Serena looked out the window as the car stopped in front of a huge mansion. Her jaw dropped as she took in the sprawling lawn stretching before the mansion. Serena gaped at the very sight in front of her, she didn't know what to call it, but a house it was not! It was even way bigger than a mansion, the house was so huge that Serena thought all her whole village could fit right in there.
"This will be your home from now on, Kitten right here with me." Eiravyn finally said as he moved to hold her hand, with that the car door was opened for them by another knight who seemed to be patrolling the area until he saw his king arrived.
"Welcome back, Your Majesty."The younger knight greeted with a salute as soon as their king stepped out of the car.
Eiravyn tugged at Serena's hands to start moving, completely ignoring the knight. The young knight bowed his head, only lifting it when Eiravyn walked passed him.
Serena drank in the sight right in front of her. She saw the circular driveway and the lawn that had low green plants and several topiary trees that were cut into spiral shapes.
She slowly walked towards it as she looked around. There was a huge water fountain at the grand courtyard, right at the heart of Dark Shade castle. The fountain looked majestic, surrounded by dark marbles, there was a stone statue of a bat spitting water—gave the whole place a grandiose look.Serena was left breathless at the magnificent sight in front of her.
Nothing about the castle was simple, right from the design outside. The king's throne room, it dripped elegance and grandeur, Serena could already tell that inside will be so beautiful as they approached the main door, which was authomatically pulled open for them by a knight who bowed his head in greeting as they walked into the Dark Shade castle.
The entrance of the castle had exquisite dark marble steps that lead to the front door, which dwarfed her. Serena slowly took it all in, as she anticipated to seeing what was left for her inside the castle.
Eiravyn tugged on Serena's hands as he led her to climb the stairway without looking back. The Dark castle looked even more grandiose from the inside. Serena could now see that everything, from the walls to the windows to the glass, all looked like a magnificent work of art— each detail breathtaking.'How on earth would the inside look like?'
Back at the entrance of the Darkshade castle
The younger knight who was patrolling the area before he saw their king arrive. Keleb gently nudged his commander, Celrean, in the shoulder.
"Who is that girl?" Keleb asked, eager to tell his fellow knights the latest gist. when Celrean snapped at him.
"And what do you think you're doing standing here? It seems you have too much free time in your hands?" Celrean asked coolly, making Keleb blood turn cold. He had completely forgotten that it was his cold-hearted commander that was standing close to him, and had blabbered out the first thing that came to his mind.
Keleb felt cold sweat drip from his head at the very question his commander asked, he knew if he didn't find an excuse to leave the place right now, he'd face hard labor in the training ground later today.
"I-I was just about to leave the place, Sir Celrean." Keleb stuttered out, as he took one step at a time — not daring to aggravate his commander further -when he noticed that his commander was no longer paying attention to him, Keleb fled the place instantly, until he heard the voice he'd hoped to avoid.
"How come you're the only one patrolling this area?" Celrean suddenly asked him, his gaze lifting to glare at his fellow knight.
Keleb turned back to him in fright, his whole body shaking, the only person he feared in his entire life, other than his king, was this very man,
"I was patrolling with Sir Kael but he had a running stomach, so he had to leave here first, I'm pretty sure he'd be back soon." Keleb answered, hoping against hope that he'd let him go.
Celrean hummed as he finally turned his back on him, Keleb fled the place immediately; even though he was curious about the girl their king had brought back with him, he left quickly.
Caspian watched all this when he saw the younger knight ran off as if the devil was on his tail, he couldn't help but burst out in laughter as the whole scene was very funny to him, before he turned to face Celrean.
"You can't be that hard on them, now look how they're treating you almost like you're the devil, you should learn to hide that stone face you have on sometimes."Caspian said, wiping away invisible tears from his eyes.
"He is not fit to be a knight if he can't stand my face." Celrean responded before he made his way to the training ground, leaving Caspian all by himself.
"Would it kill you to keep me company for once." Caspian called after him, but got nothing in return, he eventually gave up, releasing a frustrated groan.
~Inside the Darkshade Castle~
As Serena and Eiravyn made their way into the great hall of the castle, the sight that graced her view was that of a enormous, magnificent chandelier that welcomed her, dangling elegantly from the high ceiling, the blood-red crystal chandelier dripped like frozen diamonds pearls, making it difficult to ignore.
The grand halls with crimson curtains, candelabras casting a pleasing light, the walls in the hall were adorned with ancient portraits of passed leaders, Serena gasped at the sight.
