.'
Knowing that many people relied on her, she tossed her useless thoughts aside and focused on fighting.
Victoria, who was fighting in close proximity, stopped paying attention to her little junior once she saw how well she was holding on.
"GET BACK!" A powerful shout came from the communicating device of every soldier. With the forces of the Elites increasing, they had to make sure the common soldiers weren't too close to the Elites.
"What is taking them so long?!" One of the soldiers muttered, observing the fight between the General alien and the two Grandmasters.
Their movements were faster than what most could perceive, leaving afterimages.
Only those of the Master realm and Michael, with the assistance of his Perfect Vision, were able to somewhat make sense of the fight.
Golden Vanguard had sent a tall woman with blonde hair, while for Immortal Legion it was an old man. It seemed that Isaac, who had gone against Michael before, was nowhere to be seen.
Both Grandmasters were unharmed, seemingly in good condition. Yet, strangely, they seemed pale on the verge of passing out.
'They would have won against the alien if their souls weren't affected by its presence.' Michael calculated how much time they would be able to last.
"If I don't help them somehow their souls will be damaged and they will lose. Even if I don't slay the General alien, I have to provide assistance." He muttered, gazing at Ava and their team.
'I have confidence that they will be fine without me.'
The second Ava slayed another Elite, Michael broke their formation and approached her.
Since it was too loud to communicate clearly, he brought his mouth to her ear until she could feel his breath.
"Hold the front."
Before she could comprehend what was happening, Michael used Blink, entering the enemy ranks.
She gritted her teeth but didn't complain. She had long figured out that he had an idea in mind and was ready to adapt.
Of course, the others quickly noticed Michael's absence and moved in to fill his role. Yet, strangely enough, despite two captains replacing him, Ava found herself under more pressure.
'To think that I relied on him so much… This is my chance to become more powerful!' With new resolve in her heart, she increased her efforts severalfold, eager to match a Master's performance without any assistance.
Meanwhile, at the center of the fight, three beings of unparalleled power stood. Nothing was daring enough to interpret the fight between the alien General and the two Grandmasters. Even the mechas had given up, going to face the Elites instead.
"When we learned that our ambush had failed, we thought it was because of someone formidable… But to think the strongest forces here are you two." The alien spoke, its voice cutting through the commotion effortlessly.
"Not to mention that you two are supposed to be a realm higher than me, yet are still struggling so much. I still don't get it. How foolish are humans to think you have a chance against us when we could match you with so little effort?"
The two Grandmasters frowned. Being of such a high realm, they already knew that aliens could speak. But they found themselves unable to dispute its words.
"The only reason we aren't tearing you limb from limb is because you can attack our souls!" The old man roared, his face red from anger.
"I know, and that is why I am personally handicapping myself by not attacking your souls, yet you are still reluctant to appreciate me…"
A smile tugged at its gruesome face.
"Tell me, do you think I can't initiate a soul attack from a distance?"
"YOU!" The woman Grandmaster became enraged, about to clash with the alien, not caring about the consequences.
Yet before she could, a sword struck the back of the alien.
Being thrown by Michael, who was still a simple Middle Adept, caused the soul weapon to bounce off the alien's skin.
The alien General's eyes widened, surprised not because it had been sneak-attacked, but because the attack had been so pathetically weak that it hadn't caused it any harm.
Turning back, its eyes landed on Michael, who recalled his soul weapon before resting it on his shoulder nonchalantly.
"You talk too much." He said calmly.
