The ghost knelt down at her husband's tombstone and hugged it. Her husband was a soldier and died in the last war of this country.

She died soon after because of despair. But the ghost didn't move on and kept lingering at the house.

The ghost didn't even know why it stayed there. Maybe because it was the only thing she knew for a long time. Staying home and waiting for her husband to come back from the war. But he could never come back anymore.

"I miss you, darling." The ghost sobbed. "We were supposed to have an entire life together. But it was all gone."

Selina watched the scene silently. Her eyes were a bit tearful but she kept them from coming out.

Mater placed a paw on the ghost. Chaos enveloped around his fur, allowing him to touch a spiritual being.

"He is out there, waiting for you somewhere." Mater meowed.

"Is he really?" The ghost said.

"If he loves you, he would be. You have made him wait long enough. Join him. Have the life you always wanted to have." Mater said.

Aurora widened her eyes looking at her master. She didn't think that this evil cat could be so soft.

The ghost nodded. "Thank you, angel of death. I will be going now. As a gift. Please accept this from me."

The ghost placed something on the floor. At the beginning, it was very blurry. But the edges of the object slowly sharpened. Its semi-transparent quality solidified and became a real object.

It was an old pocket watch.

"Thank you." The black cat grabbed the pocket watch in curiosity. He could feel that this thing was not ordinary.

"Goodbye, angel of death." The ghost faded away. Any trace of its existence had now disappeared from this world.

"Well. That case is done. You can report to the ACPD, Selina. Just told them we helped the ghost move on." Mater meowed and Aurora delivered his message to Selina.

"I didn't know we could deal with an NCE that way. There was no fighting at all." Selina mumbled.

"It wasn't a wraith. It was only a benign ghost. Giving it enough time, maybe it would turn hostile. But now, there was no reason to fight it." Mater meowed.

He looked at the pocket watch closer. At first sight, it was just a simple pocket watch. But it was modified because of its long experience with the ghost. It was fused with Phasmon Energy, the energy of specter. This made the pocket watch an object of two worlds.

It was a real object that could turn into a spiritual item.

"I don't have much use for it now. But maybe I can use this as a component to make a Demonic Item on level six. I will need a few more supernatural components though." Mater thought silently.

He gave the pocket watch to Selina for her to store it in the backpack.

One case solved. Eleven cases to go.

They didn't have that much luck for the remainder of the day.

The second case related to a female toilet inside a night club. The owner reported that the people had been encountering all sorts of issues inside. Moaning, shadows, those common sightings of a ghost.

But when Mater came there. All he found was a secret pathway leading to the male toilet. Basically, some staff had dug out a path to the female toilet for perverted reasons.

With the discovery of that clue, the owner quickly found out who did that through the cameras of the nightclub. The culprit was a cleaning staff and he was handcuffed and delivered to the ACPD. This wasn't an NCE case but was still a crime so the ACPD did tell Selina that she would still get a good reward.

The third case involved a sewage entrance. The last time Mater had come to the sewer, he and Aurora had a big fight with the darkwraith.

People on that street reported that they usually saw faces under the sewage holes that would creep them out. The ACPD marked this as a potential NCE but also could be just some mentally-ill people lurking around.

He expected to see some form of wraith down at the sewage but he was disappointed once again.

Selina got the key from the sewage company. She and Aurora, Mater walked around and tried to find any trace of a wraith. They didn't find anything supernatural.

They only found an empty room under the sewage with mattresses, food, and even buckets of human waste. Some homeless people were using the sewer as their home. The case was not related to an NCE at all.

Selina captured some pictures of the room and sent it to the ACPD, marking this case as false positive.

When they finished with the third case. The sky was already dark. Selina and Mater were feeling a bit hungry so they entered a diner to reenergize first.

Aurora was an undead so she didn't need to eat anything and only watched them eat.

After the meal, the three went on for a final case of the day. They only had a few hours left before Selina was completely exhausted.

The fourth case involved another bathroom. This bathroom was inside a corporate building. The case was not reported by anyone but the police got wind of it because there were rumors.

The staff of the company always heard moaning and crying at night. The security guard even saw a woman with long dark hair running in the empty hallway at night. Soon, people were saying that the bathroom of the company was haunted.

Selina and Mater got access to the security footage of the building. The camera quality was extremely bad. They hadn't replaced the cameras for almost a decade. Their night vision ability was horrendous. Because of that, the woman who appeared in the footage looked extra eerie.

But there was no Chaos and no sight of any wraith. The trio walked around to interview some staff. They soon found out that a female staff member was just working too much and had a lot of pressure. She usually stayed behind to cry in the bathroom.

The moaning and crying was her. And she was also the one who appeared in the footage. The female staff however was just too embarrassed to say anything to the rumor.

Selina crossed this off the list and sent the report to the ACPD. She went home that night with Mater and Aurora.

Aurora didn't fight all day so she didn't need the Glacial Shrine. Because of her cold skin, she slept on the sofa while Mater and Selina slept in the bed.

The next few days, the trio speedrunned the rest of the Iron Bounties.
