The three of them stared at the screen and watched the footage Mater had found.

The first one was at midnight on Saturday, April 12, 2025. This was back when Kyle Turner had not rented the 1308 apartment yet and there was a previous tenant there.

In the footage, the door of the apartment slightly opened, revealing a white face looking out from the crevice between the door and the frame. It was a woman with long dark hair. She stared at the hallway for half an hour before another tenant saw her and screamed. Then the door shut tight.

There was no one in the apartment at that moment.

"Welp. That is a ghost for sure." Selina said. She packaged the footage and sent it to her phone, ready to be delivered to the ACPD.

The second one was around 8:00 PM Monday, June 9, 2025. The previous tenant had left the apartment and looked for somewhere else to live. This was the first day Kyle Turner went inside the room.

The young man pulled his luggages into the apartment. As he was about to open the door, it opened itself for him. Kyle jerked back in fear. He looked around the hallway and scanned the empty room a few times but didn't see anything.

Kyle mumbled something but the camera didn't record audio so Mater wasn't able to hear him. The young man shrugged and continued to his room, shutting the door behind.

On the same day around 11:00 PM. The door opened again, looking directly inside Kyle's bedroom. He was sound asleep but there was some woman on top of him. A woman with dark hair and white clothes. She pressed him on the bed as her tongue darted out and licked all over his body.

"I know it is eerie but why does it seem a bit perverted to me?" Selina said.

Mater nodded and meowed. "You aren't the only one, Selina." Then he went on to explain a very unique situation that could happen with a wraith, which Aurora translated to Selina.

"Sometimes, the wraith doesn't need to be hostile toward you to kill you. If it really likes you, it will also kill you so you can join it in the afterlife." Aurora said.

Selina shivered all over her body. "Are you serious?"

Mater nodded.

The last footage was on Tuesday, October 30, 2025. On the halloween date of last year. It showed Kyle accompanied by a woman returning from a halloween party with him.

They entered the apartment and everything seemed fine. Until, the woman suddenly burst out of the door, wearing only her underwear and bra. Behind her was a woman standing right at the door, looking horrific as ever.

Kyle died shortly a few days later.

"Ah. Envy." Mater stated. "An Envy Wraith."

"What is an Envy Wraith?" Selina asked."

"Dr. Avaline once told you that the NCE can use a wide array of negative emotions as its power. Aurora was once Fury, a spirit of vengeance. This wraith is probably Envy, a spirit of… Well, envy. It probably wanted to possess that man there but when it saw him with another woman, it killed him." Aurora translated what Mater's saying.

Selina packaged the remaining footage and sent it to the ACPD. The three of them exited the security room. In the empty hallway, the door leading into room 1308 creaked open. It almost felt like the wraith was inviting them into the apartment.

"Should I leave?" Selina said.

Mater shook his head. "You should follow us. You are a true Psychic now. It is better if you have more experience with these creatures. It will also help your study in the university later."

As Aurora translated what he said, Selina's expression turned gloomy. She wasn't afraid of going in with them, but the thought of going to school again made her despair.

Mater climbed onto Selina's shoulder with Aurora walking in the front.

"Onward, my servants!" Mater meowed and pointed his fluffy paw at the door.

The three of them entered the apartment. At first sight, the apartment seemed to be ordinary. Mater used Chaos Eyes and scanned the room. He saw an invisible woman lay down on the bed that human eyes couldn't see.

"Ice it, Aurora!" Mater pointed at the bed.

Aurora clasped her hands together. A pillar of ice immediately emerged from beneath the bed and trapped the wraith.

The wraith materialized into existence, allowing Selina to see it.

The female wraith screamed loudly. Its body turned semi-transparent as it tried to go through the solid ice.

"Heh. This might not be Death Ice but it is still ice that was created by Chaos. You don't think it's going to be that easy, do you?" Mater flicked his paw, ordering Aurora to continue.

The Glacial Wight placed her hand on the floor. Immediately, ice spikes shot out inside the ice pillar and pierced the wraith full of holes. It shrieked loudly but it didn't die.

The female wraith reached its hand out and turned. Suddenly the entire apartment grew larger and broader. The entire room spun. The door to the outside world disappeared.

The bed was made larger, distancing the ice walls of the ice pillar and creating large gaps. This allowed the wraith to escape and jump out.

"Oh? I thought this was going to be an easy target. But I was mistaken." Mater meowed.

Their locations were also extended. The three of them were farther from each other.

Mater turned to Aurora. "Keep Selina safe."

The Glacial Wight nodded. "At your command, Master."

Aurora ran toward Selina, leaving Mater to deal with the female wraith alone. The black cat cracked its neck. It whistled and called forth the Dark Grimoire.

The book flew to Mater and he jumped onto its page.

"Your Chaos amount is pretty low. You are probably level 2 or 3. But this place…"

Mater used his red eyes to scan the transformed apartment. The entire apartment was drenched in Chaos. An amount that was much more than any level 3 Chaos Creature could create.

"Instead of using it on yourself, you use Chaos on this apartment, fusing it to you. As a wraith, you might only be level 3. But your power is much greater than any level 3 can be.

Good! I like my play thing to be extra DURABLEEEEEEEEEEEEE!"

The cat laughed deviously.
